What's new

What's a negative trait of yours that you're aware of, but can't seem to change?

I don't get angry easily, but when I do I explode. So need to find a way of controlling the fire :uakmal

I have been sleeping to much lately. Having difficulty is reversing the tide:shezzy

Ever gotten into any physical fights? Had I continued down the path I was on before, I would've been charged with assault by now. That is the only reason why I stopped.

I'm rude to people if I don't like them. Pretending is something that I can not do.

Too much greasy food has been going inside me recently. Must eat healthier. It is hard to stay away from greasy samosa's, pakora's, pizza's, curry's, roti's and sweets.

I m a short tempered guy who gets angry for simplistic of reasons. :/

The food we eat, has to be digested and then thrown out of body in 24 hours, else we will fall ill.

.... The water we drink, gets in our body and is thrown out in 4 hours, else we will fall ill.

.... The air we breathe, has to be thrown out in 1 minute, else we will die.

What about negative emotions like hatred, anger, jealousy, insecurity ... we hold in our body for days, months and years.

If these negative emotions are not thrown out regularly it props up into psycho-somatic diseases.

And meditation and prayers are safest way to dissolve these emotions.

Great advice by Amitabh Bachchan for those who lose their temper easily.

Laziness. I will only get over it if people around me don't tolerate it and make me do things I feel too lazy to do.

My guess is people who get angry easily or are short-tempered are bad at speaking and expressing their thoughts to others and don't tell people directly what they want from them or what's bothering them. They keeping everything inside. Over time they get frustrated for not getting what they want, build up resentment and end up getting angry over the simplest thing which may have nothing to do with what's actually bothering them.

It is pretty common in Pakistani culture where fathers and men in general talk in a very indirect way to others and expect you to basically read their mind and then over time can't help but be angry all the time since that's the only way how they know to get others to do what they want.

I can't remember the last time I got angry that it became a problem and I attribute it to my habit of confronting people, friends, family members on a daily basis when I see something about them which bothers me and don't shy away from speaking my mind. I do show anger but it is always controlled and never over the top and no one would describe me as an angry person.

@those who have anger issues would guys agree with my assessment?

Was almost too lazy to post that I’m lazy, but I’m in good company from what it looks like here.

I also tend to overthink sometimes to the point of paranoia, but I’ve improved on that and continue to do so by taking everyday things in life a little less seriously.

This is a frequently-asked interview question. Once your prospective manager and co-workers are done grilling you on your technical knowledge, the HR rep saunters in, and performs a personality screen. This question will invariably feature in that discussion.

Going through the answers here, I'm surprised any of you have jobs.

You're supposed to say "I'm a perfectionist, which means sometimes I am impatient with colleagues who do not do the job as I would," or "I'm a workaholic, so sometimes I allow the job to consume me, so much so that I don't have a life outside of work," or "I'm so much of a team player that I sometimes do my co-workers' tasks if I see them struggling."

You are hired!

Very true. I actually try to not be like my father (had actually swore that as a child) and usually try to initiate dialog or at least listen to others without judging them which I mostly tend to accomplish but it is quite a struggle. Can't help genetics I guess.

Be as motivated through the journey as I was at the start of it..

I tend to start things with determination and passion...only to fizzle out half way through for various reasons !

Very interesting thread.

For me:

1) Procrastinating - I waste so much time doing pointless things
2) Taking a long time to do simple tasks - it takes me 20 mins to 1 hour to shave, when in reality it should take me 10 minutes max, also when cooking a simple dish like pasta it takes me at least 30 minutes.
3) Mentioning the same things/jokes/memories/memes etc to close friends/family over a long period of time :/
