What's the point of Misbah-ul-Haq continuing to play Test cricket?

Misbah has himself denied any rumors of retiring at the moment and wants to continue his journey in the test format by leading the team. ]

My point is what exactly does this step from Misbah achieve for Pakistan? The most tough tours like Eng,NZ,Aus have been ended. If he wanted to prove anything these tours were his best shot. Now we have very easy series coming against easy oppositions. These series are our best chances to find young talent and induct them in the team before we face quality opposition. But isn't Misah's being the hurdle in developing that player?

Also people close to Misbah are saying he is not going to retire soon which could indirectly mean if his WI series is successful he will continue. I'm afraid this will not end well for both Misbah and Pakistan. We also don't have people with sanity at PCB who had the guts to say him goodbye now.

Misbah will only lose respect if he decides to continue. He is done as a batsman and captain. He can still retire with his head high. Can't carry both Younis and Misbah in an already weak batting line-up. One of them has to go now and it should be Misbah as Younis can still score on flat tracks.

yes no point in staying .destroyed the ODI team , though he know his time is over still hanging on to the test team and captaincy... I hope MISBAH is sensible enough to think that he will lose his respect among his fans and be labelled as selfish individual, if he wants to stay as a test captain... he is clearly blocking the way to try out a new young talent..:kp

If Misbah retires now Azhar could probably become test captain. The captaincy might have an adverse effect on his batting and his inept leadership may cost us a historical first series win in the caribbean, considering what happened in the Sharjah test this is a very real possibility.

There is no batsmen knocking on the door only the same old guys like Kamran and Salman, we need to usher in new players systematically the way we're doing with Babar not haphazardly the way people want us to blood in new talent. Even Khurram Manzoor scored a century against South Africa in the UAE but failed to cement his place, when it's clear he's only an odi player. You can't just rush players into the national side, only proven players should make the national team not potentially decent players otherwise you'll get a flash in the pan perfomance like Khurram.

Misbah needs to retire asap but he's not been made to serve the nation only, he is allowed to be selfish in wanting a decent send-off and not retiring with Pakistan having lost 5 tests in a row on very tough tours. If you retire after that you should never have been a captain or a player as you don't have the required ambition of leaving a legacy, that drives all great sportsmen.

Nope, this is a fabrication. I am beginning to think he may not retire but whenever he's been asked since the end of the Australia Tests, he's said 'he will think about it'. That's an ambiguous statement, rather than one where he's suggesting he will definitely stay on.

Other than ensuring that both he and yk retire at the same time so that the team is not subjected to the abominable man management of yk: no other upside.

Misbah needs to leave. He thinks he is doing us a favour by holding on, but no, he is actually doing a big disservice to us and himself.

another selfish act by misbah to stay on and keep this team from moving forward. always has been a selfish batsmen, now this..... nothing new

Just showing that he's not much of a gentleman people make him out to be.

I can only see one reasons for Misbah continuing and that is.....

We have never won a test series in the West Indies...

Misbah should retire, he has held on for so long he has made people believe there is no replacement for him as batsmen or as a captain. He has done a good job but our test team needs a fresh impetus. We need to build a younger side for the 2018 tours to England and South Africa. Misbah has shown that he doesn't really have an interest in building for the future so if he hangs around its not li,e he will build a team for the future.

I am Misbah fan but I'll be disappointed in him if he carries on and plays the West Indies tour.

First series win in West Indies and Misbah leading by the front.

He probably should have retired but at least he's going out on a high so I'm not too upset.

People are bumping threads as if he's scoring against WI bowling attack of 90s.Even Canada's bowling attack is more competent than this team

He was hoping for good retirement. And the poor Windies attack was the only one he saw he could juice up some runs. Aus, Nz etc was never an option for him to score runs.

Yes what's the point when you have legends like Ahmed Shehzad there.

And you two would have been crying that he failed if he did the opposite and did not score. The guy can't win.

It's best to just ignore and not give any attention to Misbah haters who show up in every thread and make irrelevant posts.

The reason is to make sure we win test matches. At almost 45 years he still is holding this batting unit together.

Glad for him. He deserves to retire with his head high. Has done enough in this test series already.
