Who are your current favourite Islamic scholars/speakers?

I listen to these folks:

Aseem Al-Hakeem
Yasir Qadhi
Nouman Ali Khan.

I enjoy listening to Engineer Muhammad Ali Mirza these days. He is quite captivating.

Nostalgic linked a video of his a few days ago and I liked his style

I don’t agree with all of his positions, but there’s so much to like: challenging the religious establishment and laying bare their hypocrisy and corruption and excesses, while promoting sectarian harmony.

Having been raised in a Sunni household, I’ve gained quite an insight into, and appreciation of, the Shia point of view courtesy his lectures. That led me to discover a Shia scholar, Jawad Naqvi: very soft spoken and eloquent.

In all honesty, Javed Ahmed Ghamdi is the only Islamic scholar who has over come close to gaining my respect.

I was particularly disappointed with his ignorant take on evolution where he regurgitated the same old misinformed notion that Darwin stated that “insaan bandar ki aulaad hai”. You would expect a relatively well-read scholar like him to have a decent understanding of the concept of evolution.

A couple of other tropes he's been guilty of is still believing that the Bermuda triangle has gobbled up countless hundreds of airplanes, and repeatedly mentioning that Jacques Kallis is transgender when discussing transgender rights. By and large though, these flaws pale in comparison to what he has managed to achieve. When the entrenched "scholars" feel so threatened by someone, he must be doing something right.

My favourite scholars I listen to are.
1) Shaykh Yasir Qadhi
2) Shaykh Hamza Yusaf
3) Shaykh Riyadh al Haq
4) Shaykh Hussain Kemani

For me, Ahmadi scholars count.

Respected Mirza Tahir Ahmed was an elite speaker. Amazing gift of speech!

Definitely prefer Javed Ahmed Ghamdi

Most scholars these days are just conspiracy theorists waiting for dajjal.

Shaykh Husain Sattar
Mufti Tariq Masood
Sheikh Imran Husain
Mufti Husain Kamani
Maulana Tariq Jameel
Shaykh Kamaluddin

Growing up it was sheikh yasin and sheikh feiz when I went through my puritan literal stage

Nowadays I listen to tik tok lectures as anything over ten minutes I find hard to take in

The Australian scholars I like are mohammed hoblos and abu bakr zoud, both powerful speakers. The former in particular is savage to the Lebanese Muslim gangsters

Mufti Tariq Masood I follow on whatsap and maulana tariq jamil is a brilliant speaker
I also love listening to saqib raza mustafai who is probably the most inspirational and humble speaker on my list

Sheikh zahir mahmood in the UK is awesome, as is abu eesa niamatullah. Hamza tzortis and abdullah andaluci are really good speakers in terms of religion and battling atheism. In terms of Cambridge Islam sheikh akram nadwi and tariq ramadan are very historically scholarly

The US is full of top notch scholars including
Yasir qadhi
Omar sulaiman
Yasmin mogahed
Suhaib webb
Hamza yusuf
Zaid shakir

Yasir Qadhi is pretty good, so is Omar Sulaiman. MTJ is simply nauseous but my mother seems to like his lectures and the way he articulates things.

Used to like Nouman Ali Khan up until he got caught in his little scandal exploiting woman. An actual wolf in sheep clothing.

Mufti abu Layth is also unconventional but it's nice to hear some of his views on some matters.

What's your take on evolution and is it compatible with Islam?

Engineer Ali Mirza. He is a beacon of hope for this country! He is very unlike our traditional mullahs!

Also, Ghamdi is a gem too!

What do you think of mr yasir qadahi and noman Ali

Havnt heard much of mr. yasir qadhi but noman ali just seems like a showpiece trying to cash in, his debates with quranists (people who reject hadith) were pretty weak and embarrassing.

Mufti Taqi Usmani
Mufti Tariq Masood
Shaykh Zahir Mahmood
Shaykh Ahmed Ali
Mufti Menk

He is "preachy" he does a good job at it but I don't think one should expect him to be a Sharia scholar or something that's not his expertise on the other hand Ghamdi is into laws or Sharia mostly he is not a "preacher"

I think one is a batsman while other is a bowler

Too many celebs pandering to a certain pov and populism with host peers.

There's broad range of expertise with certain facets but necessarily'everything'. Hamza Yusuf suppports Trump:/.

I like Tzortzis on theology and for philosophy, Hakim Murad. For everything else, there's Ghazali. Not to mention the 'sunni' scholar's promoting covert ahmadi ideology and fornication and Muslim women being encouraged to perform it. Using the old ' guyy's do it.

I thought Muslims are meant to hide faults and rectify; not create a window for exploitation

Sh.Hamza Yusuf
Sh.Hakeem Murad
Peer Saqib Shami
Saqib Raza Mustafai sahib
Peer Ajmal Qadri
Ghulam Bahir Naqshbandi sahib
Tahir ul Qadri

Don't scribe to the Jurisprudence Mufti Menk is from but he is surprisingly moderate and tolerant for the most part in his views which I respect, Shaykh Muhammad Al-Yaqoubi once said Salafis and Sufis have been able to co-exist and live peacefully in Syria however it is vital to tackle problems surrounding extremist ideologies and recognise they exist. Nouman Ali again don't scribe to the movement his views are based on or its influence in Pakistan during the Zia ul Haq era but there are many who have suggested his content is good; however, at the very least you ought to practice what you preach and there are clerics who have ruled against him with regards to scandals of him exploiting his followers, a filthy filthy man.

Shaykh Muhammad Al-Yaqoubi
Timothy Winter aka Shaykh Abdal Hakim Murad
Peer Syed Ghulam Naseeruddin Naseer Gilani - The great scholar, poet and custodian of Golra Sharif

Omar Suleiman
Yasir Qadhi
Abdel Rehman Murphy
Usama Canon
Suheyb Webb
Nouman Ali Khan (Pre-Scandal)
Mufti Menk
Mohammad Hijab

I quite like Omar Suleiman as well. Started listening to him recently

Javed Ghamidi is good. Engineer Mirza uses clickbait thumbnail titles to lure audience on youtube.:sarf2

Listening to religious scholars is not a subtitute for learning the religion on ones own accord. They could act as a motivational factor and also some guidance on some matters but that's just one aspect of learning.

It's really fascinating how people actually bend narratives and provide information that only suits their agenda or school of thought on these channels. A same Hadith will be quoted by people of different sects, all with different connotations and meaning pandering their own agenda.

Omar Suleiman is a gem to listen to. Soothing and very mild and rarely panders into chaos or complex issues.

For theology and debates, speakers corner has some good people. For theology, Hamza Andreas Tzortzis is actually good. Keeps it simple and to the point.

Maulana Ishaq is also someone who has a good ability to see the bigger picture. Dr. Israr Ahmed also had a good main message of unity for muslims and standing up to oppression. Dr. Zakir Naik is good at what he does as well.

The variance in school of thoughts will mean that many of us won't like people from other school of thoughts. The Ahl-e-hadith/Wahabis etc. will find it hard to listen to someone who is Barelvi or Deobandi within the Sunni sect, while Shias will totally ignore the existence of Sunni ulemas.

Some reactionary opportunists will try to mislead people as has been done in the past and will continue to happen in the future. The Sunni Shia reactionary split has lead to a lot of that over the years and common examples include the speakers at Namoos-e-Sahaba Razi Allah Taalah anhoma conferences and the Shia zaakirs. The new wave of which Engineer sb. is a classic case amongst them is just an extension to that. People with little knowledge or at the beginning of their religious awakening would really fancy him but delve deep and there's nothing much but constant goalpost shifting and contrarian views for the sake of youtube views. Yes, he is a good wakeup call to the existing religious hierarchy but fact check him and you'll find out about the intellectual dishonesties/clever manipulations that are the usual part of his discourse.

I just hope that no matter who we listen to, we are all eventually guided to the right path of Allah Subhana ho wa taala and that we may end up meeting in Jannatul Firdaus with eachother without any grudges and pain. Ameen.

Qari Sohaib Ahmed Meer also deserves a mention. He is incredibly soft-spoken and his voice is very soothing. He doesn’t project the self-righteous and arrogant image that a lot of these scholars do.

Not to mention his recitation of the Quran is simply beautiful.

What's your take on evolution and is it compatible with Islam?

Evolution is a fact and the reason why so Kant religious people deny it is because they do not understand it.

I believe that evolution is compatible with religion if you believe that Allah Almighty (SWT) set the process of evolution in place.

Engineer Ali Mirza and Javed Ghamdi are pretty good but both oh them do get carried away from time to time.

Smh on Nouman Ali listeners after infedility scam...
