What was thought process behind Mohammad Rizwan & Saud Shakeel's partnership in group-stage match against India in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025?

The issue was also how they got out. They were both set and had India under pressure. If they had continued to bat, Pakistan would have posted a better score compared to what they finished with. Rizwan threw it away again. Wickets falling at the wrong time — the story of Pakistan cricket.

"Saud and I were playing together and wanted to take the game deep, but our poor shot selection, led to wickets as they kept bowling brilliantly and stopped the runflow."

Rizwan realised he has messed up here and this isn’t a 280 wicket even. Pakistan are gonna lose if they had carried on with his initial dumb plan.

He panicked. This is what happens when you over think.

I did not see a single good ball except one from Rana to Imam that had pace and bounce.

Not a single ball spun too much. There was no lateral movement in any direction. The pace for the best part was low 130s except a few from Rana. It was an absolute disaster class of batting, blocking balls needlessly, no urgency in running between the wickets, hard handed blocks, & that's about it.

It's funny that even though he scored a mere 20, Babar showed intent while Imam, Rizwan, Saud, etc. had no intent whatsoever.

That same process that Babar had in the game against New Zealand.

They were batting at the limit of their capabilities.
This, when will people accept the fact that our team is minnow level These players are so bad, they just can perform any better. He mentioned 280, well that tells you, because even 280 would not have been enough!

This is what happens when you have a team full of batters not suited to the format. Someone had to be brave but in the end none had the capability to lift their strike rate to acceptable levels never mind match winning levels.

entire team's thought process is the same... just play for yourself without considering the situation and the demands of the game.

Generous of you to assume they had a thought process.

They were like cattle grazing in a pasture. Blissfully unaware.

Sidhu was ripping Pakistani batsmen during the post-match commentary. He said that the DNA of the current Pakistani batsmen is different from that of the players of the 90s, such as Saeed Anwar, Amir Sohail, and Salim Malik. He also mentioned the dot balls played by Babar and Rizwan in the last two matches, calling them mentally weak and not even 30% as capable as the batsmen from the 90s. Lol.

Spot on by the great man

They were doing their absolute best. This is all they could have done given their level.

Why is Aamir Sohail being romanticised here? He is a big backer of the RizBar approach.

They are the biggest losers I’ve ever seen in world sport. From ball one they are just looking to survive. So meek, so weak, so pathetic. Real dead team.

where are the spinners .. fahiyan ?? who performed recently well.. the selectors should be beaten by public

Saud was keeping up a decent tempo while Rizwan's batting was too slow. There was a distinction between their performances and we must not be grouping them together.

I know pitch was somewhat sluggish but Rizwan was way too slow today.

Pakistan needed to reach 280 on that pitch.

Not a question of thought process. This is their ability.

Rizwan has been dropping a version of this in every tournament and getting Pak knocked out.
