Can it get any worse?

Pitches made by highway engineers, terrible individual performances by Pakistan's top batters, lack of strategy, hopeless selections to name a few issues, coupled with no accountability or responsibility for losses.

Surely heads need to roll?

Who in your opinion will be the first one to get the chop from the captain, Head Coach, Chief Selector or the Chairman?

All 4 clowns including rameez need to be sacked at same time.

Ramiz has given Babar full authority as captain to run the show. Both of them are equally culpable for this debacle.

Saqlain is going anyway in Feb. Wasim is just a rubberstamp.

The one who selected the skipper...
The one who gave gave inputs to select the team...
The one who ordered tailor made pitches...
The one who came up with the brilliant idea of playing bits and pieces T20 players in Test matches....
The one who thinks there is not enough Test match talent in the country...
The one who has transformed the shaheens into a BRAAAAND....

I'm following Pakistan cricket for almost 30 years. One thing I know we'll is that nothing is going to change.
Once we loose to NZ we have the PSL and everything will be forgotten. We will be back praising on how talented our youngsters are. How tough is the standard of PSL, how we have unearthed some new gems etc etc. It will be party time...all these criticism will be buried under the mud.

Bring back departmental cricket!

Get rid of Rameez and Waseem.

Bring back a decent coach, Flower, Mickey or someone else.

Get rid of Babar from all captaincy.

Sarfraz Test captain
Shadab Limited Overs captain.

Rizwan vs Haris.

Babar bats at 3 in all formats.

Find decent fast bowlers, bring back Amir for all formats.

One day World Cup is coming and we don’t have bowlers one pacer who can bowl 10 overs.

None..
Saqlain will be changed, not because anyone has any shame..but his contract is anyways ending in Feb..so thats he only change wr will see

Babar will comtinue to be the captain and Ramiz will continue to be the chairman..unfortunately

Babar Azam should and will not be sacked as captain. He is the only player who deserves to be in the team.So he is an automatic choice for captain. Saqlain has done good job with spinners so he should not be sacked either. The two persons thst need to be kicked are mohammad yousaf and m wasim. Yusuf claims to be a batting coach but he cannot even correct the technical issues of any batsman. He should be kept away from pcb. M Wasim needs to go because he has absolutely zero eye for talent. He selected t20 players in tests. He should be kicked as soon as possible.

The saving grace for all of these guys is that the NZ series is just around the corner and it's unlikely that any of them will be booted out now.

So they'll buy a bit of time.

My guess - the Chief Selector will go first.

If mo wasim was sacked now you would probably end up with Rameez picking the squad for NZ series. 6 days till next series starts so doesn't look like any heads will roll yet.

Can I just ask

Did the chief selector select the squad for England and New Zealand or is there going to be a separate squad announcement for the NZ series?

Surely this squad of players isn’t going to be the one for the NZ series?

Good question we shall waite and find out :)

They should all be sacked as a hole they all played part in a miserable series.

I thought the Test squad was just for the England series and not both Test series.

Only squad for Eng was announced earlier.. new squad will be announced for NZ

I have a weird feeling the squad was for both England and New Zealand

I think it will be separate Squad in which I think Salahuddin will be picked instead Kamran Ghullam and Mir Hamza will be picked and Hassan Ali will make a come back.

Babar in his presser:

"We have the best management. We have got a coaching panel of former cricketers who have given great performances for Pakistan. Coaches can only give you plan and share experience whereas it is the player who has to execute in the field."

I think if some sense prevails, Babar needs to go first. The reason is that he isn't captaincy material and Pakistan need him more as a batter than as captain. Not sure who will take over as I don't see any candidates but Babar surely should not captain Pakistan in any format even if they win 2-0 against NZ.

Babar in his presser:

"We have the best management. We have got a coaching panel of former cricketers who have given great performances for Pakistan. Coaches can only give you plan and share experience whereas it is the player who has to execute in the field."

So he accepts that he has failed to execute the plans on the field himself as a captain? People may have lots of issues with Virat but lets look at this, he took over the captaincy from Dhoni in Tests in 2015. When he came back to India after that series, he told Indian pacers that they need to take Hazlewood as the template if they want to improve. He made sure that India pacers only went upwards from then on. Since that series India pacers are only 2nd in terms of Averages to SA. This is what a leader should do when you know what the problem is with your team. The only thing I hear from Babar & Saqlain are excuses. You don't need a captain who gives excuses after a defeat. You need a captain who accepts that they are bad and thinks how things can improve from there.

If Pakistan defeat a struggling NZ next, it does not mean that the team has suddenly become great. Babar Azam as a captain isn't great at least in Tests. Virat was a poor LO captain but as a Test captain he was brilliant. I feel that he gave up the captaincy too soon after the series loss against SA. He should have continued leaving Rohit to take over LO captaincy.

I’m pretty sure Saqlain will probably walk. He doesn’t really seem someone who would cling on.

I can see Wasim walking too.

Rambo and Babar will hold on for dear life and they are biggest problem. They may even team up to support each other.

There was a nonsense interview on YouTube with Saqlain by the PCB saying that they were brave to give test debuts against a big team like England.

Not brave but stupid to give test debuts to Mohammed Wasim Jnr, Haris Rauf, Mohammed Ali and Zahid Mahmood whose four day experience was little or not that good.

The test debutants who did well in Shakeel & Abrar did have a good 4 day record. So less 'bravery' and more intelligence please Saqi!

Pure mismanagement

If you wanted to play a veteran leggie, why discard Yasir Shah who had 200+ Test wickets and play Long Hop Zahid?

If you wanted to play a senior citizen pace bowler who bowls at 80mph, why discard Hassan Ali?

Dropping Fawad for one bad series, but carrying RiZwan and Azhar for repeated poor performances also made no sense

Kohli had a vision for his team and owned. Babar in comparison is a day to day 9-5 operator who puts his yaar dostian at the expense of the team and his cricket intellect, iq is zero.

So no one resign gracefully because they know they will continue for another few years. PCB will do another fake coach hunt to buy some time and same all frauds will be retained.

So nothing happened as usual!!!

The title says it all. All tall talk from Ramiz, Babar and mr. pretender coach but everyone still holding their positions. Most likely they will carry on another 2-3 years. PCB will buy some time by prolonging fake coach hunt citing NZ tour in 5 days (When they wasted more than a year to find a decent coach or captain), then PSL and everything will be normal again. These people have thick skins and no shame at all.

The PM has officially signed the order to remove Ramiz with Sethi. Time for Ramiz to gracefully resign

Shahid Afridi Speaking on TV:

“This (replacing Babar as captain) is not the solution. The mindset of the captain needs to be changed. Management needs to change the mindset, they need to demand a certain style of cricket from the captain and his team. If you have to take the Pakistan team to the top, you need to change Babar's mindset. It's not only his mistake or responsibility. The management also has the responsibility, they are so much more senior. They need to make the players understand on the style of cricket they expect from them"

Looks Rameez and mo wasim are off, saqi and babar need the boot as well.

Pakistan head coach Saqlain Mushtaq could step down following the team's Test debacle against England at home, with sources also saying that Babar Azam might also lose his captaincy in the longest format by July next year. A source close to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) told PTI on Wednesday that the former off-spinner could leave after the home series against New Zealand, beginning with the Test in Karachi on December 26. The source said that immediately after the Test ended in Karachi on Tuesday, Babar and Saqlain had flown to Lahore.

"A high-level meeting was held in the office of the PCB chairman Ramiz Raja at the Gaddafi Stadium in which chief selector, Mohammad Wasim also participated," the source said.

He said Babar, Saqlain and Wasim briefed Raja on why Pakistan had lost the Test series 3-0. "Every aspect of the team, selection matters, the captaincyand Saqlain's role were discussed threadbare in the nearly three-hour-long meeting," the source added.

He said the chief selector was supposed to announce the squad for the two Tests against New Zealand after the Karachi Test ended on Tuesday, but the announcement was delayed till Wednesday on Raja's instructions.

The source added that Raja had given a piece of his mind to Babar, Saqlain and Wasim and made it clear that he was not happy with the selections made for the series.

"Babar told the chairman that the injury issues with the three main fast bowlers, Shaheen (Afridi), Haris Rauf, and Naseem Shah, had hit their plans hard and weakened the bowling considerably, allowing England batters to score freely," the source said.

The source added that Babar told Raja that right now Pakistan don't have the experience and quality players required to take on teams like Australia, England and New Zealand.

Saqlain confirmed to Raja that, as earlier decided, he will leave his head coach's position after the New Zealand series in January and the PCB should start looking for a new coach.

The source also said that the board felt Babar would be better off just captaining the white-ball squads and that the Test captaincy should be given to someone else, preferably Shan Masood or Mohammad Rizwan.

"A lot of discussion has been held on Babar's future as Test captain and it was decided to maintain status quo for now." The source said that a unanimous decision had been taken that it would not be prudent to remove Babar as Test captain between now and July as it would demoralise the team and also affect the captain's form.

"But what is decided is that, in July Babar will be changed as Test captain," the source said.

The highlighted points are deeply concerning. There seems to be a severe lack of intelligence in the board, highest ranks of PCB right now.

-Why delay Babar's removal from Test captaincy until July?
-Why does Babar believe Naseem and Rauf are two of his crucial Test fast bowlers?
-Why is Babar's white ball captaincy, in particular his T20i captaincy safe?
-Why is Shan Masood and Rizwan (who is struggling in this format) better off doing the captaincy?

Stupidity of the highest order. Seems like this regime is adamant on making the stupidest decisions in its final hours at the job.

I am sure the new sensible regime will countermand and change. Rest assured Pak cricket will be in good hands.

Pointless excercise. Sethi will now decide the future course of action. The decision on the captain, coach is a vital one which many chairman's underestimate.

What is worrying is the fact that babar and saqlain and co think pakistan played well and barring one or two sessions and wouldve won the series

The first thing to moving forward is accepting mistakes and the issues at hand and not make excuses for them

All ive heard is excuses, ie pakistan didnt have their first choice pacers, they played well, the result was down to inexperience bowlers

Babar and co need to accept it wasnt down to luck or kudrat ka nizam Their selctions, tactics captaincy and mentality all were poor and lacking Otherwise babar will lose his job after the nz series ends in defeat again

One good thing about Sethi is that he leaves to professionals for appointing anyone unlike dictator Ramiz Raja

Winning/losing happens but squad and playing XI selections were atrocious. Clear that MW and SM have to be sacked for this.

Despite all injuries etc. the fact that guys like Zahid and Mohammed Ali were played is absolutely shameful. These guys would not get into a Bangladesh A team. Further poor role definition of Agha, Nawaz and Faheem is inexcusable. It is ok that they failed but way in which they were used was very very poor and shows zero thought process

One has gone but not because of the loss.

As per reports, Sarfraz to lead Pakistan against New Zealand, Rizwan to be rested and Babar relinquished from captaincy

So if we get smashed by NZ because Sethi made a decision to bring back an ageing WK as Captain, should Sethi resign. I hope its not true but let

lol what? what if doesnt perform? let him first make his place in the side. They probably are looking at misbahs appointment back in 2010 at the age of 36. Misbah was super fit though and didnt have to do the hard job of wicketkeeping.

Tbh Sarfaraz is an upgrade over Babar in terms of captaincy.

2 gone (Ramiz and Wasim) - Other 2's positions under threat

Babar khud izzat se Kaptaani chor de

He wont.. and I dont see PCB changing captain, atleast for NZ series..
lets hope PCB changes captain after NZ series, across all formats,,irrespective of the results..even if we win, by chance

Things can get extremely ugly during the first 2-3 days of the Test v NZ if Pakistan collapse or struggle to take wickets in crucial junctures

All will be sacked apart from Babar. To be fair we dont have anyone apart from Babar who can lead all 3 formats.

All will be sacked. Including Babar

The sad part about all of this is, the previous regime didnt do any of it. Ramiz didnt show any accountability by sacking Mohammad Wasim and Saqlain. Nor did the PCB sack Babar.

The old regime had lost its senses totally!

The 3 Hour meeting consisted if drink tea, cutting cake. Rameez didnt hold any one accountable if he did he would have sacked someone. The fact that Saqi and Babar are so delusional that they think retaining Babar as captaincy until july is going to help team moral pretty much sums up the pathetic mindset and nature of the team.

Im glad Rameez and Wasim have gone, the sooner Saqi and Babar (Captaincy) are gone to the better.

Interesting to hear the New In Charge of PCB SEthi speaking on tv about Coaches...rough translation of what he said...

We need Foreign Coach, "Our Culture is such that we are bound to have friendship and favoritism"

So according to above corruption is part of our culture lol great to know ... reason why we will never achieve what we are trying to achieve.

I hate NSethi, but this non cricketing person is winning me over in pcb role... and thank God bye bye QUDRAT KA NIZAAM...
