It's pretty obvious where we stand talent and ranking wise. No need to fool ourselves , the result could have easily been 6 to 1, had England not choked and we pulled things off in 2 very close finish games.

Within the resources we have based on performance in this series, past international and domestic tournaments, once in a while impactful runs I don't see Iftikhar, Asif or Shan will be dropped.

That leaves us with the big question of 3 players who pretty much wasted all their chances so far in Khushdil, Haider and Usman Qadir.

If you were chief selector who are your 3 better alternatives to pick from?

I find it very hard, for temporary upcoming world cup I would consider choosing from:

1. Imad, in good touch, way better than usman, full backup of shadab or Nawaz as he is an all rounder. Attitude issue will need to be ignored for world cup, he played and contributed in 2019 under Sarfraz as well. Even two Ws and Javed/Imran had conflict but performed when it mattered.

2. Haris Sohail, in good touch, past good world cup 2019 performance, play and times pace well.

3. Mohammed Haris, realize he has also failed in couple of t20 chances but is young and has more potential than Khushdil. Also full backup as keeper in case Rizwan gets injured or needs rest for a game or so. I think also a good sub 12th man fielder. Fielding let us down a lot in recent times.

For long term we may need to start looking for younger alternatives and change management/ coaching to develop the likes of Siam, Saud, Umar, Hurraira, Tayyab, Azam, etc.

Among current resources below is the playing XI I would go with:

1. Shan
2. Rizwan
3. Babar
4. Haris
5. Shadab
6. Asif
7. Nawaz
8. Imad
9. Shaheen
10. Haris
11. Naseem

If conditions favor fast bowling more or opposition weaker against it or has lot of lefties then consider dropping one of Imad or Haris Sohail for Hasnain.

12. Hasnain
13. Muhammad Haris
14. Iftikhar
15. Mohammed Amir (not going to happen so just put Wasim Jr.)

I’d say:

Khushdil Shah OUT
Imad Wasim IN

Haider Ali OUT
Mohammad Haris IN (from reserves)

There’s no like-for-like replacements for middle order batters right now. Especially not ones who can be blooded in a World Cup in Australia. Haris isn’t great either but at least he shows intent and is in better (relative) form than Haider. He might benefit from the experience more than Haider—who seems to have plateaued despite multiple tours. Won’t take out Qadir—he’s not great but if Shadab gets injured—we wont have a leg spinning option. And he also has some Australia experience. To maximize current resources, will just try to move the batting order up (moving Shadab, Nawaz and Asif up) and making it trimmer—instead of going for 3 middle order batters.

Imad in for kushdil. And one of azam khan or haris for haider

I think we'll be back with Fakhar. And if we play a rigid top order than I'd rather have him over Shan Masood at 3.

Imad is another pick that I'd go with. In his current form, he's an upgrade over Khushdil.

Fakhar Zaman for Haider Ali,
Imad Wasim for Khushdil.
Shoaib Malik for Iftikhar.

Zaman for Haider
Azam Khan for Qadir

Pak already have enough part-time bowlers in Ifti, Khusdil and even Zaman.

I wouldn't drop Khusdil!!

His 41 off 23 balls against WI is proof enough of his potential and I think he is better than Asif overall.

Keep Faith in Khusdil Shah, he will come good in NZ/Aus

Everyone is on his back atm, but he does have a lot of potential and that can be observed from his time in the PSL and his blistering innings of 41* off 23 balls against the WI just recently.

Overall, I think he is better than Asif.

Let’s just go full Test!

Babar
Rizwan
Shan
Kamran
Saud
Salman Agha
Shadab
Faheem

Is Mohammad Haris the one who opened in one of the games and batted like an absolute clown?

I tend to agree to give him another few games to be honest, he did hit one massive six and he looks aggressive. Like all Pakistan batsmen, he doesn't play through the line, if someone can tell him to calm down and play the first over or two according to the line then he might have a chance.

The only change I would go with is replacing Khushdil with Imad plus moving Qadir to reserves and bringing Fakhar into the 15.

No point in any drastic changes. This is the group that has been invested in for the last year so it'd be better to lose with them and start fresh for the next tournament cycle than to bring in a bunch of new guys, do poorly with them and then go back to square 1

01-Saim Ayub

03-M.Rizwan.
04-Haris Sohail
05-Fakhar Zaman
06-Shadab Khan
07-Asif Ali
08-Imad Waseem
09-Haris Rauf
10-M. Hasnain
11-Shaeen Shah Afridi
-Bench-
12-Naseem Shah
13-Shan Masood
14-Sahibzada Farhan
15-M. Nawaz
-Reserve-
16-Sarfaraz Ahmed
17-Haider Ali
18-Aamer Jamal

01-Saim Ayub

Good squad! I would swap Naseem and Hasnain or keep both if Shaheen is not fit enough.

Nawaz and Imad can be alternated too.

But absolutely agree with Saim Ayub and Haris

From the current lot they cant change many , but what im thinking is

Fakhar comes in for Khusdil
Malik come in for Haider

However Asif plays he is not getting the boot, sick of this garbage batsman...

Very clear he cant play proper cricket shots or last more than 10 balls... Next game would be his 50th T20I cant think of anyone who undeservingly play so many matches for Pakistan..

Khushdil Shah out-- Imad Wasim in
Asif Ali out -- Shoaib Malik in

(Asif Ali has failed again to play a long innings, all he can do is hit a couple of sixes and sometimes even not that)

Ramiz Raja's policy
Ramiz has picked out Batters who can hit big (Khusdil, Chacha Iftikhar & Asif Ali) Now he wants to back those without fear of failure. Ramiz believes if we back the right talent eventually they will develop into reliable power hitting batsmen.

Well, Ramiz's Idea is not working All three of them have big hitting potential but you can't persist with an out of form cricketer especially when he doesn't have an international track record which is the case with Khushdil.
Asif Ali is a club cricketer who has very limited batting ability, no matter how many chances you give him, he will not rise from that level because his stroke play is limited and he can't adapt to different situations.

Haider ali stays for me.

He has the potential to be a Pakistani great.

Shan has no place in my first XI.

I like the fact that you have picked 6 proper bowlers. Thats the way!

Imad Wasim for Qadir
Fakhar for Khushdil

But I would keep Haider Ali, not interested in another Shoaib Malik comeback

1. Rizwan
2. Babar
3. Masood
4. Iftikhar
5. Shadab
6. Fakhar
7. Asif

I would bring Sharjeel,Shaoib Malik,Azam Khan and Fakhar in the 15.

Dahani dropped from all the squad
Qadir Dropped from all the squad
Khushdil dropped from all the squad
Shan dropped from all the squad

Malik needs to be in the team, he is one of the greatest T20 batsmen of all time.

Think the chances of Imad returning to the squad have become a little brighter due to the recent hamstring injury to Shadab.

Usman Qadir out - Imad Wasim in
Khushdil Shah out - Fakhar Zaman in
Haider Ali out - Azam Khan in
Mohammad Wasim out - Fahim Ashraf in (maybe)

True. Does bat like an absolute clown usually. But he’s a slightly different type of clown than the rest of these generic clowns. So might as well, what else do we have lol.
