Why is the Pakistan cricket team so inconsistent?

I know this is an age-old question that has no apparent Answer or solution to it (for now) but at least previously we could excuse ourselves with the fact that there wasn't a pro-athlete setup in place to guide our crickterers on how to consistency perform at a acceptable level.

With Micky and Co finally taking charge and PCB appointing an 'aggressive captain' as per say. Why is it that we have literally hit rock bottom again in less than 8 months with the same set of players that won us a World Tournament recenty?

Is it that our players aren't mentally programmed to perform at a consistent level which is required at the International Stage? Is it because the skill-set isn't there? Lack of intent? What is it?

They are very consistent. Only sometimes they won due to their inconsistencies.

They were on a 9-0 ODI streak :| and then all of a sudden they now cannot win a single game against NZ even when they had a depleated team in the last 2 ODIs.........

It's just a game. You guys have a wonderful young talent in team. Just some dross from previous generation

Well plain and simple we tend to have a speciality to "seniors" which don't have an understanding to modern cricket. We also didn't have any preperation in NZ, we also don't seem to have a reliable fitness camp with players like Sarfaraz Ahmed, Umar Akmal, Kamran Akmal and Imad Wasim passing through it. We basically have many aspects of our game to improve, we need to pick players on merit, we need to groom young talent like were doing to Shadab, Hasan & Faheem. We need to have proper training procedures put in place with fitness instructors. We need to get rid of the TTFs. On the plus side our fielding has improved in many aspects.

The way you're describing it here, it would seem that this might take around 2 decades to get it done (realistically).

A winning streak against the likes of SL does not mean anything these days. Even Zimbabwe managed to beat them, and if this team were to play SL again next week, they would whitewash them again.

The successive wins against SA, England and India in the Champions Trophy were one-off wins. These teams, along with Australia and NZ, would beat Pakistan 8/10 times in all conditions.

The answer to this question is that Pakistan is a mediocre team, which means that it will lose majority of its matches against the world class sides.

However, this mediocrity (which leads to inconsistency) is marketed in Pakistan as 'unpredictability' and 'mercuriality'.
