This is my list ranked in order of merit of pairs of Indian and Pakistani batsmen blended into one who when rolled together made the perfect batsmen.I have ignored statistics and considered the blending of different kinds of ability.Criteria was the mixing of technical correctness with creative genius ,artistry and power.Some were artists or wizards like Zaheer,Majid,Azhar ,Laxman and Vishy.Some were supreme technicians like Gavaskar and Hanif.Others were supreme craftsmen like Minadad and Younus Khan.Only Sachin had it all.Thus mainly combining defence with attacking agression.

1.Sunil Gavaskar-Majid Khan-The great technical skill and defence of Gavaskar with the creative genius and attacking agression of Majid would make the ulimate batsmen.Like an architect and magician rolled together.

2=Hanif Mohammad-Gundappa Vishwanath/V.V.S.Laxman

Techniques and artistry at it's supreme height.Hanif was a master while Vishy or VVS , magicians.Vishy and Laxman took batting wizardry to heights of the divine while Hanif took technical skill to a zenith no batsmen ever surpassed.

4.Hanif Mohammad-Mohammad Azharuddin

Supreme technique of Hanif combined with the poetry taken to it's supreme geight in batting by Azharuddin.

5.Rahul Dravid-Majid Khan-Genius of Majid with the solidity of Dravid would make a perfect batsmen.Reminiscent of a musical painter and an architect rolled into one.Majid took batting artistry to regions of the sublime while Rahul was the wall personified sculptor and poet rolled into one.

6.Sachin Tendulkar-Zaheer Abbas-The most complete batsmen ever with the most artistic.

7.Hanif Mohammad-Virat Kohli-Technical correctness at it's supreme height of Hanif mixed with the attacking agression of Virat would make the most complete of batsmen.

8.Sunil Gavaskar-Saed Anwar Technique and attacking skill in perfect proportion.

9.Sachin Tendulkar-Javed Miandad-Perfect blending of technical skill with improvisation and ability to combat.

10.Mohinder Amarnath-Inzamam Ul Haq-A wall blended with a tiger.

11.Rahul Dravid-Younus Khan-Perfect blending of water -tight technique with fluidity or power.

12.Javed Miandad-Azharuddin-The poetry of Azharudin mixed with the craft of Javed would make a true master.

Sehwag and Mudassar Nazar. A perfect combination of defence and attack

Virat Kohli and any random Pakistani

One is complete and does not require any enhancements.

I wouldn't exactly go that far, try combining Kohli with Hafeez and you will end up with a batsman playing exquisite drives and cuts and giving slip catching practice in between playing with an angled bat - the end result is that even a 'complete' batsman will get ruined and the Hafeez tendencies will get you OUT before the Kohli plans to play a long innings are executed. :) Moral of the story: Pakistani batsmen with suicidal tendencies can undo the qualities of any other batsman, only exception being Bradman who might just suffer a decrease in batting average from 100 to about 50.

Sachin Tendulker and Javed Miandad or Younis Khan. Tendulker's strokeplay, consistency and class along with Miandad/Khan's grit and sheer will to pull off a win for their team. In the case of Younis, you would also get a great conversion rate and a fourth innings master.

This is the perfect test batsman. You do not need anything else.

Dravid and Moyo. Dravid mental strength and Moyo stroke making , you get 1 of the finest batters Asia has ever seen.

Tendulkar and miandad, it doesn't get much better than that. The insane stroke making of Tendulkar, with the temperament, and composure of Miandad.

Not Gavaskar with his perfect technique or Majid Khan with his genius? Or Zaheer Abbas?What about Hanif with Laxman?Tendulkar is already complete and Miandad was not as artistic or naturally talented as Majid or Zaheer.

What about Zaheer Abbas or Majid Khan who were more artistic or talented than Javed?Problemnis that Tendulkar had it all while Gavaskar and Hanif were technically supreme and masters in defence.

Totally agreed, tendulkar lacked only one thing which was mental strength and grit..

Tendulkar with the mindset of Javed or YK will make the most complete batsmen ever.. Sachin techniquewise and stroke wise doesnt need any additions, only thing he lacked for strong mindset which someone like YK or Javed had..

Got to be Shahid Afridi blended with Rahul Dravid! Thats going to set the world on fire. Plus Rahul Dravid's ability of wicket keeping, combined with Afridi's spin!

Okay if you are looking for batting perfection or as close to it as humanly possible, then you want Zaheer Abbas and Sunil Gavaskar rolled into one.

Let me explain - Zaheer Abbas was known as the Asian Bradman, arguably the most elegant and stylish stroke player of all time, could score big runs and looked like never getting out at times when the conditions were set for batting - his weaknesses? His technique against top quality fast bowling had some question marks and as did his ability to handle pressure. So blend him with Sunil Gavaskar and you have technically the best batsman against fast bowling of all time and mental toughness and resilience that is second to none. The weaknesses of Abbas were the strengths of Gavaskar, but at the same time Sunny did not have the range of strokes, flamboyance or elegance of Zaheer. There can not be two batsmen who combined would complement each other as well as these two.

@Harsh - your thoughts?

Brilliant post. most analytical and spot on.I may have preferred Majid with his higher natural ability but still not as good player of spin as Zaheer.Still more destructive at his best.
