Why are straight drives the popular choice for right-handed batsmen?

I've observed that Pakistani right hand batsman play way lot of straight drives than required. A majority of the time,these end up as dot balls.Eg: Azhar Ali, Hafeez, Malik, Safraz

Why arent the batsman able to find the gaps?Why do they have to always play an aggressive risky stroke to get a 2 or 3?

because the fielder at straight are inside the circle. If the ball ends up passing its an easy four.


another reason is, our batsmen are low on confidence

The only person who had the dexterity to find the gaps quite easily was probably Younis Khan. Apart from that maybe Safraz also has the array of shots, though he hasnt been as effective
