Will Misbah-ul-Haq feel that heat if we lose a match like Mickey Arthur?

Title says it all.

I am not a fan of any of them but looks like Misbah has very good back up from PM, former players, PCB and media. The journey as a coach will be so smooth for Misbah at least for good 3-4 years without having much headache even we perform very average.

At least he will not get severe criticism from S Nawaz, Miandad, Razzaq, Basit, Tanvir... or even journalists.

Misbah should utilize this back up and build up a decent team if he wants to be respected by future generations.

Your opinion please!!!!

I think you are forgetting that Misbah has quite a large club of haters in the media... remember the 'expert panel' of Shoaib Akhtar, Mohammad Yousuf and Sikandar Bakht?

Anyway, the criticism from these ex-players should always be ignored because they largely do it with ulterior motives.

However, PCB have indicated that by appointing him as Head Coach and Chief Selector, he is in full control - so less blame to spread around with this system. If there's poor selections or poor performances, he will be under pressure.

He will be under immense pressure and i expect him to quit atleast one may be both in 6 months to 1 year if he is not selecting the right players or for poor performance

He will be more in pressure than Mickey.

That I know for sure.

Mickey got a free pass for a lot of matches on the back of the CT win. Which credit to him was a great achievement. Sarfraz also copped more blame due to his fitness issues.

I think Misbah will get a lot more blame than Mickey will get, whoever the captain is. It's not just because of who he is, he's also got more responsibility than any coach has in the past, getting chief selector role too.

Its not something he isn't used too. He never felt any shame or guillt for being single handedly responsible for many defeats, he won't feel any different as coach

Mickey had an advantage as loosing became a norm under his tenure so losses were not taken as seriously because everyone was pretty much used to them.

Misbah will obviously feel the heat as well just like any other coach but he has even more responsibility and thus more accountability too so he needs to be up for the task from the very start.

This hence the reason why i call him shameless.

A shameless person cannot feel any shame.

Just when our cricket was improving we are again going to go back to the days of "respectable defeat"

Atleast Misbah the saviour will not have a place to hide, he is coach and chief selector, so completely in control. Any slip up and all of PP and media will slaughter him. Looking forward to it.

Every coach feels the heat in Pakistan when team loses a game. Misbah will probably be no different.

I cant say with certainty how Misbah will do but how was our cricket improving?

We went down from no 1 and top 3 of test ladder to no 7, improved just couple of spots on ODIs by going from 8 to 6 and dont remember any memorable ODI victory except CT 17. Yes we did improve in T20 though but its not like we were a poor side in that format before as well.

Lost almost every test series and ODI series so overall I dont know why we say that cricket was improving. Yes few youngsters came in thanks to U19 cricket and PSL for showcasing them

We went to number 7 in tests during Misbah's tenure.

I am not sure of its true as I remember that in the last test of Misbah and Younus we won the first ever Test series in WI. Yes were werent no 1 then.

We werent even 7 before loosing 2-0 to Srl if I am right.

When Sarfaraz took over, Pakistan was #6.

Yes Pak was 6th with 97 points but just one point behind NZ and 3 behind Eng which were 5th and 4th and not to forget at that time even 3rd and 2nd ranked teams were pretty close in points.

Currently Pak has just 84 points, so other than loosing 1 position the thing to notice is we have lost 13 points which is quite a lot in terms of ranking table.

It will be hilarious if we start bossing it around in the beginning of his tenure and then slowly disintegrate.

One never knows the fortunes of a Pakistan Cricket Administrator.

Some people don't need a reason to hate Misbah. They already do. And that includes many of our distinguished posters on PP. They have already decided that Misbah will fail so everything else is irrelevent to them. They hated Misbah during his playing days, they hate him now. Whatever.

These people are just a background noise. Their opinion does not matter. That said, Misbah will face unprecedented scrutiny because no one coach has had this kind of power. And he rightly should be held accountable for his decisions. Not everything that the team does.

I expect Misbah to not have trouble with this level of scrutiny though. He has a thick skin and has seen and heard the worst as captain. I doubt he will be particularly bothered by what people are saying.

Lol the same thing can be said for people who love Misbah for no reason, irrespective of what he does or does not do, they will still blindly love and support him, deliberately making exceptions for him on grey areas, unethical situations

How is it the same? Misbah is the coach. He will stay coach regardless of what you or a dozen Mohammad Yousufs and Sikandar Bakts say. His job security is in his own hands and that of the PCB.

No one is calling Misbah the second coming of Imran and Miandad but any sensible person knows that few captains have achieved for Pakistan cricket what he has. Lifting the team from the demoralizing events of 2010, staying unbeaten in UAE, series series wins in Sri Lanka, New Zealand. Pakistan's first-ever series win in West Indies. A drawn series in England. The No. 1 test ranking. All while being a reliable middle-order batsmen who averaged 46-47 for most of his career.

And the "grey areas", conflict of interest are not as serious as you are making them out to be. Exaggerating things just to prove your point only projects your bias
