On Eid ul Adha, you will find two kinds of consumer who handle eid meat.
The first ones are those that buy the sacrificial animal, keep it at their residence, arrange a qasai, have it slaughetered and than make botis out of it
The second kind of consumers are those that do "Qurbani by proxy". Basically, in this procesure, you pay an amount to either a company, welfare organization or a slaughter house, who than by the animal on your behalf, have it slaughtered and cut into botis. All you need to do is collect the botis and thats about it.
If you dont want to collect the botis, the organizations than transports the botis to the charities.
Now every eid ul adha in Pakistan, the second kind of buyer is frowned upon and many tend to pass comments that their sacrifice doesnt really count as they didnt go through the whole ordeal of buying, taking care and slaughtering it infront of their eyes.
What is the take of you guys on this? Does qurbani through proxy count or not? I understand that many who live overseas cant keep an animal at home and even during hajj you have to get qurbani done through proxy.
Many organizations like junaid jamsheds meatone, edhi center, shaukat khanum, al khidmat center have been doing this for many years. Shaukat khanaum and edhi directly distribute it to the poor.
Also, another reason why people prefer qurbani through proxy is because the animal is priced less compared to buying a live animal in the market. Currently, a sacrificial goat is starting from 50k, while organizations that do it on your behalf have goats of 12-14 kig priced from 30k. thus, considering the inflation, many people prefer qurbani through proxy.
