In post-1990 period 2 Australian xi's arguably merited the stature of the 'best test xi of all time.'No teams ever in the history of the game were as dominant statistically wining 16 tests consecutively under Steve Waugh and Ricky Ponting. The nucleus of the invincible Aussie teams was formed in the 1980's under guidance of Alan Border and later under Mark Taylor in the 1990's.Could threy have beaten a pre-1980 Aussie xi with Bradman,Chappell brothers ,Lillee and Miller?Personally I very much doubt it.Pre-80's has more hostile bowling, considerably more all-rounders and more talented batsmen. The teams of Bradman in 1948 and Ian Chapell in 1975-77 were also super class.
I think pre-1980 Australains will romp home by about 4 wickets or 55 runs.
