The problem is not captaincy, it is with the right selection at right time. Saud should have already played at least 20 test by now, also Kamran at least 10 tests.

I believe Saud could be a good captain but can't risk his career at this point of time. Won't be surprised if he is dropped from the team if he fails to deliver as captain (irrespective of his batting).

Correct... Get in the right chief selector , like what Afridi did just for one series..

the LOI middle order looked much better with proper batters ever since 2019 WC.. There are big holes like this in selections across formats which can be easily fixed..

Babar can stay as test captain for this year as they hardly play any test cricket..

Shadab can be made LOI captain.. but before that would like to see how Babar does under a better coach and proper selections

I think red-ball cricket is actually Babar's weaker suit as skipper but the problem seems to be that there is no ready-made replacement for him.

White-ball skipper replacements there seems to be a few though.

You are correct in that red ball cricket requires more captaincy and tactics Vs the slapdash of white ball cricket.

I think, if you provide Bobby with a better quality attack (not just his mates), better pitches and a strong coaching staff that actually challenges him and develops his tactics, you could see a better Babar. That really is how you address the test captaincy.

Replacing him with somebody else (Shan’s a lame duck, Rizzy is out of the team and Saud is a more defensive version of Babar) only papers over the cracks of the underlying problem: A weak bowling attack, poor pitches and an ineffective support staff.

I think Shaan Masood and Muhammad Rizwan are the better options for Test Captaincy.
