T20:-

Chahal was most consistent and reliable performer for india in T20s.His best performance came in series decider against England where he took 6 wickets which helped india win series against england.

Best T20 player for india - Y Chahal
ODI:-

This was slightly difficult. There were many competition in Odis but one player surprisingly stood out and proved many of his doubters wrong.IMO Hardik pandya was india's odi player of the year.He was not only india's best batsmen but also india's best bowler in CT final. He also did well in other matches of CT.

Pandya best series performance came against Australia where he won couple of matches singlehandedly.Despite his success this year,He still has a lot to prove and he might not even be part of 2019WC.Bumrah and Rohit Sharma were also great this year.

Best ODI player for india:- H Pandya
TEST:-

This was most difficult to decide.IMO there were only 2 player competing for this spot.Due to his lack of failure,I've given slight edge to Pujara. He also created history by batting on all 5 days of Kolkata Test.

Without pujara, india would have lost 2nd and 3rd test against Australia.(and basically BG trophy)Apart from those 2 test,he also did well on other matches. In first test he got dismissed by almost unplayable delivery from starc but in 2nd inning of that test he scored most runs for india(3rd day of pune rank turner). In series decider,he again did well by scoring crucial 50 in 1st inning which helped india to take lead of 32 runs.In 2nd inning he was unfortunately run out for 0 while chasing only 106.

Apart from 1 match against SL(where he batted only Once as india won that match by an innings),He performed in every single match this year.

Jadeja was also great and was not only india's best spinner/bowler but also best allrounder.

Best Test player for india - C Pujara

T20's - Kohli
ODI's - Rohit/Dhawan/Kohli. Its a close call. Talking purely in terms of impact.
Tests - Ashwin. Granted it was home season and some away tours against WI and SL, but the man has dominated bowling and Tests is all about taking 20 wickets. Kohli needs a mention too for his double centuries. Another mention should be to Pujara. Very consistent.

Pretty Much agree with the OP.

But I will rank my top 3 players in each format
T20Is
1. Chahal
2. Kohli
3. Kuldeep Yadav/Bumrah

ODIs
1. Pandya
2. Kohli
3. Bumrah

Tests
1. Pujara
2. Jadeja
3. Kohli

Tests - Pujara
Odis - Rohit (cause he missed half year due to injury still managed 1200+ runs in odis)
T20 - Chahal, Bumrah

In All formats - Kohli.

I have always maintained this, if Hardik Pandya develops into a decent AR, like the promise he showed in the Aus series with the bat and the ball, he will be India's game changer in the shorter formats.

With the bat, I think he is on course. He had a few failures after the Aus series, but that was like 4 innings, so not much to judge him with.

With the ball, all he needs to do is deliver 10 decent overs (not more than 6RPO at an average) and take a 1-2 wickets, that will be sufficient. He is already picking those wickets, just needs to learn a few more tricks and reuse his garbage deliveries, which he bowls, 1-2 every over. Not too far from what India need in both disciplines.

how was Ashwin better than Jadeja in 2017?

Do you think pandya will play in 2019WC?

T20 - Chahal

ODI - Kohli

Test - Pujara

Find of the year - If you had asked me before September. I'd have said, without a doubt Hardik. But what a revelation the spin twins Chahal and Kuldeep have been in ODIs. A very massive call too from Kohli to drop Ashwin and Jadeja.

If he improves over the next 12 months, he definitely should and he would become our biggest asset.

Between 2016 Feb, when he was first chosen for the Indian team and June 2017, there was significant improvement in both his batting and bowling. He played a few responsible knocks and added more variety in his bowling between that period. Since CT, I haven't seen a significant improvement in him. Even though his best series was against Aus, I dont think he learned anything new other than showcasing what he had. His lack of improvement could be because we were only playing in the sub continent after the CT.

In the next 1 year, he will get multiple opportunities to play in foreign conditions and to learn and develop. If he can use this opportunity, and learn like he did between 2016 Feb and June this year, he will be one of our best players.

Having said that, I believe that unless he loses form really badly, we will play him in the 2019 WC anyways. The only question is the current version or an even superior version will play?
