India lost 1-4

Pakistan are 0-1 down into 3rd test

India. Plenty of venom in their bowling, had England in trouble a lot but couldn't get Sam Curran out.

Also lost 4 of the tosses.

Both played poorly. I wouldn’t say one team played better.

And India lost to one man - Sam Curran!

Also, didn’t India lose all tosses and bat last in all barring one game? Was a bit lucky but ultimately the score line is what’s important.

Some key statistics from India-England series:-

No. of tests : 5

Highest scorer : Kohli with 593 runs

England's highest scorer across 5 completed tests was Jos Butler with 349 runs

India, they were in winning positions for most of the matches and even won one match at the end. Their bowlers bowled with plenty of pace, fire and gas in all their spells

India lost 3 tests on Day 5 while chasing.

1st test: India fell short by 30 runs
4th test : India fell short by 61 runs
5th test : India fell short by 118 runs

India received a phainty in 2nd test

India won comprehensively in 3rd test

Glad Kohli learnt a few lessons from his first series in England.

Was a one man show for India in their tours to South Africa and England where Virat Kohli outclassed his own team.mates and the opponent batsmen.

Had other batsmen showed up, India would have won 2-1 in South Africa and the end score in England would have looked quite different.

India lost two tests in England falling short by 30 and 60 runs while chasing small scores. Complete chokes from batsmen.

Though these comparisons are meaningless but anyone that has watched us play in Eng 2018 would know we were very competitive. I have no doubt that if the toss luck was with us, we would have won more than just 1 test. Remember Kohli lost all 5 tosses, yet managed to win a game. Also, the Eng team back then was much stronger than what Pakistan is facing.

Btw, OP looks like having a field day today :srini:

Azhar Ali, Shafiq, Rizwan have opportunities to play big knocks today and bring Pakistan back in the game.

Highly unlikely but impossible is nothing.

Why don’t we talk about who played better in 2018 period? India or Pakistan in 2018? Same English team same time period, same logistics. Why are we comparing 2020 and 2018, when both teams played in 2018?

India lost 4-1 how did they play better. No excuses. India lost fair and square.Whenever India tour next they will lose even more heavily.India is just not good enough in SENA countries

Yeah let’s do bhangra over how we are doing better or did better in 2018 than India.

That will really ease our pain and reduce our humiliation.

India has lost a single test in sena where we won the toss, under kohli

India and Pakistan both toured in 2018
Results
India 4-1
Pakistan 1-1
No point comparing now as Pak has a lot ageing players. Will see how ind play next time around with a ageing team

Post in a civilized manner or not at all.

Pakistan - they were robbed a Test win by rain; one bad session cost the first Test and lost heart by 3rd Test as the chance of winning the series was over.

It's always easy to play 5 Test series than three or two Test series and that really cost PAK here. Had it been a 5 Test series like IND, I am sure this series would have ended 2-2, with PAK robbed in the 2nd Test.

Also, PAK always over thinks when they win toss, therefore it's a disadvantage for PAK to win toss - Kohli lost 5 Tosses at stress in ENG and won one Test because it hardly matters for them if they win toss or not, in any case Indians are tundlers. But, for PAK's case losing toss is a blessing - it was misfortune for PAK that Azhar won first two toss, otherwise this series would have been upside down.

Why to compare with India, we should compare with 2016 & 2018 Pakistan's performance.

If Pakistan can eke out a draw somehow in this game then it would be a decent tour.......except the meltdown in the 2nd inngs with bat & in final session of 1st test.

Both were mediocre performances, we should be ashamed if we want to feel happy knowing that our 1-4 performance in England was better than this. There is no place for moral victories.

Such a menial pointless comparison. Both teams got smashed. Embarrassing that we are debating who got smashed worse to make ourselves feel better.

More than the toss, his team selections in England and SA cost us both series..
