What's new

Why did Pakistan carry injured players to Australia for the ICC T20 World Cup 2022?

Shaheen/Qadir/Fakhar we’re not fully fit. Why bring them to Australia for a free ride?

1. Because if he missed the WT20 the PCB would’ve gotten a lot of criticism for taking him on tour to Netherlands instead of sending him to London earlier. They wanted to show everyone that they had everything under control and were managing him properly.

2. Qadir because he’s Babar’s bff.

3. Fakhar because he’s the only batsman that’s capable of playing attacking cricket.

Shaheen is our premier bowler so they had to take the gamble. No point keeping him ready for the JAMLOI's that come afterwards.

A half fit Fakhar is worth more than our entire middle order combined. If he gets fit later in the series he walks into the side over the jokers we have now.

Clueless as usual

A half fit Fakhar is apparently Inzimam+Miandad combined?

There's probably an aspect to this too. Rush him back to try and cover up the botch job they did managing his recovery. Really sad to see.

Never ever take injured players to any game that is played at an international level. Babar and Rambo are responsible for making this blunder. Can't believe that we decided to select injured players for a world cup tournament.

Such a big question , I'm not fond of opening new threads but was about to open one for this question and I'm glad you raised this .

Most ridiculous case is of Fakhar. Team desperately needed a batsman who could score at least 10 runs, Khushdil, Asif and Haider could not do it , Fakhar was taken with the team but was injured and was not able to play.

How can a fast bowler who has injured his knee and the first proper match you give him after injury is a match against your arch rivals India in a world cup tournment?

If Shaheen was not fit enough to take part in some of the England series (7 matches btw) or the tri series in New Zealand, made no sense to pick him for T20 World cup squad. And now we see the results, a half fit Shaheen who is a hinderence to the team.

Well done Pakistan 'think' tank!

If you'll ask the PCB sincerely if a World T20 tournament is equivalent to a bilateral against Scotland- they will say with seriousness that both are equal humans created by Allah and therefore are equal in our eyes too. So you can understand the methodology they apply to their cricket and subsequently how they approach every tour.
