Why are there no speed guns in domestic televised matches?

Can you guys comment why we do not have speed guns in our domestic cricket matches. i.e Quide Azam Trophy Final, Domestic T20 or One day Cup. I saw that years back but only in few matches where sometime speed gun showed the numbers not all the time.

If we have speed guns available that can really identify correct talent in different region/cities.

Forget speed gun.

Why the cameras are still 360p? Heck, even less than that. It's a joke.

there should be speed guns, after each delivery your eyes look for the kph/mph of the delivery, especially when the young pacers are bowling.

Also why do the commentators sound like they're from the 60's?

Pakistan international matches are broadcasted in poor quality cameras

I’m hoping Wasim khan at least sorts our broadcasting quality out for crying out load. It’s torturous to watch Pak games on TV unless they are on Sky sports by default

Speed guns cost £20

So not sure what cost cutting is needed?

PCB’s live-streams are better than whatever it is they play on PTV for live matches. It’s embarrassing.

Yeah the Youtube livestreams are in 720p HD, and the commentators are definitely better than those terrible National t20 commentators they had from PTV.

I'm pretty sure PTV is still 480p. That's just embarassing.

Doesnt make any sense.

this is what happens when you just take money out and dont invest it back into the business, nothing has improved for the past decades. too many leeches in the pcb.

The livestreams are doing well and they don’t compromise on PSL broadcasts. It just seems that PTV Sports gets certain broadcast rights just so it can stay relevant and people would actually watch the channel. Either PTV needs a massive infrastructure boost from the government or the PCB should really fight for all matches to be livestreamed or broadcast on private channels which have the resources. I’m pretty sure they don’t like what they see either. State broadcasters don’t get to broadcast cricket matches pretty much anywhere. It’s either private channels or county/cricket board streams.

TV channels have a much wider reach still in a country like Pakistan. It's important to broadcast matches on TV also, but the problem is the shortage of sports broadcasters in Pakistan.

An article here explains it well: http://www.pakpassion.net/ppforum/showthread.php?288659

Thanks for that, it was a good—if quite depressing—read. So much focus seems to be on filling up our stadiums as soon as possible. While that’s important, if the broadcast issues are sorted out, they can go much farther to help the PCB coffers.

When will Pakistan use speed-guns in First-Class cricket?

When will we see quality Speedgun in first class cricket so that we could see bowlers speed in 3rd and 4th spell and on every ball.

Saj if you could ask Wasim khan

Would be great if it can be implemented. I mentioned it in the Nat T20 suggestions as well.

It will be a very good move to see what people bowl at in domestic wickets.

I have a suspicion that we are often deceived of pace by the camera angles, and that most of our medium pacers and medium-fast bowlers bowl quite slow at times.

Will be another important statistical tool to consider for domestic teams. Will surely improve our domestic standard.

Once they had in one national t20 but it would only give speed of one ball per over that was really disappointing hopefully we can have top quality speed gun.

Before playing test match that would ensure that selectors see if he bowls with passion in 3rd and 4 spell.

glad theres not, otherwise we'd have another one or two match 90 mph bowler being talks about as an international prospect. let em take wickets and gets stats and judge pace afterwards.

fwiw you dont need speed guns to judge real pacers, if u cant get domestic level batsmen hopping, ducking and jumping around u wont get international batsmen doing it either.

PCB’s live stream on YouTube is 1080p which isn’t bad considering what they show on PTV sports.

Speed guns will actually encourage lot of fast bowlers
Also they will exclude non wicket taking thunders

Either be 90 mph or take wickets
No other way

Selectors will be able to see bowlers speed in 3rd and 4th spell what more can we ask for
