Why a different set of rules for bowlers and batsmen?

So amir and wahab got warned for walking on the pitch. Rightly so, kudos to umpirea for upholding the rules. Most people will agree it's the right decision by umpires.

Now the second part, Kohli is intentionally running in the middle of the pitch and trying to create rough with his spikes. Even if he starts running on the side of pitch in between the run he crosses over and comes right in the middle of the pitch. It's clear as day he's doing it intentionally.

Why hasn't the umpires warned him yet? The rules should be same for both bowlers and batsmen. Umpires need to start taking a stand and warn batsmen as well.

Don’t worry, once Pakistani batsmen start doing this then umpires will start upholding the rules with more discipline and consistency :)

When did this happen? He is coming right off the pitch. Amir on the other hand wasn't even in his follow through, he was walking right on the pitch

If that happens I will accept the umpires were biased. But for now I will say they are just favouring batsmen or are incompetent.

When you see Amir casually strolling on the pitch I wonder how some people can still act the victim.

They are not favouring batsman because you came up with a fictional account which never happened. Not a single commentator or fan has even noticed this

I saw it 3-4 times. They are not commenting on it, but if you watch closely he has done it multiple times. He just did again but the camera went to fielder when he was crossing in middle of pitch so you wouldn't have seen it unless you were watching specifically for it before the camera went to fielder.

I call a spade a spade. If you want to turn a blind eye upto you.

I agree with you wholeheartedly.

If the rule is designed to protect the condition of the wicket, it must apply to the batsmen when running too.

Personally it is time to overhaul the ODI rules. Too much is favouring the batsmen because right now there is no incentive to become a bowler.

OP is not lying. It is a clear observation, and the reason the commentators are not saying anything is because the rule doesn't apply to the batsmen hence the running is not breaking the rules.

Not a single commentator noticed Amir or Wahab running in the no go area during follow through, until they received warnings from the Umpires. What's your point?

As you even watching the match?

I didn't know the rule doesn't apply to batsmen. This is a ridiculous rule and needsnto be scrapped, the side batting second can gain unfair advantage for their spinners by creating the rough.

Kohli should be fined for blatantly running in the middle of the pitch :))) :)))

That was daylight cheating lol.

clearly you haven't played cricket.

A fast bowler's shoes have long spikes which dig into the turf, batsmen dont wear such shoes and thus these rules are not applicable to them.

Batsmen also use front spikes these days. Don't they?

Seems like you have not played cricket let alone followed the sport. Both batsmen and bowlers have spikes.

I did indeed see Kohli run right down the middle of the pitch on one occasion.

There is no doubt, ODI now favours the batsmen. Fielding restrictions, 2 balls, and the bats themselves. In comparison to bowler rules, where there are none which tilt the balance, even the balls used in this WC have a thinner seam, pretty much mitigating any seam movement and the skills associated with it, yet thick/dense bats are permitted. Even the wide rules in ODI are pathetic and favour the batsmen.

This is why I love Test cricket, there is more balance between bat and ball, leading to a fairer competition despite one fielding restriction in Test cricket.

The argument that said ODI rules is inducive to entertainment is a joke too, because IMO a Test match can be way more entertaining than a LoI.

The umpire is on move when batsman start to run whereas they stand still and watch when bowlers are bowling

Yah, noticed that a number of times when he crossed the pitch midway for no reason.

This is a depiction of just how biased the game had become in favor of batsmen. you can get away with everything.

To the victim mentality crowd, no this has nothing to do with India getting favouritism. I cant remember any batsman from any team getting called out on that in recent past. were just getting mauled by a much better team, digest that and move on.

Kohli was obviously doing that as a tactic and doing it regularly. It also shows how Pakistani players have zero game awareness or sense and why we languish at the bottom of the cricketing pile.

Not a single fielder/captain/bowler complained about it to the umpire. None of them ever complain about opposition throwing the ball on the pitch, just zero plain understanding of cricket tactics.

ICC has been biased towards big 3.

Wahab was unnecessarily warned, while kohli kept on running on the pitch unscathed

Everything goes when you have ICC in your pocket. I think Pakistan should simply walk out of the field when this happens next time. No need to talk to or consult the biased umpires.
