Why do Indians and Pakistanis love liberals from each other's countries and hate their own?

I noticed this trend many times online on social media, online communities and news sites comments sections.

What's the main reason behind this hate for their own liberals while loving the liberals of enemy country?

Is it because they love it when someone from enemy's country expose faults in their own society but they hate it when someone from their own country point out their own faults?

Spot on.

Muslims in the West love voting for parties who are anti-racist, parties who promote equality between all religions and no bigotry against homosexuality. Yet if anyone made a party based on these values in Pakistan they might as well sign their death warrant.

Hypocrisy nothing else.

Have seen this trend among my countrymen, who are apologists for what happens in the country but are vocal supporters of Pakistani liberals.

With Brexit and the rise of Alt-Right ( AKA White Nationalism) in the western world, we are in an era where liberals around the world are on the run. It's a necessary cleansing of the collective soul that we all must go through. Once we have had enough of it, we'll go back to peace, love and multiculturalism for the majority, with the radical right wingers and liberals once more on the fringes.

Because conservatives, both religious and nationalist but especially the nationalists, in both countries are intellectually challenged idiots who have nothing better to do than to crib about all that is wrong with the other country and how all their problems are caused by the neighboring state so it's a godsend for them when liberals from the other side criticize their own countries because the conservatives now have the time tested "see, even their own people are criticizing their country" argument. It doesn't hurt that they embellish the liberals' arguments liberally(no pun intended) and present them as proof that they were right all along. That said, I've noticed that the kind of 'nothing is sacred' liberalism that is ubiquitous among Pakistan's (admittedly minuscule) liberal circles is not as common in India and Indian liberals don't hold their state to account nearly as forcefully as their Pakistani counterparts which is pretty disappointing.

Do you think you're a liberal?

From what I see on the internet, what you say seems to be true.

As CC once said, there is not a single true out and out Indian liberal on PP.

Because you're writing on a public forum with views thinking you're some kind of liberal but imo your views are much more towards the right.

Thank you for that insight. As our resident expert on liberalism, any advice and/or analysis from you is most welcome. I will take it into consideration and realign my views accordingly in order to be more liberal. Now as you've pointed out, this a public forum where you can chose to engage anyone, the same way I can chose not to answer any questions I find ridiculous, intrusive, loaded, disingenuous and many other things of that nature.

So called liberal's try to satisfy everyone by keeping one foot in both camps which is why I absolutely despise them. They are to afraid to call a spade a spade! Most Pakistanis hatepeople like Shahid Masood, Mubashar Lucman, Zaid Hamid and Amir Liaquat Hussain for calling it the way it is. To Pakistani liberals patriotism is a disgusting word unless it means making peace with India on their terms. These type have sold their soul to the devil without even realising it.
