Who will win the Premier League encounter at Old Trafford between Manchester United and Arsenal on 12th May 2024?

Who will win the EPL encounter at Old Trafford between Manchester United and Arsenal?

It’s not easy at Old Trafford, but Hag and United will be under immense pressure, ideal scenario for Arsenal to be playing there at this time

After the humiliation bestowed on United by Palace, you can bet United will go all guns blazing vs Arsenal.

The 12th could be the day when Arsenal are out of the title race.

Chances of Arsenal are lower because Arsenal has only won at Old Trafford in the league once in the last 16 visits

I think we beat them easy. Every metric apart from our record at OT says this.

If we play the game and not the occasion it will be one of our easy games.

A lot of talk about our record at Mould Trafford. But this team has proved it can go to Spurs and win, not lose at Anfield and Man City. So this is another box to check off.

Teams like Palace, Brentford even Burnley have opened them up with ease. As long as its not self inflicted I am confident of a win.

Arsenal will win this with ease

History won't help Man U on this occasion and I'm aware they managed to hold Liverpool however there are two key differences

Firstly Arsenal are a far more clinical side than Liverpool (Liverpool created enough to win that game)

Secondly the Man U defence is even more patched up since then, in that game they had Maguire and Kambwala, whilst now it's an over the hill Evans and over the hill Casemiro

Can never say never but I'm absolutely convinced Arsenal win, I'm as close to 100% of being certain

And I hope that is the outcome too since a win for us on Saturday would then put us 5 clear of Man U with 2 games to go

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has confirmed that they have injury doubts over full-back Takehiro Tomiyasu and in-form winger Bukayo Saka

He said they would be assessed in a training session on Saturday and "we will have to wait and see".

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta on what his side need to do and whether two more wins will be enough to beat Manchester City to the title: "It leaves us in a very clear situation. We have to focus and do what have to do to be in the best possible situation. That's what we are doing. We have to think that it is going to work and we can be better than our opponent and beat them. The final outcome might be something else, but that is not in our control."

Utd have no defence atm , leaking goals like a dripping tap . Anything but a 2-3 goal Arsenal win is unlikely.

However if Utd can score first , they could get a draw as Arsenal under pressure is a different side

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag on Arsenal: "We go in every game to win, not prepare for the next game. Of course it's in the back of my mind [FA Cup final] but I want to put out a team that is eager to win and we choose the best team for Sunday to win that game.

"I don't take big risks with players now to win on Sunday, with the risk they drop out again but it's not such a different situation if you have a cup final.

"Arsenal are one of the best teams or probably the best team, is it City or Arsenal? Very ball secure, very good structures. We know we have to play at our maximum levels to get a result but we are capable of it."

Arsenal will win 1-3. Man Utd are like an old person reminiscing about their youthful days. They really have nothing to play for in the EPL this season. Man City will tank them in the FA Cup final too.

Yep red devils so bad at the moment but they can spoil the party for some other too.

Most of game in recent times where Arsenal have failed to win at OT, its been because Arsenal have gifted cheap and stupid goals away and also been self inflicted. If Arsenal cut out these mistakes they should win. Then it forces City into winning their last 2 games

You are confusing Arsenal with mentally weak Liverpool who wilted under pressure and fumbled a 10 pt lead in the last 15 games of the season.

I only see one winner in this one and that is Arsenal. I am predicting them to win 3-1.

It is the day when Man U and Arsenal will face each other. I am expecting a draw. I guess Arsenal might edge out if there has to be a winner.

Yes Arteta the mental warrior already sees his mental army lifting the trophy . Let’s hope this mental vision he has doesn’t turn into a mental challenge if or when city lift the trophy .

Why are you expecting a draw?

I'm not saying it's impossible but the likely outcome is a comfortable Arsenal win

I’d say the only plus for Utd is it’s old Trafford. Even when they are poor , never easy to win if utd are up for it . I think they will be highly motivated to make news of ending arsenals challenge.

The problem is their back line & keeper can’t keep a clean sheet . Utd can always score but win is unlikely when you will let in min 2 goals .

Heart says Arsenal but I’m expecting a more organised United performance at home

Doesn't matter how game is won, just 3 points is all that matters and push pressure back on City

Arteta will win more than 1 PL in 10 years. He is going to walk over Klopp’s legacy in English football. You don’t need to worry about Arteta.

Balbirnie technique perfect to counter inswing

Waits right to the end and brings weight back on to his back foot

Send me the lottery numbers too , it’s been 4 years + he’s a few more trophies behind than your scorecard

Manchester United will be targeting a much-needed victory when they welcome Arsenal to Old Trafford in the Premier League this afternoon.

United crashed to a record-breaking 13th Premier League defeat of the season last time out, losing 4-0 to Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park. As a result, they have now won just two of their last 10 league matches.

The Reds are now eighth in the table and their hopes of qualifying for any European competition for next season via their league position are in doubt. They are currently three points behind both sixth-placed Newcastle United and seventh-placed Chelsea, who both played yesterday.

It means Erik ten Hag's men desperately need to get three points on the board this afternoon. Arsenal, however, are still in contention for the title and know a victory for them will take them back to the top and above Manchester City.

Only one forward for Utd . Ten Haag knows a big loss at home will be the final nail . Just don’t think his midfield & back line can defend all game . Better to go for early attack , score & pressure might get to Arsenal

United have started well here. Raya already flapping on a corner.

Arsenal need to keep hold of ball better and slow pace of game down

The best system for Utd with press too . Arsenal not pressing at all , it’s risky as 20% of the match can be wasted if Utd keep passing at the back. Imo Arsenal need to be aggressive, 2 games to go & Utd are there for the taking

Shocking but Arsenal will have to work VERY VERY hard here
Up until the goal it was a very average start to game. But win is everything today, regardless of performance

Good defending stayed on his feet. Arsenal will need a 2nd goal here, united still threatening

3 times now oddegard has been bullied off ball in possession and its allowed united to create an attacking position.

Sloppy, cut it out

School boy defending the difference in 1st half - clearly doesn't know offside rule 🤣🤭

FB_IMG_1715530874184.jpg

HALF-TIME

Man Utd 0-1 Arsenal

Leandro Trossard's goal is the difference.

At the moment, Arsenal are on course to get the win they need to go back top of the Premier League but Man United will not give up like that

Sloppiness creeping into Arsenal's play again, can't be letting united players have unchallenged shots on goals from outside of the box

Saka stupidly gives ball away and united waste a chance.

In Game management has to improve here from certain players

This is too painful to watch - not watching!
Just to add to the drams here comes rain, thunder and lightning.

One day of summer here in manchester over 🤣

Need to hold on in injury time

Full time 1-0

Job done, awful game to watch but 3 points was a must.

Pressure back over to city

Demonstrated once again that you know nothing about football.

So Man U underperform to hurt City's chances.

Yup, makes sense.
Yup, the team that is 30 points behind Arsenal and have a negative GD has to deliberately underperform to lose to Arsenal at home.

Beautiful.

Well that was excruciatingly painful to watch... but it's another notch in the victory column

You have zero idea of English football rivalry. Man United would never gift Man City an advantage.

You will learn next week when Spurs underperform vs City, to deny Arsenal any chance.

“But but but but Arsenal have never won at Spurs and United in the same season and history this and that”

@Amjid Javed :klopp

You didnt predict a win in both games either you contradictory talking.

He has zero knowledge on anything on English football. He pretends too have faith in team, then when called out he backs out.

There are two possibilities:

1. You are peddling this narrative now to cover up the embarrassment of your failed prediction of Arsenal’s title challenge ending on May 12

Or

2. You have no clue about football and you fail to differentiate between fan sentiment and that of the manager and the players.

I’m sure there are plenty of United fans who would be happy with the defeat today and I’m sure that there will be plenty of Spurs who would be happy to roll over for City, but players and managers play for pride and they are professional.

Once you become a professional, the fan sentiment fades away. Besides, neither Ten Hag nor Ange or locals and neither are the majority of players in the squad.

These foreign managers and players don’t care enough about local rivalries to the point that they will deliberately underperform to not win the match.

You are essentially accusing United and Spurs of match fixing based on fan sentiment and it is absolutely hilarious and if you had the chops to not hide behind anonymity, you can be taken to court for this.

If Spurs lose to City, it will be because City are a much better side. Not because Spurs players and Ange don’t want to win that game. That is a load of BS.

@Technics 1210 - the easiest way to expose some one is call their bluff to see if the "hype" the believe in, is real.

This is why a called someone out mid season on apology stipulation.

Then put them on spot as per below, to see if the were Man enough to back up their claims. As you can see the lack of spine, then the contradictions pretending they backed their team. When a poster gets shown up for lying and lack of integrity they have no leg to stand on 🤣

Match fixing? If Spurs play their reserves then no one would think any differently, apart from Arteta fan boys who believe Spurs will do Arsenal a favour by beating Man City, when top 4 is done.

You are new to Footy - Fulham, Brentford, Chelsea, Spurs, Liverpool etc, will field their B/C teams now with 2 wks to go of the season. As a manager, why risk injury when a win or loss makes no difference at this stage in the league.

Man U did the same today, they were not interested in handing Man City an advantage, and don't care about Europa league, witnessed by their lack of intent from Man U today.

You have a lot to learn. Then again, write to FIFA and be sure to make a complaint next week when City win. Blame Arteta's humiliation on match fixing. 😂😂😂

Zero clue and knowledge as usual.
Says the guy who claimed that:

  • Arteta will be sacked in 2021 because he will never have Arsenal competing for the title
  • Haaland will fail in the PL
  • Arsenal will be fighting for a top 4 in 23/24
  • Arsenal’s title challenge will end on May 12 because United will beat them (pre game prediction)
  • United deliberately underperformed today to not give City advantage (post game analysis.
Not only are you ignorant, you are also confused.

Spurs will play their best available team just like other teams are playing their best available team. It is end of season and it is normal to have injuries at this time due to fatigue etc. no team in the last few weeks has fielding a weakened team because they didn’t want to compete.

You are also unaware of the fact that there is a prize money for each position. Therefore, there is always an incentive for the club to finish one position higher than their current position even if from the fans’ perspective, that higher position does not matter.

Fans don’t care about this prize money. In fact, most of them are not even aware of it and this is the difference between the sentiments and motivations of players and managers and the fans.

A fan wouldn’t care about his team finishing 8th or 9th, but for the club the manager and the players, the difference means more money, higher bonus etc., so there is always something to play for.

No one is fielding their B/C team by choice. Some of the clubs are nursing injuries which has forced their hand. Every club wants to finish on a high and get max points from their remaining games.

I have been watching football for a very, very long time and this is why I can tell that you have no idea what you are talking about and the fact that you call it “footy” also says a lot about you.
Man U did the same today, they were not interested in handing Man City an advantage, and don't care about Europa league, witnessed by their lack of intent from Man U today.
United fielding the best players that were available to them today. They have a lot of injuries right now.

There is nothing to complain about. The FFP cheats are a much better football team than Spurs and if they bring their A game they will overcome Spurs, but you never know in football and Spurs have the resources to put up a fight and the players and the managers will give their 100% on Tuesday even if a section of the fans would be cheering City to deny Arsenal.

United have been pretty poor all season, their performances in big games has been competitive but their ability to self destruct has been reason they have lost these games. Today's poor goal they conceded prime example of that.

Ten haag looks like a man that knows he's getting sacked at end of season. United didn't rush back a few players that maybe cud have played as those players would be looking to be for for FA cup final.

The overall game itself was very poor and lacked quality in final 3rd. Only real quality shown was Arsenal goal from United school boy defending.

Arsenal just had to win the game which they did.

For United things will get worse before they get better as the team needs huge clearout and Ten haag has taken team backwards this season and will rightly be sacked for it

The irony of this statement is hilarious 🤭

So before Spurs game, a poster was called out to prove whether the hype was real. The reason I carefully worded my call out was for 2 reasons

1) to call someone's bluff
2) to expose someone being a liar and hypocrite

Lack of faith was exposed by not taking up my offer

Lying / hypocrisy was exposed when someone decides to call someone out for a prediction, yet they pretty much had no faith in same thing occurring.

Think that sort of thing happens at a lot of clubs, if a clubs not doing well or they see a game as not as important then ducking out is easy. No strong characters in united dressing room currently

Spurs physically and mentally incapable of doing Arsenal a favour

You didn't even believe Arsenal could beat Man U today. Pipe down. 🤣
Arsenal would always start as favorites vs United this season, it doesn’t make it a guarantee that they will win.

If Arsenal could lose at home to West Ham, they can also lose away to United. These things happen in football, but you have to understand football to appreciate that.
But OK, at least you now admit Arteta has benefited from attrition this season. It was only a matter of time.
The only thing that Arteta has benefited from is the fact that he has been blessed with a great footballing brain.

The same great footballing brain that has helped move ahead of Chelsea and United in the last few years in spite of spending less money than them.

Chelsea and United have regressed this season, this is a blatant cold hard fact that you have to accept. Nothing else matters. Attrition has made it much easier for Arteta to fluke a title win.

If Arteta doesn't fluke it, then he and Arsenal will become the first losers of the 23/24 EPL season.

😎

Fake cheer leading continues - zero faith in team, then decides to write "excuses disclaimer"

Then wonders why he's got zero credibility.

No one asked Chelsea and United to regress. Their regression is an outcome of their own incompetence.

They have spent a lot more money than Arsenal in the last few years and they are not going anywhere because they why don’t have a top quality manager like Arteta and they also don’t have a top notch executive like Edu who knows who to buy and who to sell to improve the team.

The blatant, cold, hard fact is that if Chelsea or United had Arteta and Edu, they would be where Arsenal are today and if Arsenal had clowns that have been running Chelsea and United over the last few years, they would be struggling today.

We are thankful that Arsenal is not run by football ignorant folks like you and @Amjid Javed otherwise Arteta and Edu would have been sacked years ago and Arsenal wouldn’t be going toe to toe with City for the title today.

Arsenal owners know football. They knew that they were in a difficult moment but they club was in the right hands and they are seeing the results now.

Finally, you can’t fluke a league title. It is not a cup competition. It is a culmination of being extremely good and consistent throughout the season.

The league, unlike cups, will always separate the wheat from the chaff.

If Arsenal win the league this season, it will be a great achievement considering the fact that Arsenal had the toughest run-in on paper and were 10 points behind Liverpool after 25 games and were also up against a rampant City who haven’t dropped any points since Arsenal at home.

If Arsenal don’t win the league this season and loses out by 2 points after notching up their most wins, most goals scored, no defeats vs the top 6 and a brilliant GD, it is still a great season and they can take a lot from it, improve the team further in the summer and go again next season.

What is beyond and doubt is that Arsenal will win the league sooner or later under Arteta. There is a feeling of inevitability about this Arsenal team just like there was for Klopp’s Liverpool in 2018 and 2019 before everything came together.

Arsenal are in a beautiful moment right now. This is the best period for the club in the last 20 years.

The genuine Arsenal fans can’t wait for the next season already and bitterness and tears of the Arsenal haters and Arsenal fans who don’t believe in Arteta makes this experience a lot more enjoyable.

Old Trafford issues highlighted by heavy rainfall

Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe was given a display of the issues facing the club's Old Trafford stadium following heavy rainfall during Sunday's 1-0 home loss to Arsenal.

The Ineos billionaire was at the game alongside members of a joint taskforce set up to look at options for redeveloping the ground.

They include Lord Coe and Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham, while Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer was also a guest at the match.

Ratcliffe has said his "preference" is to build a new stadium for the club.

And as heavy rain fell towards the end of the Premier League fixture, water could be seen cascading down from the corner of the roof between the Sir Alex Ferguson Stand and East Stand on to the seats below.

Social media videos also showed water flowing down the steps of the Sir Bobby Charlton Stand, flooding a moat around the pitch.

There was some leakage into spaces below the stands including the away dressing room.

The PA news agency said senior figures met to discuss the issues following the game.

The club has not commented but told PA 41mm of rain fell in the two hours after the final whistle, compared to 29mm in the whole of last May.

The fact you showed no confidence in Arsenal winning vs spurs & United and then chose to call out others.

Then again you don't learn your lesson and choose to call others ignorant.

Keep up with your fake cheerleading 🤡

The problem you have now is that the logic and excuses you used to degrade and pummel Pakistan cricket achievements day in and day out, is the same logic and set of excuses you are now using to propel Arteta and Arsenal into some super stardom sphere. Not happening on this watch, which is why no one is paying much attention to you. Plus you have gone as far as ridiculing the Champions League tournament.

If Arsenal do not win, then it is an embarrassment, I mean winning the most number of games in a season (club record) yet not winning the title despite other teams regressing!

Anyway, you have been reduced to relying on Arsenal's arch rivals, Spurs, to do you a favour, tomorrow. This is the epitome of desperation, which is why there is a difference between a genuine fan and a genuine supporter, neither applies to you as you are an Arteta FanBoi.

Side note, I came across this, and thought of you:
