Was just thinking about this the other day when I was thinking what are the chances that I've got to witness two Ronaldos both of whom were the arguably the greatest of their generation.

Which name is most common amongst great cricketers? The most popular or skilled name if you like.

I'm guessing Mohammad or Michael.

There have been some amazing talented Mohammads from the Pakistani brothers (although this was a last name) to the more recent duo of Amir and Asif.

Michael has given us Clarke, Vaughan, Atherton and Holding.

Zaheer Abbas and Khan

Steve Waugh and Smith

Shane Warne, Watson and Lee.

Shoaib Akhtar and Malik.

Ian Botham, Healey and Bell

Allan Border and Lamb

I'm sure there are others.

Whichever is the winning name - I will name my next son after him to give him the best chance. Totally serious.

Most of the Michael's are more recent players which is probably because the name is more common with Irish Catholics.

Slater was the first Michael to play test cricket for Australia I believe

Why are John and Jack used interchangeably here? Am I missing na obvious nickname?

It's strange that Anglo names are used more commonly.

If you think about all the billions of people in the subcontinent we can't even string together half a team with the same name.

Jack is a nickname for John, like Bill and William, Jimmy and James etc

Though increasingly Jack has become a name in it's own right.

But all those Jack's have the first name John

Talking of First name, we can have a decent XI with Rahul's only

KL Rahul (w)
Rahul Dravid (c)
Rahul Sharma (Hong Kong)
Gahlaut Rahul Singh
Rahul Tripathi
Rahul Sapru
Rahul Tewatia
Rahul Chahar
Rahul Sanghvi
Rahul Sharma
Rahul Shukla

Only 1 pacer but still a decent looking XI. Some uncapped players are there too

Talking of last names, we can get strong XIs with Sharma, Singh and Khan as last name
