Could it be Brian Lara? maybe a bit of Viv Richards and splattering of AB de Villiers!

Or you always wanted to play like :ua ?

So lets hear it from our batsmen :)

Shahid Afridi. I tried to copy him the most.

I also tried to copy Tamim Iqbal, Mushfiqur Rahim, and Saeed Anwar.

As a kid i tried copying inzamam. With my *** popping out and having my bat hunched. Such a terrible site :))

I liked to play my shots late. Thr more late i played the more i was accurate.
I used to copy playing the sweep shot of younis khan.

At club level i copied misbah. Best technique for playing spin. Straight bat defending

I loved emulating yousufs drives. Man he was a good batsmen, what a treat to watch.

saeed anwar, which was way beyond my talent level, but i was 7 or 8 and didnt care.

I said in the bowling style imitation thread that I was able to copy quite a few pretty well but, when it comes to batting I wanted to but couldnt exactly imitate many. I tried Inzi, Razzaq, Gayle, Yousuf etc but I am not sure if the imitation was as good as by bowling action imitations.

Loved trying to copy Yousuf though, his back lift, bat flow and stroke play were one of the best ever sights in cricket.

I never really copied anyone just did what I was comfortable with unfournantely I wasn't good at batting was more of a bowler but friends said kinda had a stance like anwar Ali

I'd say Saeed Anwar. Quite sure I fell well short of it though :)

Sehwag, with that high backlift, but my reaction time was not fast enough so couldn’t make it work. Outside of Afridi, definitely someone you were eager to see what would happen when he came to the crease during those days in the 2000s.

I loved the Miandad style of taking on bowlers....sadly that's where the comparison stopped.

None.

When batting, j always tried to be natural. Complete opposite of bowling where I copied everyone and never quite developed an action of my own.

Batting is very personal.

It's spirituality for me.

When I'm out there with the bat in my ha ds, I'm the master of my destiny and I'm the king or my world.

yeh, and i looked like Bismah Maroof while batting :))

The way she brings her bat from the outside is similar how i batted.

So yes, i might have copied Bismah Maroof aswell :misbah3

I used to imitate M.Azharuddin. Not sure why but using his batting stance always helped me flicking the leg stump balls better. Advice to young boys, try it. You will hardly miss anything on pads.

Sometime I also used to imitate Michael Bevan who is my all time favorite batsman.

I grew up as a kid in Australia and my first elementary school coach was from the 1950s, 60s era - an old man with hardcore follower of the book. I recall, he used to talk about Neil Hervey & Rohan Kanhai lot to the almost toddlers he had to spend time with. Since I was right handed, I think my first crash was Rohan Kanhai, but I never saw him play. First batsman that saw on tv and became instant fan was - Greg Chappell. It almost looked like batting was so natural to him - just like we normal people walk. He was like 6’2”, so never was going to match him in height, but tried to copy that beautiful stance, grip, elbow position and his movement while batting. I still believe for a youngster trying to become a professional cricketer (batsman), best two examples are Greg Chappel & Tendulkar; may be BA Richards as well. Viv, Lara, Javed were a bit unconventional- found their own way to success.

I like Grineedge as well, but later I actually moved to double eyed stance of Javed because I started to use glasses and it was easier to look at the ball straight, rather than from side on position.

If I were 12 now, I probably would have tried to copy Babar - Mickey Arthur’s greatest success of his professional career & biggest gift to PAK cricket - the rescued Babar Azam from the tight grips of Basit Alis & Javed Miandads & Misbah Ul Haqs.

Never copied a batsman,it is very tough to do that. When you bowl you have time to adjust your action but when u face a proper fast bowler reaction time is less and you just need to put bat on ball in any way possible

I was amongst those type of batsman who need to play some overs before trying to attack.
My signature shot was similar to imam ul haq, when I wanted to increase the run rate I just walked down the pitch and hoick it and usually I connected.

Didnt copied any batsmen's playing style but copied a lot of batting shots of many players. There were a couple of shots of Tendulkar that I practised a lot.

One was inside and out against spinners over extra cover and the other one was late cut shot against fast bowlers, the only difference being me playing against 100 Kmph bowler :))

When I first played cricket I had very little knowledge of cricket and had only seen Afridi on TV so just tried to slog everything. Later as I realized I was really bad at batting I started to try and copy the tuk tuk style of Misbah, which worked a lot better as I stopped getting out after 2 or 3 balls! Was still very bad at batting and never managed to score more than 20 in my whole very short time playing cricket!

I was a left hand batsman , so I used to copy Aamir Sohail , with his extra high back lift. My drives were good because of that , it punched more power into shots.

I enjoyed copying Miandad's tip and run to annoy the opposition.

I played my own style but short of length outside off I always wanted to cut ferociously like sanath and when i found the boundary tony greig's commentary "that's gone to the boundary like a rocket.." played in my head

Sachin, I wanted to be the first to bat and consume as many deliveries possible / bat time without a care in the world for the team, I would find it most satisfying to reach any personal milestone

With the ball they use to call me Murali because of my action and Mushy by the time I had released the ball
