I think most of the countries makes pitches to give them home track advantage obviously. However, which ones over do it?

I think India is on top when it comes to doctoring the pitches. For example, CA Pujara is a top 5 batsman in Tests who averages 62 at home and 27 away versus top tier teams, which huge difference.

BD and RSA would be next on my list who tailors pitches to give them best home conditions.

South African pitches offer best balance to both teams, happened during the England and Current tour.

I am really disappointed how their pitches have become flat over the course of time.

They usually have fair combination of sporting vs flattish tracks. And their weather also offers swing conditions.

England.

Sure they can be flat but even then will offer turn on days 4/5 and some swing and seam on day 1. Only the Lords pitches recently have been very flat but as we saw last year Pak drew 2-2 in 4 matches, all games ended in a victory.

SA are second to England.

Aussie pitches are very poor now, pace and bounce but no turn, no seam.

India doctor their pitches to suit their batsmen or spinners, depending on the opposition's strengths. Just look at the difference between the pitches that England got when they toured and the pitches that Australia received.

South Africa's do not offer balance. Top order batsmen (1-3) average in the 20s there and batting is quite difficult even for the home batsmen. Plus, spinners have no help there, barring the odd pitch here and there.

I believe England have the best pitches/conditions. Even if the pitch is flat, some clouds can change that very quickly. Plus, spinners have help there as well and batsmen who can play the moving ball have done very well there.

I dont like the expectation for balanced pitches. What's the fun in seeing the same pitches everywhere?
This is a very subcontinental obsession

Previously, it was AUS - 6 venues offering something to everyone in a series. Now probably and surprisingly SRL. No one has noticed that Gale, Colombo (2), Kandy, Hambsntota & Palkekelle provides unique experience. For example, last SRL - AUS Series produced 10 ford for Herath, Perera & Starc - at the same time, I believe 8 Test hundreds were scored in 3 Test.

ENG wickets are also good.

I think it has to be SA. It is the only country which gives great opportunity for the visitors also to win, if they are good enough.

Never Seen A Full Game In Pakistan, But, My Grandad used to tell me stories of how we had some of the greatest pitches, great spin and great bounce and carry

England for me..

Sure, London has become a batsman's city in recent years, though bowl well and there is still enough for bowlers, especially with a Duke. Up North, more bowler friendly (more clouds!).

I RATE England for producing pitches (by design or not) which make for healthier competition. Australia/India/South Africa - very much favor the home side - more extreme bounce/spin/or swing.

UAE, while certainly Pak are comfortable there, feel its more a case of visitors without genuine decent spinners really struggling...

South Africa too.

South Africa definitely. Offers something for everyone. Bounce for spinners and fast bowlers, seam as well as swing for all kinds of fast bowlers. But the combination of bounce and pace of wickets give SA home advantage too.

England is too tilted towards just swing bowlers, and if they aren't then they are usually flat pitches. George Dobell said it best in a polite enquiry recently.

even england dont have advantage playing at home.. the team which has most FTBs can win there easily..

England too were masters at doctoring pitches. The classic examples are South Africa's tour to UK in 2012 and Ashes 2013, in both the series all pitches were very slow, carbon copies of Faisalabad pitch. They deliberately doctored it to assist Graeme Swann, it backfired badly against South Africa though as Amla and Kallis made monster scores. Now that they don't have any world class spinner, they've stopped preparing such pitches.

I'd say Sri Lanka has amazing pitches. This is why I love following cricket from that country.
