Left-handed cricketers in all departments rank amongst the greatest of all cricketers.Arguably the best pace bowler,all-rounder and 2nd best batsmen ever were left-handers.Here I am trying to only asess them on basis of entertainment value.I am rating left-handers on their role as 'gladiators' in the glorious game.In order of merit I am ranking them in terms of the joy they gave to the game.

1.Garfield Sobers

God's gift to the game who took artistry in every department to supreme heights .Had more variety than any bowler bowling pace, spin and chinaman and was close to the perfect batsmen.

2.Brian Lara
Talent of sublime regions who at his best could be more mercurial than Bradman and produce strokes more surreal than even Viv Richards.Took bating creative genius to it's deepest depth reminding you of a musical composer.

3.Wasim Akram
The equivalent of a magician to fast bowling who gave the art of fast bowling anew dimension.Equivalent of a Michelangelo to cricket.

4.Adam Gilchrist
A left-handed equivalent of Viv Richards who could pulverise bowling attacks like a bomber destroying an airbase.Intimidated opposition more than many left-hander carrying the bat like an executioner carrying an axe. Most destructive of all.

5.Sannath Jayasuriya
Gave opening batting in one day cricket a new dimension in 1996 innovating the art of counter-attack from the first delivery itself.Often from the 1st over Sanath reminded you of a combing operation.Still posessed a subtle artistic touch.

I apologize to viewers here as the likes of Chris Gayle,Graeme Pollock,Saed Anwar,David Gower or Alan Davidson could well have made it and missed out by just a whisker.Still I mantain Gary,Brian,Wasim and Gilly had to comprise it with Sobers undoubtedly supreme.

First 4 is undoubtedly, though probably I'll exchange between 2 & 3. For 5th one, is really tough - Sanath wasn't the best Test players around. In the near miss list probably Sanga, Lloyd & Neil Harvey also comes, may be Vinnu Mankad as well. Gary Gilmor could have been one as well.

I probably'll take Sanga over Sanath for the 5th spot.

Love your use of metaphor as ever Harsh Thakor.

Wasim Raja, Brian Lara, Wasim Akram, Sanath Jayasuriya, Adam Gilchrist. I have very reluctantly left out Saeed Anwar.

Amazing how WI batsmen have averages similar to other great players but with much better strike rates.

Should be truly proud of their batting cannon. They have produced more entertainers than rest of the world combined

Have to throw Gayle in there too. You can call him a mercenary or whatever but there is no doubt that he was a massive influence in this t20 era, and he is the face of t20 Cricket like Inzi is the face of ODIs and Bradman for tests. Tbh he doesn't even have a bad test record and if Sanath is there then Gayle makes it.
