For me, it will be Rohit Sharma or Pat Cummins maybe. what do you think?
Please vote and comment as well.

Kane Williamson will need to play a few games before we can decide.

So far i can't think of any team winning a match because of captaincy. But i can say Bavuma wilted under pressure lol His fielding was pathetic. Also field set, bowling rotation everything was awful.

Guys williamson didn't play. It was Latham. I totally forgot. How they managed with just 3 bowlers. Yes that is a good call. He was spot on. He got away with that bowling attack. Next one is Shakib Al hasan who also brought himself on at the right time.

NZ captaincy is always good in world cups. That is one of the reason they are very consistent. Remember 1992 world cup. Deepak patel opening, Great batch attacking. They always have plans.

Pre-tournament choice will be KW. However, the winning team’s captain may come out as the best. As no captain seems strong enough in this World Cup who can carry the team to a win solely on the basis of their Leadership

Pat Cummins and Kane Williamson both have the excellent game awareness as a captain.

It's defo kane Williamson at this point. Also the whole latham was captaining. Latham captains exactly how Williamson captains, its clear latham adopted Williamson approach.

Babar's team may reach SF but he will some how mess it up after that. Which is a shame because he has really good resources/PCB support/Team Support/Financial clout which none of the previous Pakistan captains had.
The decision making is not bold.. He is a safety first captain. You cannot win tournaments without taking risks.

England/Morgan took a lot of risks in 2019 and played to their strengths.. e.g. playing India on really short boundaries. That could have backfired as India also had really good hitters.. but they backed there strengths.

Babar does not seem to have the IT factor as a captain. .which may change if he is willing to take more risks.. eg.
1. Open with Harris and Imam.
2. Drop Shadab or Nawaz... and bring Usama Mir..
3. Have Ifti bat at 4. He is good enough to play the middle overs, settle in and then go for kill at the end.

But he goes with a set template.. and only changes at the end, rather then being proactive. Hopefully he changes up a bit in this WC.

To be honest, Bobby B was at his best against Holland. He didn’t have much to defend.

When things going good for his team, he looks a fine captain but when the other team is on top, he looks flat and short of ideas.

2-0 for him nevertheless

The nation should back the kaptaan at this point

Bavuma and Rohit are both doing an excellent job leading their teams in this world cup.

kane hands down
proactive, always looking to make things happen
will stick with aggressive fields even when the opposition is going at him

Kane is such a defensive and overrated captain. Plus he hasnt even played this WC LOL !. NZ have a much better shot with Tom Latham than Kane.
For this WC - it's just too early to say. Only games for each team. Maybe when they play 4 or 5 games you have a better idea.

Could just be me but I have not seen him be defensive when he has captained

Not enough has been said about this but TL is proving to be a ruthlessly efficient and tactically sound captain.

Batting teams are absolutely struggling against the middle overs choke applied by NZ. This guy is getting a lot more out of his attack than he should and absolutely shutting down scoring areas of batters and never lets the game drift too far.

The only captain and side that comes close to what Latham and NZ are doing is probably Scott Edwards and Netherlands who have been very impressive in employing their limited resources.

These 2 have been a class apart and there seems to be a massive gap between them and others in terms of captaincy.

Thoughts?

NZ are doing well but barring England in first game, they have mostly faced minnows.

The challenge will start from now as they face India, Australia, South Africa and Pakistan. That's 4 major teams out of 5(excluding NZ).

Babar Azam

People don’t realise that going on with the business with a smile despite all this pressure is such a difficult and unbelievable job to do. He’s 2-2 mostly because his team good and not extra ordinarily great. He’s doing his best and keeping the team united in all this adversity.

I think, Tom Latham has proved himself as most aggressive and strategic captian in this World Cup

Rohit Sharma seems to be in control of everything when team India is playing.

Bavuma was good at start of Pakistan innings but seems to have lost the plot a bit.

Markram has been better then Bavuma whenever he had a chance to be a captain.

Sharma reluctantly reviews the recent two wickets. Either there's great collective management or it appears he's being undermined. Especially Kohli is very animated instead of the captain

Certainly not Shakib al Hasan, especially after the way he handled the dismissal of Angelo Mathews today. He could've withdrawn his appeal but he persisted with his appeal and Mathews had to depart without facing a ball.

Seems like captaincy can only take you so far. Team also has to be good. NZ captaincy also got impacted in the face of onslaught from one batsman. Now lost 4 games in a row.

Cummins today showed his leadership skills very well. He looked very calm during this partnership with Maxwell and stayed at the wicket for the team and helped Maxwell in great manner to take his team over the line.

Well with the stratigical changes i would rate Rohit on top. This guys is street smart cricketer!

He actually knows when and how he should execute any certain change.

He is utilizing his bowlers in a way that nobody is getting exhausted and giving their 100%

He has a decent defensive technique. Most recently when Australia was down and out he pulled off a miracle batting with Lyon. At that time he played the aggressor role. A lower order with a lot of common sense. Not like Rabada or some other lower order who resorts to blind slogging.

The way Cummins supported Maxwell was way beyond something I have ever seen before in ODIs. Maxwell was in total control so Cummins just negated the good deliveries and ate out the overs that were creating problems on that pitch but the way Maxwell finished it, yep, the credit goes to Cummins 100% as well.

Very poor captaincy from Rohit, he should have given the ball to Shami a bit earlier when the Daryl Micthell-Kane partnership was going well.
Shami got a ball in the 33rd over after his 4-over power play spell.

The pressure of the knock outs is something else

I was frustrated with the strategy of continuously bowling wide offside deliveries with Siraj, especially when the boundary is only 50 meters long, and the batsmen kept thrashing. Luckily, Kuldeep and Bumrah bowled back-to-back tight overs.

Thanks god we won.

The way Rohit Sharma has led from the front in almost all the matches, he is probably the best captain in this World Cup along with Scott Edwards who also did great with his limited resources.

It's no coincidence that the best 2 captains teams are in Sunday's final.

Both have inspired their teams and led from the front.

Rohit Sharma for sure, both by leading from the front and showing his team to play fearless - something that he did not do at the last WT20 in Australia. Also he doesn't panic in the field and continues with his bowling plans, stays involved, and then switches his bowling up in a way that works. Of course it helps that he has bowlers who are actually paying his faith in them by taking wickets at every stage of the game.
