One is the top scorer of this season’s QEA trophy, whilst the other has the highest F.C. average for Pakistan and has piled up the runs over the years. Fawad also has a large fanbase calling for his selection in the test team.

Which one would you like to see in England next year?

Neither. There are many better options such as haris sohail, usman salahuddin and Hussain talat although fawad does deserve a chance over saad ali.

Both...I see a major revamp coming up under Sarfaraz in our test side..We might even see Asad and Masood gone for good.

Bro those 2 are already in the squad. Don’t know why you are suggesting Talat in tests either.

I’m talking about a callup to the team. On merit it would be Saad but others would want Fawad to be given a chance.

Both.

If I had to choose one, it'd be Fawad due to his superior resilience and grinding out qualities (alongside super fitness) that has made him the stalwart of domestic cricket.

ASAD should stay, while Shan Masood & Babar Azam should be replaced.

Replace Shan Masoor with Khuram Manzoor
Replace Babar Azam with Fawad Alam

Talking about TESTS only (not in ODIs).

For Tests, I will go for FAWAD ALAM
For ODIs, I will go for SAAD ALI

For T20s, I will go for Umar Akmal :-D

Both should be in the squad.

I'd like them to play an order of:

1. Azhar Ali
2. Imam Ul Haq
3. Babar
4. Asad Shafiq
5. Haris Sohail
6. Usman Salahuddin
7. Sarfraz

One of either Saad Ali or Fawad Alam could come in for Babar Azam, though not sure if we're dropping Babar prematurely, a big score could be round the corner, and we know he has the talent for it. If I had to opt for someone between Saad and Fawad, it would be Fawad, because we lack a bit of experience in that middle order atm.

Saad Ali outside Asia for sure.

Tough between Fawad and Saad on spin friendly wickets as i haven't seen enough of Saad against spin while Fawad is pretty good against spin in tests.

This isn't even a question. Saad Ali.

highest FC average cannot be ignored though I have a feeling that Saad Ali has a higher ceiling than Fawad Alam.

Azhar Ali, Fawad Alam, Imam Ul Haq, Harris Sohail, Babar Azam, Asad Shafiq(Last Chance)

Why Asad Shafiq last chance ?

He scored century recently when all the other "talented" players went to dressing room.

He scored fighting century against Australia in Australia...

Sami & Babar hasn't scored even a single century in their 25 & 22 test innings... Still they are part of your batting order. Amazing

Well Done (Y)

Both. Remove low averaging Babar and Shan first. Keep both Fawad and Saad in the squad even if they don't play at all for the next decade.

My order will be

Azhar, Shahzad, Fawad, Saad, Asad, Haris, Sarfraz.........

Shehzad.... seriously haha lmao
Where will your darling Manzoor go then...
There shud be no place for a failure like Shehzad in national team...
In other threads you are whining about how 13 & 11 tests are not enough for people to decide that Sami and Babar are failures...
Then how the hell a guy deserves a place in squad when he has been a consistent failure since last 8 damn years...
Maybe some ppl might agree with Manzoor thing but Shehzad WTH

Yes 13 Tests are enough chance to be provided to any batsman. infact more than enough. Had Sami Aslam scored 1 or 2 centuries, I would be advocating for his place in the team.

About Babar, again I would say BRILLIANT ODI PLAYER but didn't deliver in his 22 Test innings, so 22 innings are fair enough chance to provide opportunity to any new talent / youngster. He should focus on ODI as he is the mainstay in ODI team.

Now coming to Shehzad, well he has better records in Tests, as compared to Sami Aslam & Shan Masood ... Played 13 Tests, 25 innings, scored 982 runs, 3 centuries, average 40.91, strike rate 50.98....

Now compare him with almost similar stats with Sami Aslam, Shan Masood & Babar Azam..

Oh dear!
Sami has played 7 tests in England, Australia and New Zealand... How many has Shehzad played outside Asia and West Indies.
I am not in favour of Babar - the Test batsman but he has also played 5 Tests in Aus and NZ...
Shehzad is a mental midget who is simply useless. Sami Aslam can become a Star and he showed a glimpse of it during England tour and He is only 21 and i would invest in him than 28 year old youngesstaaar like Shehzad.
Boy he has been in the team for last 8 years.. WTH has he done to warrant a place in team.
Stats always dont tell the whole story. Let Shehzad play in Australia(may that never happen) and he wont cross 20 even of he plays all year there.

I agree. Its time to move on from Shehzad.Sami Aslam is the best prospect Pakistan has now to invest on.

Sami is not on my list. Babar will eventually start performing, his performance in other formats is too good to be ignored. Asad Shafiq is a very frustrating player, because he failed so comprehensively in other formats like Odi and t20. He only ever performed in Test cricket. He has played many good innings but he lacks consistency. Those 2 innings that you mentioned were great but what did he do between, there were 7 tests played between those two and he didn't do any thing of note in them. plus those 2 centuries failed to change the result. This is another problem with Asad that he crumbles under pressure. He gets close but then pressure gets to him, Unlike YK who was a finisher. In Asad's own words his inconsistency is due to lack test matches. And that he needs to play Odi to stay in touch. Asad Shafiq was given many chances in Odi but he fails far more than he performs. With Pakistan playing less and less Tests, 'Test only batsman' like Asad Shafiq will always remain inconsistent. If Asad can perform regularly there should be no issue. But after 58 test matches Asad should be a rock solid batsman, not Gamble that pans out once after 6 or 7 test matches.

Now to be fair, I will expect you to be fair :

See you are asking for the consistency of Asad Shafiq in-between those 7 test matches, but can I ask what Sami Aslam has done in his 13 Test matches, yet scored not a single century. What Babar did in his 11 test matches, yet not a single century.

Regarding Asad Shafiq !! Well he bats at lower numbers, No.6, he comes when the bulk of the batting fails in pathetic style, you should know that playing against Australia in Australia is something that needs a highest quality of cricket, its not something playing the lowest ranking teams like Srilanka in UAE.

His both innings (in which he made centuries) came when the team was about to loose whether, no other player in the current test team dared to make century in such time when the team was about to give, making century against Australia in Australia and thats too in a very crises situation, is something not too many visiting players do in Australia. It describes Asad's fighting spirit. Asad's spirit of resistance and his ability to stand til last.

Now tell me we what your dearest players did after playing too many test innings, that is too as an opener ??? .... (Sami Aslam). His average is 31 and strike rate is 39.. number of centuries NIL .... Yet WOW What a talent !! OMG :-P

LoL You Keep Bringing up Sami Aslam. He is not even on my list. Which Means I want him dropped. We have a better opener in Imam ul Haq. Both Sami Aslam & And Shaan Masood are not good enough. You are wasting time arguing against Sami Aslam. Azhar Ali and Imam ul haq will make much better openers. If Asad had a fighting spirit we would have won those matches. A good team like Australia, England India South africa would have dropped Asad Long time ago for his unreliability to Be FAIR.

Sami Aslam Maybe he is your dearest player, LoL not mine

Both...I see a major revamp coming up under Sarfaraz in our test side..We might even see Asad and Masood gone for good.

Lol. Sarfraz wasn't able to drop Asad from Quetta Gladiators in a format that doesn't suit him a bit, here we are talking about Tests. Sarfraz seemingly has a soft spot for him. Dont see Asad leaving the Test team any time soon.

Saad Ali dropped from Test squad without getting a chance while Mr.Fitness with no substance Rizwan picked.

Struggling Fakhar should have made way for in form Sami Aslsm who performed in England vs top English Test side.

Saad Ali should have been retained in Test squad.

Backup keeper should have been Adnan Akmal who has averaged 45+ with the bat in last 5 Fc seasons with 6 plus FC hundreds and the guy who averaged 18 before Test debut now averages 28 and has scored most FC runs as keeper in last 5 seasons besides his brother Kamran but keeping wise he is ahead of Kamran and Rizwan.
