My 6 best innings ever in a world cup semi-final

1.Inzamam Ul Haq innings of 60 v New Zealand in 1992

2.Aravinda De Silva 66 v India in 1996

3.Mahela Jayewardene v New Zealand in 2007

4.Grant Elliot 84 v South Africa in 2015

5.Zaheer Abbas 93 v West Indies in 1979

6.Mohsin Khan 70 v West Indies in 1983.

1.Placed Inzy's 60 at the top as it was craftsmanship at its highest zenith taking Pakistan out of the depths of despair to reach the pinnacle of glory.

2.Aravinda displayed mastery on a broken track at Kolkata reminding one of a medical surgeon skillfully operating.

3.Jaywardene's century was grace personified expressing the sweetness of the sound of a flute and above all won the game for his country.

4.Grant Elliot displayed iron nerves in taking his team over the line with a glorious dispaly of controlled hitting.Did exactly what the doctor ordered

5.Zaheer Abbas took cricketing art to heights of the sublime taking the graetset pace atck by the sword.

6.Mohsin Khan displayed great technical skill against.the best pace attack ever when every other Pakistani batsmen failed on the fastest of tracks.

No 5 and No 6 were in losing causes where the player did not win the match for the team, perhaps they should be discounted.

Were they not glorious aesthetically?is that not also a criteria of selection. Also against the greatest bowling

Symonds 90 odd off 115 in Wc 2003 comes to mind.
On not so batting friendly wicket, after loosing early wickets and against and attack of Murali and Vaas.

Arvinda for me, only match that still haunts me , no other match even comes close, as a kid that was annoying and tragic ,detested Lankan team with a passion in 90s

Aravindas innings was the best ever WC innings for me for different reasons

1) 100000 home supporters raising the decibels

2) Most influential openers gone without nothing on the board

3) Home team on a high after beating arch rivals in the QF.

4) It was a counter attack rather than rebuilding.

5) Being their first semi final appearance.

Grant Elliot inning for me.

That guy chased down 300 in 43 overs itself. A magnificent magnificent inning! Many legends won't be able to do this.

Raina's 50 in Mohali deserves to be on the list, he was the one who took the match away from Pakistan that day, the pitch was not easy and pressure sky high.
From your list, I rate Inzi and De Silva ones very highly, joint best.

Good innings in and of themselves. But innings that lead to victory for the team are what should be defined as "great"

Inzi's one. He was racing against the time. With dark clouds above, pakistan were in huge pressure to score fast. i don't think any other inning would even come closer to that gem. Elliot's one is the second one. Aravinda's one is third on my list.
