We have seen many threads of Indo-Pak XI. So, let us make one thread for Aus-SA all time XI. For simplicity, I have restricted it to modern-era players only.

My all-time XI would be(in tests):-

Graeme Smith
Matthew Hayden
Ricky Ponting
Jacques Kallis
Steve Waugh(C)
AB de Villiers
Adam Gilchrist(wkt)
Shane Warne
Dale Steyn
Glenn McGrath
Allan Donald

It is an unbeatable team actually. No team can beat this.

One change - Pollock in place of Donald.

modern? How modern? Are we talking post 92 when SA came back into cricket? Or say post 1970's?

Post 92:

Graeme Smith
Michael Slater
Ricky Ponting
Jacques Kallis
Steve Waugh
AB De Villiers
Adam Gilchrist
Shane Warne
Dale Steyn
Glenn McGrath
Allan Donald

I basically agree with your team. Except i would pick Slater instead of Hayden as i felt he was better vs pure pace than Hayden even though Hayden was much better vs spin.

If its post 1970, then Allan Border comes in for either S Waugh or AB De Villiers.

I usually like having 5 full time bowlers but we have 4 here, and Kallis is an excellent 5th bowling option. Plus, Waugh can chip in with the ball.

Can any team beat this?

Can we combine any two countries in the last 25 odd years?

If so, it would he hard. But a combined Pakistan and India team might stand a chance. Might. This team would be hard to beat.

Smith
Hayden
Ponting
Kallis
Waugh
AB
Gilchrist
Steyn
McGrath
Warne
Donald

I think the tail is quite long. McGrath, Steyn, and Donald, none can bat. Even Warne is more of a no.9.

Smith
Hayden
Ponting
Kallis
Waugh
AB
Gilchrist
Pollock
Warne
Steyn
McGrath

Can Indo-Pak XI beat this team on rank turner??

Which AB is there in your team?

Which AB is there in your team?

I dont think the Australian one qualifies. So, the South African one is there in my team.

If Allan Border qualifies into the discussion, I will put him at 5 and make him the captain with S Waugh at 6.

I wonder if this pace attack is not as good

Dennis Lillee (7 10fers in 70 Tests, compared to only 3 for McGrath in 120+ Tests)
Kagiso Rabada (Better stats early in his career than Steyn)
Vernon Philander (Among the fastest ever to No 1 ranking)

One can put the new Bradman as well at 6.

Rabada has a case as well alongside Steyn, Warne and McGrath.
