On Eid ul Adha, you will find two kinds of consumer who handle eid meat.

The first ones are those that buy the sacrificial animal, keep it at their residence, arrange a qasai, have it slaughetered and than make botis out of it

The second kind of consumers are those that do "Qurbani by proxy". Basically, in this procesure, you pay an amount to either a company, welfare organization or a slaughter house, who than by the animal on your behalf, have it slaughtered and cut into botis. All you need to do is collect the botis and thats about it.
If you dont want to collect the botis, the organizations than transports the botis to the charities.

Now every eid ul adha in Pakistan, the second kind of buyer is frowned upon and many tend to pass comments that their sacrifice doesnt really count as they didnt go through the whole ordeal of buying, taking care and slaughtering it infront of their eyes.

What is the take of you guys on this? Does qurbani through proxy count or not? I understand that many who live overseas cant keep an animal at home and even during hajj you have to get qurbani done through proxy.

Many organizations like junaid jamsheds meatone, edhi center, shaukat khanum, al khidmat center have been doing this for many years. Shaukat khanaum and edhi directly distribute it to the poor.

Also, another reason why people prefer qurbani through proxy is because the animal is priced less compared to buying a live animal in the market. Currently, a sacrificial goat is starting from 50k, while organizations that do it on your behalf have goats of 12-14 kig priced from 30k. thus, considering the inflation, many people prefer qurbani through proxy.

Guess the idea is to feel the sacrifice by doing yourself.

But personally speaking, I find doing e-qurbani a better way to distribute meat to those who need it.

News of animals being stolen etc - makes me think doing a Qurbani via institutions is a much better way to do this.

There is a huge sacrifice site. You go buy and they distribute or people share in their group.

Not sure what it means by proxy, its not a conflict or war.

Its better for people to pay for it done by professionals who will also distribute to the most needy. Many like to make a show for others to see in Pakistan.

Well organised, improved a lot over recent years.

Previously surplus meat would be burnt or buried. What a waste this was and Im not sure if this would mean your qurbani is accepted! Now they freeze surplus meat and send it overseas.

Online portal for purchase of sacrificial animals launched

The Punjab government has launched its first official online portal enabling citizens to purchase sacrificial animals from the comfort of their homes.

This portal allows people to buy sacrificial animals online ahead of Eidul Adha, streamlining the process with growing trend of modern technology.

The portal provides detailed listings of animals including their pictures, age, weight, species, breed, price and other relevant information.

Officials from the Punjab Cattle Market Management have ensured that the portal is secure for transactions, requiring ID card numbers from both buyers and sellers.

According to the MET office, if the month of Zilqad in Pakistan consists of 29 days, then the month of Zilhajj will begin on June 8, and simultaneously, Eidul Adha 2024 will be celebrated on June 17.

In the second scenario, if the month of Zilqad prolongs to 30 days, then the month of Zilhajj will begin on June 9 and the Eidul Adha will fall on June 18.

However, the formal announcement in Pakistan will be made by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee after the sighting of the moon of Zilhajj 1455.

Eidul Adha, also known as the Feast of Sacrifice, is one of two Eid festivals celebrated by the Muslim faithful to commemorate Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son to God. Traditionally marked by the slaughter of animals, whose meat is shared with family members and the poor.

The faithful slaughter their sacrificial animals in remembrance of the tradition of Prophet Ibrahimi, which continues for three days of Eid.
