Title says it all. There have been some great ones.

My favourite is Two and a half men (1st 8 seasons) followed by the big bang theory.

Brooklyn Nine Nine. The office a close second.

Never liked the ones with a laugh track.

I might be alone here but I found Brooklyn nine nine quite boring. I simply couldnt watch it after a few episodes.

1. Two and a half men.
2. F. R. I. E. N. D. S
3. Big bang theory (upto 6th season).
4. How I met your mother (upto 4th season).
5. Full house.
6. The office.

It starts a little slow but picks up towards the end of the first season and it never goes down from there until maybe season - 6 (total 7 seasons so far).

I do wonder if shows like Two and a half men, The Office and HIMYM would make it if they were released today.

Characters like Charlie Harper, Michael Scott & Barnie Stinson, who were icons 10 years ago would probably not be allowed on screen in current woke culture.

Seinfeld. Not just the best sitcom but probably one of the greatest TV shows ever made.
Period.

Well it'll be really tricky for the producers. 2.5 men actually had many derogatory gay jokes in the earlier seasons which would be blasted today not to mention the characters' views towards women.

Agree with Seinfeld. Add Curb and Psych to that. Also Corner Gas.

Arrested development... I'm guessing OP means comedy as 'sitcom' is typically British

The Office for me. I could watch that again and again, I'd never get tired. Comedy writing of the highest order, so many lines said in passing go over your head until the 3rd or 4th watching.

Seinfeld was boring for me. Tried different episodes but it's more cringy for me than anything comedy. Overrated show.

Shocked to see no one mentioning Frasier. It is in a different league compared to most of the sitcoms mentioned here.

Steve Carell himself said that office wouldn't be allowed in this day and age but tbf Its always sunny in Philadelphia is still going on , so is Southpark... just that their audience are not huge..

Yea I just find it interesting how things have changed in just a short period of time.

Seinfeld..................................................

Curb is not a sitcom but it is one of the best comedy series of all-time.

Best sitcoms:

1. Two And A Half Men: Only the early seasons with Charlie Sheen, the show became garbage after they replaced Sheen with Kutcher.

2. The Big Bang Theory: Again only the first few seasons, became unwatchable in the subsequent seasons.

3. FRIENDS: Overrated but still pretty good and pretty consistent throughout it's run unlike most other sitcoms which start off well but then become unwatchable.

4. Brooklyn Nine-Nine

5. The Office

6. King of Queens

7. Community

8. How I Met Your Mother

Don’t think I have really watched any American “sitcoms”. The classic American comedy hero can get out of any situation with a barrage of one-liners - think Bugs Bunny and Eddie Murphy. That doesn’t appeal to me.

I never missed Veep, but that was more political comedy. I like a lot of animated shows - Simpsons 1990-97, Family Guy and Bojack Horseman.

I like British humour - the protagonist is not a hero but a loser. It’s easier to relate to as the humour is more internalised and introspective. There was a seventies show called Dad’s Army which is timeless, set in 1940 and powered for ten seasons by the resentment if the main character that he will never have the social ease, grace and competence if his subordinate. That may be my favourite sitcom ever. It’s constantly being repeated. I didn’t like it as a child but as a mature man I just cry with laughter.

More recently Peep Show, a sort of Odd Couple about two hopeless flatmates, and Chewing Gum by the marvellous Michaela Cole.
