As you all know, PSL 2018 will have another team added to make a total of six teams. PSL management have not yet decided who that will be. Financially, it would make sense to go into the biggest market that doesn't have a team yet. Those cities are Faisalabad, Multan, and Hyderabad. However, Najam Sethi has said that Sialkot is front runner for the sixth team, or he would really love to have a team in Kashmir.

Do you guys agree with this? What city should get the sixth team?

For me it is Multan. The Seraiki area has a large market that is different from North Punjab. They also have a nice stadium and have talended players. Although both Rawalpindi and Faisalabad have a similar population as Multan, I feel they are too close to already existing teams.

Multan team with Inzi coach :inzi

Team should be based in a city with international standard cricket stadium with floodlights. PSL is be trying to bring more and more matches back to Pakistan, so have team should be in cities with cricket stadiums.

Kashmir sounds good, but I am not sure if there is a international standard cricket stadium in Kashmir.

Since Gwadar is developing such a big hype a cricket team wud be another great boost for its PR. Gwadar Gunners.

Since we have one team from every region, logically the 6th should be from Kashmir

I hope it's Kashmir as I am from their. So I can then support a team in PSL whole hearted instead of changing teams every season.

If we want to troll India, than it should be Kashmir

And if we want to troll India big big time, the name needs to be Kashmir Fighters

It should be Sialkot. they bring the most to the PSL interms of economics.

Kashmir is not a city. What city from Kashmir would Kashmiris want to represent them?

In many North American sports leagues often times there are teams for states aswell. For example in NHL there are two New York teams one for New York city and one for New York state.

It has to be faisalabad, reasons 3rd largest city, have it's own international cricket stadium, crazy fanbase, but i wouldn't mind kashmir either, if they want to keep one team per province formula.

Incorrect. Both, Islanders and Rangers, are from New York city.

Faisalabad is right beside Lahore. It beats the point.

Punjab already has two teams in Islamabad which is for the north, Lahore for central. If there's going to be another, then it would make sense to target south. Otherwise just go with a city from Kashmir.

Population base, not just the city itself but also the surrounding towns and villages. The population base not only provides the fan base for spectators that will go to watch matches, but will also buy shirts and souvenirs, size of tv audiences, brand strength and needs of potential local sponsors ...etc.

On that basis - Faisalabad (The Manchester of Punjab?)

Kashmir, because as someone said I would like to have a team to fully support. Muzzafarabad could be an ideal city however not sure if Kashmir has stadiums!!!

Jammu and Kashmir!! not only Kashmir then I can support that team other than Lahore or sialkot should be another one I have many relatives in sialkot

Hyderabad. Every major community is represented except for the Sindhi's.

Islamabad - Punjabi
Lahore - Punjabi
Peshawar - Pasthun
Quetta - Baloch
Karachi - Muhajir

Sindhis need to feel welcomed in Pakistan as well.

Sindhis and Baloch people are overlooked far too often in everything. Interior sindh has no good cricket facilities and I doubt Balochistan has any either.

Although I wouldn't mind seeing a team from FATA either so that it can slowly become more involved in mainstream Pakistan.

Somewhat correct. There are multiple examples of this: New Jersey Nets, New England Patriots, Texas Rangers, etc.
Incorrect. Both, Islanders and Rangers, are from New York city.
Islanders are from Long Island, NY. Even though their home games are played in Brooklyn, NY.

So teams can be from regions or cities; It doesn't matter; But Pakistan only has 5 regions which is not enough. So cities is best bet here.

Fun fact: Hyderabad is also a very Urdu speaking city. If you really want Sindhi representation then you would need to have a Sukkur or a Larkhana side.

Karachi can represent Sindhis. There are suburbs and villages of the city that have many Sindhis there.

Peshawar can rep. FATA. No problem.

Actually Hyderabad is very much Sindhi. The Urdu speakers are only leading in politics and business, but the Sindhi's exceed them comfortably in number (but we shouldnt make it Sindhi vs Urdu speakers, we're Muslim and Pakistani first).

Karachi can't represent Sindhi's. Sindhi's are a minority there and no one speaks it.

Hyderabad or I'd say Sukkur if we want to have team for the Sindhi's.

I think Kashmir as the 6th team would be a great idea.

After that, a team from south Punjab makes a lot of sense so Multan could be a good option.

Hopefully, with the support of the PCB, the PSL and specifically the Quetta franchise, cricket can be further developed in underserved areas like Balochistan which has minimal infrastructure at this point. For now, its pretty disappointing that even the Gladiators only have one player in their whole squad from Quetta, and he didn't even get a game this PSL.

Just make 3 more teams in 3rd edition..
Multan , Sialkot , Kashmir

After 5th add more 2 Hyderabad with Gawadar/ Faisalabad / Larkana

Fata will be merge in KPK soon

Meaningless poll as PCB already expressed their intentions to add Sailkot as 6th team.

Makes sense because the Sialkot business community is very financially strong. I expect them to be easily the second or third richest team in the PSL.

Does anyone know what's the procedure to buy the team in PSL? Probably wont be a bad investment...

PSL is too skewed towards North it's 1 : 3, if I take Quetta at middle. A 6th franchise at Gawadar isn't a bad idea. The way these Chinese are spending for soccer, if Gawadar Gunners can find a Chinese owner or at least sponsor .......

There are definitely many reasons to have a team in Gwadar:

1 - We can capitalise on the ongoing hype it already has

2 - It brings more of the South into the equation as you state

3 - There is already plenty of investment and I think some state of the art stadium and training facility can surely be added to the budget

4 - Chinese companies will definitely be looking for a platform to market the companies which are now operating in Pakistan and PSL can be a good avenue for them

5 - Lastly, with Gwadar's security controlled by the army and with there being so much at stake I can see 3 venues coming up in Dubai, Sharjah and Gwadar. Gwadar is very close to Dubai if direct flights start taking place. Slowly venues can be shifted to Gwadar, Karachi and Lahore once things start getting better.

Sialkot has a very strong chance but I'd love to see Kashmir or at least the team should be named after Kashmiris.

Sialkot and Kashmir should be added. Would be even better if Sialkot retain their old name (Sialkot Stallions), old colors (Red and Grey) and some of their old players (Malik, Haris Sohail, Bilawal Bhatti)

1) 'Kashmir' is not a city. Team can be from Muzzafarabad.

2) Not really clear on whether the area termed Azad Jammu & Kashmir is actually fully intergrated into the state of Pakistan under the constitution...but anyway.

Would prefer the team to be from an area where there is a tangible cricket following, with a stadium.

Hyderabad, Sialkot, Multan are places that come to mind. Multan especially as it can get a Seraiki following, and is in a geographically different location (Lahore South Punjab, Islamabad North Punjab).

Would like to see a 'Sindhi' team too. Karachi itself is its own entity, and not really a Sindhi city.

Gilgit will be a better city to name after if we are to choose a team from kashmir region

If a team from AJK is added, It has to be named Kashmir. Gilgit, muzzafarabad or other any other name will simply not cut it. The name Kashmir will get support from other side of the border too. It will be an emotional thing.

PSL needs more rivalries within the league. The new team should be Rawalpindi so we could have our own twin city rivalry going. :usman

Faisalabad has a stadium and a tradition of big games

Largest by area is Balochistan, and its capital is Quetta

Largest by population is Punjab, and its capital is Lahore

How about making the name of the teams by ethnicity??? More passion, more rivalry, more concentrated support.

If that happens what would be the names you propose???

that does not sound amazing, usually that does not happen that they name teams on ethnicities. the biggest cities have all kinds of ethnicities living in them so it would not sound right, for example there are lots of people in Islamabad that came from Pakhtun areas, Gilgit and Kashmir, lots of Punjabis and Pathans live in Karachi too

Everyone lives everywhere. That's why every stadium will get every team supporter. It is rather good for match, not bad.

team names have nothing to do with crowd, the crowd will come and every stadium will be full if it happens in Pakistan.

Wheter it's a good name like Islamabad United or a cringeworthy name like Rising Pune Supergiants, crowd will come because they just wanna watch cricket no one cares about the team name

Sialkot because of T20 history oherwise anyone of Faisalabad, Multan and Sialkot. Pindi, Kashmir and Hyderabad don't make commercial sense

What about the Raiwind Shers in honour of Mian Saab? :)

The supporters for this team will chant against the other sides but in the end when they lose will say "oh we don't support Nawaz Sharif"

I would love Sialkot coming up with the name Sialkot Ghoray. Malik leading them to the psl title.

why Sialkot? Sialkot should be way behind Multan and Faisalabad.

If a business owner puts a team in Sialkot instead of Faisalabad, he deserves to be fired on the spot.

making a team on the name of kashmir will open another Pandora box .. i would love to watch sialkot team in next PSL

Now that I think about a Kashmiri team would be lovely it would not only garner support from all of Gilgit-Balistan but you can bet your bottom dollar that all of Occupied Kashmir will also be support it.
