Why not have a four-day game between top performers in QEA Trophy XI vs Pakistan Test XI?

Reckon that would be a great game to watch and also to judge where we stand with QEA as a tournament.

In theory this will be a close game and based on that, QEA top performers could be selected for national Test squad.

Can easily be organized after end of the Trophy or between Rounds based on availability

Why four day though? Why not simulate the real test duration?

Does Pakistan have Duleep Trophy equivalent in their domestic calendar?

I'm for it but unfortunately , too much weightage would be given by pak fans and media on performance within a single game with regards to national selection.
Its just the cultural mindset unfortunately

Pretty good idea and oppurtunity for the players to impress coach, captain and senior players by performing against them.

Sikandar Bakjt also came up with this idea the other day and similar things used to happen in past. It is perfect for warm up matches before a Test series also, especially in UAE.

Even if such a scenario did come about I expect full well that Fawad would somehow not make the First Class tea as well due to nepotism.

The only reason they don't do stuff like this is that the FC XI would smash the living daylights out of our National team. And this is only if half of them turn up in these games.....

This is never going to happen for a number of reasons, most importantly the fact that the Pakistan XI will end up losing to the other XI and it will cause a lot of embarrassment for a lot of the players involved. This is the problem with Pakistan cricket. Ego's and personal self esteem trump benefit of Pakistan cricket!

This would be a good idea. This can really distinguish between those who are International Class and those who are not.

Indian domestic season starts with Irani trophy - defending Ranji Champs taking on rest of IND. I think, BCB starts FC season with BCB Green vs Red (Or BD vs BD A) but not sure every year. Long back, in County, there were 2 such matches at the start of season - Gentlemen vs Players and Champion County match (same like Irani Trophy, but played at the Champion's home). In old WI, I am sure there was something similar, but can't recall.

So the concept isn't new. If I take a 5 day match from QEA season so far the XII will be like

Yamin, Raza Hasan,
Usama Mir, Asif, Sohail Khan
12th- Bilawal Iqbal

Not every bowler picked on stats, because on these wickets, slow left-arm darters & metronome seemers are earning wickets in dozen. In fact Raza doesn't make it on stats, because there are 4 SLAO spinners ahead of him. I picked the best 2 leggis available

Yamin's stats are mind blowing, I picked Bilawal over Hammad for his bowling as the back up all-rounder. Imam played only 2 matches & there are too many lefti for a change, hence Abid Ali comes. Butt doesn't make the QEA 2nd team on merit to be honest, while Fawad's current season is just OK, 3 middle orders are out performing him comfortably. No idea about Faizan Riaz, Ameer Sajjad or Rizwan Hussain - I have picked the youngest one (just 21) & Saud for starter & Faizan for squad; Amir Sajjad is just too old. Pace pair picks themselves, though not sure what Asif, Sohail & Amin can do in UAE. One thing, I can say that this is far balanced.

I'll make Asif Captain FOR SURE, he actually would have been my PAK Test captain had he been playing; Amin comes as his deputy.

This will be a very close contested series anywhere for sure.
