I was looking at Pakistan's best away ODI series wins. Following are the ones that come to mind

1) Carlton and United tri series victory in Australia in 1996-97. Pakistan, Australia and West Indies competed in the series. Pakistan defeated Australia 3-1 in the group stage and the hosts were unable to qualify for the finals. Pakistan won the series defeating West Indies in the finals 2-0

2) Cable and Wireless tri series in the West Indies in 2000. Pakistan, West Indies and Zimbabwe were the three teams who competed in the series. Pakistan defeated a strong West Indies 2-1 in the best of three finals to secure their first ever ODI series win the Caribbean.

3) Winning 2-1 in Australia in 2002 against an ATG Australian side.

4) Winning 4-2 in India in 2005 against a good Indian side.

5) Winning 2-0 in Sri Lanka in 2006 against a strong Sri Lankan team.

6) Winning 3-2 in New Zealand in 2011 against a good Kiwi side.

7) Winning 2-1 in South Africa in 2013 against a strong South African side.

So, which among these seven is Pakistan's best away ODI series victory?

1987 we beat India the World Champions 5-1 at home. Should have been 6-0 if not for the cheat umpire who should have called a no-ball in the last over

No mention of that "Aane do" series? :yk2

I personally think that was the most clinical performance that Pakistan have ever put in an ODI assignment apart from the CT2017. Against a pretty good albeit washed up Indian side on home soil amidst huge pressure after losing 4 big games in a row against them.....and almost sweeping it 3-0.

That really was  worthy.

I think 4-2 in 2005 is better than that. Pakistan were 2-0 down in that series and then staged a great comeback to win the final 4 matches to win the series 4-2.

Yeah, that was a great series win, beating the World Cup holders in their backyard 5-1.

There was a time 7-8 years ago when Pakistan toured India and South Africa back-to-back and beat them both in the ODIs.

On both occasions it was a left-handed opener who was the hero: Nasir Jamshed in India, and Imran Farhat in South Africa.

Some very good ones in this list. I rate the 2002 win vs ATG Aussie side. That was just phenomenal. Unbelievable by Pakistan.

2013 aane do India din't play some key players in that series so I don't think it was a particularly great victory.

4 -2 vs a strong Indian side in 2005 was outstanding too. However nothing beats Aussie 2002 series victory.

Don't think any other team apart from Pakistan could have beaten them in their backyard between 2000-2007 during that era. Maybe saffers.

The criteria when judging the best performance in a series personally is a) strength of opposition and b) the quality of the performance throughout the series in all departments.

Against Australia in 2002, we almost botched a simple chase of 160 in the 2nd ODI. In the 3rd ODI, we made a strong start batting first but stumbled again and only reached 250 thanks to fireworks from Wasim. So while that win meets criteria A, it doesn't meet criteria B as the batting was unconvincing.

For that reason, I'd rank India 2005 at the top. We were superb in all departments coming from 2-0 down away to a strong India side that were 2003 WC runners-up and beat us the year prior at home.

We set big totals and chased big totals, notably in Ahmedabad in a bearpit atmosphere. An unfancied attack bowled out of their skins and our fielding especially in Delhi was unbelievable with Yousuf pulling off two great runouts. That was the peak of the Inzamam-Woolmer era.

What about Carlton and United win in 96/97 ?
That was a great win too, but I would rate it below 2002, because the Aussie team in 97 while very strong wasn't as good as the Aussie team of 2002. 2002 Australia was a monster ODI side.

Fair enough, but I would argue that the West Indian team in that series was quite strong as well. So it was a great achievement winning an away tri series in Australia against two very strong sides.

That was a weaker side. Aussies din't actually deserve to win 1999 world cup. They got lucky.

2003 and 2007 was their best version. aTG side.

Yeah, 99 world cup was South Africa's if Donald hadn't choked and got run out. Aussies were really lucky.
