Ramiz Raja speaking on his YouTube channel:

“When you don't take wickets with the new ball and prove to be expensive, then what can Babar Azam do as a captain? Then they will gather the ex-cricketers and ask them how to make cricket better, so why has the cricket board appointed you? The only thing that day can do is have a huddle. They can change the captain, they can change the coaching staff, and they will think that they have taken a big step and everything is going to be alright now, but they are wrong. When you don't have a passion for cricket and you don't love it, not even one inch of Pakistan cricket can become better. So you have to change yourself. “

“By leaking news like this and making some journalists your favorites, they have destroyed Pakistan cricket. You have to stop this. After all that, the Cricket Board also leaked the conversation with Babar Azam. “

“You can hear the recording of the current chief selector and how much venom he is spitting about Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan. If you want to bring innovations in the selection process, are you going to do it with a 70-year-old person who does not even know the A B C of the process?”

“Club cricket in Pakistan has collapsed, and the people who are training at the club level are just doing politics. You cannot bowl, field or bat using spikes in club cricket matches. On weekends, the ground for the club cricket is given to the companies that are playing tennis ball cricket because the clubs are getting paid for it; the system has to be changed, and first of all, the cricket board has to change itself. We cannot give charge to these people because we are the stakeholders, and we are the biggest stakeholders in cricket.”

Pathetic state of affairs by PCB. Very unprofessional. Have to feel for the Pakistan fans doe. I think the general lackadaisical nature of Pakistan is reflecting on its cricket.

People who don't love Pakistan cricket and have always looked out for themselves with false bravado, pointing fingers at others claiming they don't love Pakistan cricket :dhoni

Say whatever but Rameez had a great passion for Pakistan. He is genuinely patriotic and tried to set the house in order before he was thrown out of that house by the devils.

Rameez was one of the main reason behind this team failure. You are the one who created this ego in Babar Azam and some players as you give Babar Azam the authority to select the team than why you need chief selector than? He treated Babar as a friend and did not took suggestion of selection committee seriously when we loss to Aus and Eng at home. He purposely blocked the selection of Imad Wasim, Amir, and Sarfarz to please Babar. He is a average person and even a 5 years old knew 1.5 years ago that what will happen to this in WC but Rameez said Pace ha yar ya pace ha.

Yeah by preparing atrocious pitches. Give me a break. This guy was just a talker with no idea.

Yes and he was the only Chairman out of many cricket boards who used to make Youtube videos every other week and gave non-sense statements like "defeated billion-dollar industry", "blank cheque ready for Pakistan team if they will defeat India", "brand banani hai" blah blah. Also his non-sense statement during commentary on Babar - "want to marry him"
He destroyed the home pitches, no rotation policy was implemented to improve bench strength as the team was playing same set of players. He should have stopped someone like Babar or others from playing every match against Netherlands & Zimbabwe

He is nothing but loud mouthed who blabbers all the time without any constructive work. As a chairman he was saying Pakistan will not go to India for WC if India doesn't come for Asia Cup and amusingly, he was the first one from Pakistan who went to India for commentary. He should have some self-respect and must have avoided going there at least in this WC.

Ramiz is all talk and nows how to create sensation via statements. The guy had the chance and opportunity to make a difference as chairman but he squandered it.

Basit Ali says that Rameez is angry because he also has invested in Babar, Rizwan and Inzi PR company and he does not want Babar to changed as a captain because he knows it is over for Babar as captain. He also said if Rameez has advised Babar to let PCB sack him as a captain and do poltiics on this issue than mark my words than Babar Azam career will be over like Junaid Khan, Amir, Dasnish etc. He said it written in dictonry of PCB that now whoever will be chairrman Babar will not ever captain Pakistan now so Babar said that give suggestion just by calling me so i am telling babar please leave Captaincy amcabally otheriwse, they will thorw you out from PCB.

Basit Ali is a bitter old ex cricketer who lacks respect for his coworkers. (He is probs angry at Ramiz here cause Ramiz told him not to call him Rambo in meetings when he was the chairman :ROFLMAO: ) Babar isn't getting dropped from the team. Amir and Danish were caught fixing leading to their bans. Amir was given ample opportunities afterwards but he got dropped for NZ tour where PCB wanted to send a same set of players for test and t20is tour to NZ due to COVID restrictions there.
What happened to Junaid was a travesty as he was the guy Mickey never warmed up to despite him performing more than other pacers on average.

And you Ramiz, go over and beyond to defend Babar and Rizwan.

You are no better than those who in your eyes are apparently bringing them down. The most dishonest person I have seen who speaks as if he is the voice of reason.

These Chairmen come, they bring in their mates, they aim to please the politicians, they appoint friends to key positions, they look to please former players and then get kicked out.

Keep repeating!

Ramiz might have done some mistakes in his brief tenure but he is the one of the very few ex-national cricketers who possess passion for Pakistan cricket and is hurt by the current state of affairs . He really wants to do something about it. There is no one more qualified than him currently in Pakistan to lead the revival of cricket in Pakistan .

He causes a $5 million loss to the PCB with his PJL venture bypassing the objections of the PCB finance department. The case has now gone to NAB as we speak.

Not sure about that buy you guys prefer criminally corrupt people like Sethi and Zaka instead. Ramiz is an honest man .

That figure is disputed.

Sethi caused a bigger loss with his pursuit of a futile case against BCCI. That needs to be highlighted

Backing your star performers is a not dishonesty.

He might have backed the wrong horse, but his intentions were good

So Safaraz,Imad and Amir were the solutions. Didn't they play in 2019.

Your source for the $5mn. And it was spent on finding young talent. Look at the PCB and how it spends its money on journalists and freebies. Which will benefit PK.

if you just answer me why Surfarrz was removed from the captaincy because we defeated NZ, ENG, SA and lost due to SL washout. Why Sarfarz was removed t20 captaincy, where his he won 32 out of 30 matches. Babar became captain due Misbha and Waqar conspiracy and now he will be removed captaincy same way. Karma.

I am not sure what the karma bit is about. Safaraz did a good job and maybe he shouldn't have been removed but decisions are made and sometimes they come off and sometimes they don't. But we didn't qualify in 2019, and the same this time and Babar has to pay the price. Its international Sport.

The thing is whatever Ramiz is complaining about is justified. But then everytime you can't blame the system, at some point players have to take some responsibility especially for things that they can control. Most of the players in the team have been playing international cricket since a long time, there is no excuse for them to not have better fitness or power game. These are things you learn in on your time and with your own money, you don't need system to educate you on those aspects. I feel for Pakistani cricketers as they were the only ones with no experience whatsoever of playing on Indian grounds or pitches but you can't justify a loss to Afghanistan by 8 wickets in a do or die match.

Cricket team is a face of a dysfunctional and broken country. Pak cricket is truly dead and buried. We can only compete in T20’s.

Club and school cricket has completely collapsed as Ramiz said. There is no infrastructure for young kids to look at. The PCB itself is a political body - no vision but a gravy train for a few.

1950-2010 tenure was a fun and exciting ride where we produced world class talent.

RIP Pak cricket.

This fellow especially should not be uttering such words.

Pashun merchant....Jesse Lingaard on cricket administration. Half of the blame lies with Ramiz, this idiot should just shut up.

When can we mute this guy? Honestly I’m sick of his constant nonsense. Can he just crawl in a hole somewhere. We get away from commentary and he becomes chairman spouting nonsense, get rid of him there and he’s again behind the mic. Pakistan are finished in the tournament and he’s still spouting.

Rameez, be a smart operator and take a break

Star performers where?

Against Nepal and B/C string sides? Who do you think you are trying to fool here?

Rameez raja was the biggest Parachi ever he only got into the team because his dad was a commissioner. how can you call him honest.

average of mighty 30 in 200 odd games played for Pakistan, with only 9 100's playing in top order in 200 games

Exactly. All other batsman (Saleem Malik, Inzamam, Ijaz, Saeed Anwar, Aamir Sohail, Yousuf) during 90s were miles above Rameez Raja

Ramiz was basically the 90's version of Imam or you can say he is the one Imam was inspired by.

Imam is much better, and has a better range of strokes. Rameez was a strokeless wonder. I have seen him play, and I know how much talent he had.

I don't think Ramiz did a lot of great work during his time as PCB chairman. It is easy to criticize team and the system when they are losing and all of our ex-cricketers are doing it at the moment.

That's one thing he wasn't. He was actually a beautiful player to watch when on song. For his talent he underachieved badly.

Stay on topic ,I'm talking about him being honest as the Chairman of PCB. If a player gets selected unfairly ( if you think so about Ramiz ) is that his fault or of the selector's . When was the last time you hear of any player refused to be selected because there were more deserving players available for the position.

You can't really blame the system or domestic structure if you don't make the right selections or tactics.

That's one thing he wasn't. He was actually a beautiful player to watch when on song. For his talent he underachieved badly.
You're the first fan whom I've heard saying that. I saw him play. He's quite possibly the most talentless batsman I've seen among all who have played 50 Tests or more.

Ramiz clearly cannot stand the fact that the next skipper is going to be a Karachite i.e. Sarfaraz or Shan Masood over the Lahorite Babar Azam. Everyone can see how hateful his expressions were when Sarfaraz scored that match saving century against NZ and Ramiz was then queried on why Sarfaraz was kept out of the team for so long.

No where near. The guy could play. I saw him live in 87, he was a beautiful timer if the ball. He was also a good hooker and puller. Not a good player of spin, pretty bad in fact. Too many soft dismissals and that's the reason for the poor record.

Ramiz Raja is somewhat right as well. What can Babar do when your top blowers are totally out of touch? Batsmen are failing. This is not just his responsibility. It is a team sport and the team has to come together to get some results.

Ramiz was in charge when we had that awful test series against Australia. And he said things like look at their pace attack, that's why we need flat decks. He made what could have been a great series a complete bore to watch, and we still ended up losing.

This same logic can be applied to all previous captains.

Who gave these absurd statements during his chairmanship, commentary stint & Youtube? People who are defending Ramiz must understand that he was a rubbish player and failed as a chairman. It is embarrassing to hear these statements from a cricketer who has played so much international cricket, a professional commentator & a man who has served as a chairman PCB. It would be better for Babar if Ramiz keeps his mouth shut.

1. Defeated billion-dollar industry
2. Blank cheque ready for Pakistan team if they will defeat India
3. I suggested to Babar Azam that look, England are playing the T20 format in the 5-day version, so you better pick T20 players here
4. Babar Azam was here with the Chief Selector before leaving for the World Cup, and I asked him what are your plans against India, Ramiz said. “I can tell you how to get rid of Rohit Sharma right now and Babar was intrigued. I said get Shaheen Afridi bowling at 100mph, get a man at short-leg. Just bowl that inswinging yorker at 100mph and do not give him a single and keep him on strike. You will get him out."
5. Babar Azam is no less than Don Bradman. In white-ball cricket, he has statistically become the best player in the world. I have never seen so much consistency from a player in such a risky format. The base of which is his technique and temperament. He has no technical issues, whether it is a grassy pitch or a pitch like Karachi, where bowlers generally struggle
6. I absolutely love him… Yeah, want to marry him

Extremely weird and cringe love for Babar Azam. His double standards when commenting on him (playing at a below par sr) and others who do the same are so blatant

Salman Butt on his YouTube channel has criticized Ramiz Raja for his recent comments on the challenges faced by cricketers in the club matches:

“Ramiz Raja recently mentioned that cricketers are not permitted to use spikes in club cricket, and the grounds are allocated to corporate entities. If that’s accurate, what actions did you take during your chairmanship? You had the option to secure the grounds or provide financial support to the clubs. Even after holding the position of chairman, it seems you prefer to merely voice complaints."

Cricket in Pakistan is going through a tough time. The problem isn't caused by intellectuals, but a series of bad decisions over the past year may lead to lasting damage. I hope in the tenure of Mohammad Hafeez, we will reap some good results.

Ramiz Raja believes that for Pakistani cricket to thrive, while speaking at World Cricket Connects, an event at Lord's hosted by the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC):

“When I was the chairman, I used to tell the team all the time, until or unless you beat India or be competitive against them, the world will not recognise you. That is the landmark.”

"They did reasonably well for about a year, year and a half. Then the general turbulence that the country is going through is being reflected in the performance of the team. You want to be in the bubble but at times, the players are just not capable of creating that bubble. We’ve got to start from scratch and make it happen again.”

“Ex-cricketers need to understand the value of an India-Pakistan contest. Fans should not be missing this spectacle."

“It’s our job to say that let’s put politics to one side and play cricket because it will benefit the world. We need a stronger, positive vibe surrounding the issue. The onus is on Indian ex-cricketers and Pakistani ex-cricketers to make it happen.”

“You have got to think outside the box. If I were a Pakistan administrator, I would look at triangulars or having regular Test cricket schedule, because right now what is happening is that Test cricket in Pakistan is at best a filler."

“You should build a Test series and put in a filler in the shape of three 50-over matches or three T20s. What is happening now in most of Asia is you have five T20s and one Test match, or five ODIs and no Test matches.”

“Scheduling has a lot to do with why Test cricket is being dealt a severe blow in our part of the world. I would look at a proper Test schedule. Play less, maybe, but play proper Test series so it’s given significance.”

“We have not had a bilateral series against India for the last 15-20 years and we have survived. We make decent money from PSL (Pakistan Super League)."

“It actually made us stronger because we had to look inwards and get the local sponsorship and the local stakeholders interested in our model. We told the team we do not have a lot of resources so the only way you can become a hit is by winning."

This guy had the cricketing world as a captive audience and his needle is still stuck on India India India.

Many prominent current and ex cricketers outlined their vision for the game but this guy comes on stage and just says India India India.

Ramiz was an extremely limited batsman who looked pretty defending, that's about it. His primary objective was saving his wicket, throughout his career. Never really improved his skillset and was always predictable.

So what really surprises me is the stature and reverence he commands today. I'm not saying Ramiz doesn't have his positives, he dresses up well. Albeit, the question is why is this the expert Pakistan cricket turns to? There are better folk out there.

Wasn't limited as a batsman, had a decent range of strokes. But wasn't very successful at test level, was more successful as an Odi batsman.

However he is one of the few good commentators in Pakistan cricket, Wasim Akram is another. However many former players peddle conspiracy theories or are stuck in their old quarrels like Amir Sohail, Salim Malik, Kamran Akmal etc. Pakistan need more ex player who can communicate with the cricketing world, we don't have many. Hence Ramiz is the one, all the foreign media often turns too.

Rambo should save his opinions for his YouTube channel.

Leave educated platforms for professional, intelligent, well spoken individuals/athletes.

Ramiz Raja (an uncontrollable open mouth), an average cricketer, and a much worse analyst

As a proud Pakistani and living in USA; not many fellow Pakistanis regards RR highly -- He is considered as a below average cricketer who was just lucky to be part of 1992 winning team. Thats why he keep telling stories about 1992, because he has nothing much to tell about his own cricket..His policies as chairman : flat track in test matches, PJL, etc. are few pretty bad policies that is hurting Pakistan cricket today. He is also the reason of hyping up Babar too much (when he was developing into a good batsman and a leader) that Baabr has now start thinking he is some kind of Saeed Anwar or Inzi..

You did nothing when in the driving seat mate, if anything, you made matters worse.

Cricket hi Babar hai

Babar hi dunya hai

Without Babar, there is nothing in Pakistan; the birds would stop tweeting (outside when he opens the batting with his mate), water supplies would finish and there would never ending famine.

If Sarfraz Nawaz was Oxygen for the Pakistani team, Babar Azam is Oxygen for the Pakistani nation, without it, kaaun bacheyaga Pakistan?

Without Babar their is no Pakistan as immy once said Babar is the greatest pakistani to ever exist since Muhammad Ali Jinnah

Given all the unintentional comedy he used to dole out during commentary as gaffe, I was super surprised when he was made the head of PCB. He never looked anywhere near sharp when it came to analysis of players or reading of the game during any time of his commenting career.

It was a bit like RCB appointing anchor Charu Sharma as it's first ever CEO way back in 2008. Didn't end well at all for both.

Ramiz did his part of destroying Pakistan cricket by giving that babar so much power.

He should keep his mouth shut.

There was a Congress leader who once said India is Indira and Indira is India.

Babar Azam is the Indira Gandhi of Pakistan
