Last time I saw him, he was doing throw-downs for other batsmen.

Seems to be content with sitting in the back but is the time coming up for Lahore to try him out? From captain of LQ to an extra - wow!

Good rest for him. He is the MVP in our Test squad. It is a mental and physical break which can only be beneficial.

I think he's content to not be playing and just enjoying himself which is probably needed. Hes been playing non stop since the England tour last summer! A break will do him good and he'll come back much stronger in the ODI series im sure.

So why isnt his place being given to some poor bloke who didnt get picked?

I don't think he'll get a chance, but LQ need someone to bat through and Azhar can be that guy.

The former Pakistani ODI captain (Azhar Ali) was not selected for a single PSL game

Azhar Ali, who was the captain of Pakistan and Lahore team, was not even given a single game by his franchise, who yet came at last position even when the captaincy was given to McAggressive

Let me remind you that this is the same Azhar Ali who was the third highest scorer for Lahore Qalanders last year.

DOn't you think his team was unfair to him?

This was a domestic tournament, not international.

No, I do not think they were unfair. Lahore was trying to win and bringing in an extremely limited batsman wouldn't have helped.

There was no spot for him in the side. Zaman performed so they couldn't drop him and Umar made a couple of handy contributions so he couldn't be left out either. Azhar would've enjoyed the time off though I guess after a long winter season.

Pujara also does not get selected in IPL.

Both Azhar and Pujara are limited players.

Azhar has no business being associated with T20 cricket let alone ODIs while he should, similar to Asad Shafiq, thank his lucky stars that he is getting to at least be a part of the PSL rather than being completely ignored.

The only reason he was selected as the ODI captain was because PCB wanted someone who could speak English at pressers and be controversy free. Azhar was given 18 months (a fair amount of time) to showcase if he can transform himself into a limited overs player but unfortunately the guy is just not meant to play these - A gun Test player but an extremely poor Limited Overs one and a horrible strategist.

What people further fail to realize is that PSL is a privatized tournament now and the franchises are owned by investors who have no obligation to nurture and provide favors for PCB employees. If they think that Azhar is not capable or good enough to be in the playing XI then so be it, nobody should have any problems with it whatsoever.

That is surprising. Harsh not to play him in a single game. I hope Azhar Ali shows his class sooner rather than later, because people have been waiting a long time for it, and it definitely exists.

even the great vvs laxman was dropped by hyderabad team in ipl
so azhar ali was rightly dropped

PSL is a business before cricket. Azhar Ali does not fit in the business mold. His cricket is not attractive but effective. Only on Tests that is.

Unfortunately he may torment our ODI team for at least 2 years along with Rahat, Hafeez, Gul, Shafiq, Kamran, Shehzad....

If he had played, they would have lost the couple of matches they won too.

I think he would've improved their batting.

As the legends say- "Where there is a tuk tuk, there is no collapse." :misbah4
