The usual yearly rumours about Hazard have started, though they seem to have more weight this time as he implied he is 'looking for a new challenge'.

They were supposedly interested in Neymar before he went to PSG.

Outside candidate is Salah but he's just signed a new long-term contract at Liverpool.

Will Bale or Asensio play a more prominent role?

An outrageous bid for Mbappe?

Who else?

I think it could be Mbappe. He's young, fast and I can't imagine a player of his quality and age would want to stay in Ligue 1, and there were also rumours he didn't get on with Neymar, also there's the issue of Financial Fair play so I can't see him staying at PSG/Monaco (he was on loan from Monaco at PSG)

None can replace Ronaldo. He was prolific in 9 years for RM becoming the leading goal scorer for RM in their history.

Would be very difficult to fill that gap. I think realistically only Mbappe and Hazard can come close to filling the gap.

Neymar.

Mbappe will definitely play for Madrid one day but not next season.

Mbappe will probably stay at PSG next season.Even though I support Madrid and want him in the squad,I doubt PSG will sell him.

I don’t see Perez buying Neymar for >250 million euros. He’ll be too expensive.

Hazard and Courtois are probably on the way to Madrid.

I think Madrid will also go for a striker, maybe Icardi.Lewandowski is nearly 30 so I don’t see him being bought.

Bale,Icardi,Asensio,Benzema and Hazard could be the attacking options for RM next season, with Bale being the central focus like Ronaldo was.But the hole left by Ronaldo will never be filled. No one will be able to replicate his 50+ goals a season.

Arnt PSG in financial fairplay problems? they have to sell, doubt anyone will buy neymar for 200m so they wont take a loss, they will however take any offer for mbappe should it be in the range of 200m and take them out of financial fairplays sights.

They dont need to replace Ronaldo. Isco will be the new glamour boy at Real.

Neymar could move in the next season too.

I can see them signing Mbappe and Courtois.

They most likely will not though, and invest in Isco and Asensio to fill that role. Multiple players will be needed to replace Ronaldo's impact. Buying a Hazard, Neymar or Mbappe is not enough.

Mbappe and Neymar aren't going to Real, PSG have deep pockets thanks to Qatari Oil money.

I think Gareth Bale will take over Ronaldo's role of leading Reals attack.

Surely no one can replace THAT kinda quality atm.

Hazard. He is hinting he wants to leave Chelsea for Real. We have seen many times if Real or Barca want you they always get you.

Gareth Bale scored his 100th Real Madrid goal as they beat Atletico in the Madrid derby to overtake their rivals into second place.

Casemiro put Real ahead with a volley but Antoine Griezmann equalised after scoring a one-on-one.

Sergio Ramos restored the visitors' lead with a penalty and Bale converted from Luka Modric's pass to ensure the win.

Atletico ended with 10 men after Thomas Partey was shown a second yellow.

Real revival continues
In-form Real Madrid have now won six of their past seven games, having drawn 1-1 with Barcelona in the Copa del Rey semi-final first leg on Wednesday and this deserved derby win moves them to within five points of La Liga leaders Barca.

Santiago Solari's side opened the scoring when Casemiro was left unmarked and he sent an acrobatic volley flying past Jan Oblak as Atletico failed to clear a corner.

Atletico levelled as Griezmann chased onto an Angel Correa through-ball to slot under Thibaut Courtois, who had toy rats thrown at him by Atletico fans. The Belgian spent three seasons on loan at Atleti from Chelsea earlier in his career.

But Ramos scored his eighth penalty of the season to restore Real's lead after Vinicius Jr had been fouled by Jose Maria Gimenez. Four of his previous seven had been 'Panenkas' - chipped down the middle - but this time he drove the ball into the bottom left-corner.

Vinicius was replaced by Bale in the second half and the Welshman smashed a low shot beyond Oblak for his landmark Real goal in his 217th game.

Atletico fail to turn up in poor performance
Atletico were lacklustre as they conceded two goals in the first half of a home game for the first time since moving to the Wanda Metropolitano in 2017 - and the fastest in La Liga at the venue.

Griezmann's goal, their one good moment of the game, came after a long video assistant referee delay, but he had timed his run perfectly.

Atleti had thought they had levelled for a second time when Alvaro Morata, facing his former club, chipped Courtois brilliantly from outside the box - but the VAR team correctly ruled he was offside. Atletico had been unbeaten in 19 games before his loan arrival from Chelsea, but have lost both matches with him in the team.

A red card seemed inevitable for Diego Simeone's side, who had six players booked and it eventually came when Partey fouled Toni Kroos for his second booking.

Hazard will join in now that's for sure.
Although Solari has been quite different, with Isco suddenly being the forgotten man.

Could come back to replace himself!

'He's magnificent' – Zidane reacts to Ronaldo return rumours at Real Madrid

Zinedine Zidane is reluctant to be drawn on rumours suggesting that Cristiano Ronaldo could be taken back to Real Madrid from Juventus, but the Blancos boss remains a big fan of the “magnificent” Portuguese.

Questions are being asked of how much longer the five-time Ballon d’Or winner will be sticking around in Turin, with criticism aimed in his direction on the back of another disappointing last-16 exit for Juve in the Champions League.

Ronaldo, who is now 36 years of age, is also approaching the final 12 months of his contract in Italy, leading to reports that those at Santiago Bernabeu are being offered a chance to welcome a familiar face back onto their books.

What has been said?

Zidane told reporters when quizzed on the Ronaldo speculation: “You know what he is, what he has done and how much love we have for him.

“He made history here, he's magnificent.

“Now, he is a Juve player and I cannot tell you anything about what they (media) are saying. He's a Juve player and I have to respect these things.”

Ronaldo’s record at Real Madrid

A record-breaking transfer took Ronaldo to Madrid from Manchester United in the summer of 2009.

He hit the ground running in Spain and did not let up over an iconic nine-year stay that delivered a historic haul of 450 goals through 438 appearances.

An all-time great helped the Blancos to two La Liga titles while leading their line, while also claiming four Champions League crowns and three Club World Cup wins.
