Will Mohammad Hafeez walk back into the eleven now that he has cleared the bowling test?

Interesting as Micky clearly indicated that he'll be considered once he's passed the test. Knowing Micky, he's a strong planner and may has planned for the worse. Ideally, he shouldn't be in the starting 11 but now that Babar is injured, he'll probably bat in his fav 1 down position. (Silly Babar for not wearing an arm guard)
Looks like it we could have the below starting 11 against zimbos (50 overs):
Azhar/shehzad
Fakhar
Hafeez
Sohail
Malik
Sarfaraz
Shadab
Faheem
Hasan
Amir
Shinwari

On the bench, we're looking at:

Asif Ali
Nawaz
Imam
Umaid Asif/ Hasan Raza

Will be the ultimate litmus test to determine Inzi's credibility as a chief selector. If this ttf is selected again then we know Inzi is no better than previous selectors

He is a good friend of Mickey and Inzi.
If they want to bring him back then he has to play at 6/7.
Personally, I would love if he would come back.

I remember his fine innings against Bangladesh in the WT2016

Hafeez is the once in a generation kind of player, that you select first in the playing XI and then you work out the other 10 around him. Still has a good 10 years left at his peak, would get him back into the team at the earliest available opportunity as I'm sure Inzamam and Mickey Arthur will do.

I do not understand hate. He was our number one for a few years in one days. His bowling is a very valuable He really slows down scoring rate. His innings against India in the championship trophy final was a winning innings. Feel that the professor Is a good addition

Hope not

It’s a 100 steps backwards and he will be called again when he inevitably reverts to chucking due to fear of being dropped

Precisely - well said because I doubt Mickey Arthur wants him given his preference for younger players over TTF veterans like Hafeez.

Many on here are quick to jump to the conclusion that Inzy is the best selector but given his track record of numerous mistakes, there are concerns and remains unproven. Unfortunately Sarfraz and Mickey Arthur are not getting as much credit as they deserve.

Please don’t call him back against Zimbabwe. If we have to recall him please do it during the harder series against SA so he gets exposed.

How many times has he been called now? Feels like it's been an age since his bowling has been banned and he's tried to comeback by passing the tests and then had reverted back to his usual chucking. I hope he doesn't get selected, far too inconsistent as a batsman and not upto modern standards in the shorter formats and nothing to write home about as a bowler or fielder either whilst playing under the current ICC rules.

3 times now

and it's the usual pattern. He comes back, bowling is bang average. Yes, he doesn't go for much but he offers no threat. As soon as he is about to get dropped he starts chucking, gets a couple of wickets, getting called, fails tests, screams conspiracy and rinse and repeat.

Yes, as good a batsman like the guy in your profile name and a better cricketer - because he can chuck.

However, I must say you are not right to the point Sir - 2027 WC is less than 9 years away, not 10.

I haven't really watched LOIs regularly at all apart from the CT last year but I'm aware that Shadab plays as the main spinner, so I don't see why there is a need for Hafeez to be in the team given that he is below par in all the other facets of the game.

Pakistan could use Hafeez one final time in the Asia cup on those Asian tracks before he gets reported again.

But we know Mickey and he prefers young talent and with Shadab, Faheem + the new recruit Talat looking to do well Hafeez's chances are slim.

If the Maestro makes it again then wow that would be something, but Pak should use it at the right time knowing he will be called again.

Nah i think at Hafeezs age now we should move on from.him.at international level. Not beneficial for us to build for the future. Should just play T20 leagues now

All the possible batting positions were filled already if Mickey chose to opt for Fahim taking the seventh spot. But with Babar's injury, yes a position opens up. But you'd think they would choose someone as a stop gap they could offload when Babar returns. So more a younger player they could give experience.

Given there's no stable opener with Fakhar and I'm not sure they're too ready to promote Haris to opener, I think Imam will play instead. Give him some practice given he's already seemingly part of the test team. Then once Babar returns, Imam will focus solely on tests again.

Hafeez is even worse compared to the fixer trio for the game of cricket when you actually sit and think about it.

Fixer trio did a couple no balls, gave a few extra runs.

Hafeez chucked, batsmen were unable to pick him, created pressure and ended up with a wicket, obviously a bigger impact on the game. It's incredibly saddening that he was in our CT squad, because it does take some shine off that win.

What's even worse is that he does this knowingly, and reverts back to it to keep leeching on to our team.

Finally we have been playing youngsters after moaning for years on this forums and the result is evident. As long as we kick out chuckers and leeching seniors then we will remain and decent side, and perhaps in a decade or two, with better infrastructure, a world class side.

Wasn't there reports of there being a fall out between Mickey and Hafeez. I hope MA blocks Prof's re-entry into the side. We could do with lesser oldies than more.

On one hand ABDV retired at age of 34 when he still had 2-3 years left in him, and then we have Prof clinging on at the ripe old age of 36. Pakistani cricketers are definitely a different breed.

Not sure how he will get a spot in the 11. Babar should be back by mid July giving him his #3 spot while Haris will play at 4. Also, Hussain Talat and Asif will shortly be included in the squad so Hafeez really doesn't even make it to the squad, forget the playing 11.

Yeah yeah, he will go down in history as the greatest allrounder to play the game and possesses a beautiful bowling action, one for the text books. At the tender age of 24 he already has achieved so much and definitely has at least 10 years of international cricket left in him.:inzi2

Seriously, its ridiculous to even talk about this 40 year old useless cricketer.

He should be ditched in every format. Not interested in the fact that he can bowl again. We can use some of our batsmen to cover his defensive bowling. We have better batsmen anyway.

Need to move on from him. Hopefully the revolutionary doesn't recall him for LO.

pakistan should send a younger side in zibabwe.

Imad should lead the side and some mix of under 19's and some A team boys should get a go now

We should capatilize in his bowling once again. He should give him the license to chuck all he wants in crucial matches as long as we get wickets. It should help us win WC19.

Remember how his bowling helped us win CT17?

I don’t think he is coming back. But it is Pakistan - stranger things have happened

No please keep him away. Professor's time is up, he did his part in CT win. Malik should only be the one to play till WC.

Negates the rest of your post.

He would make a great 3/4 for T20 since he’s a great slogger.

But in longer formats, sloggers should play at 6/7.

Don’t you agree?

The next World T20 is in 2020. You want him to play till then? He is already past it and by playing till 2020, he may not even be able to see the ball let alone hit it.

Shadab, Nawaz, Imad should all be in the rotation ahead of Hafeez

then you have all-rounders like Faheem and Talat as well, not to forget Malik

there just isn't room for a 38 year old Hafeez in this young and upcoming team

what happens with Hafeez will say a lot about Inzi

Plus we have Haris to use as a backup spinner.

Very few people can play these kinds of innings in Pakistan.

Very few can average around 30 odd after 200 games in Pakistan too. Very few can have pretty much the worse record away from SC like him too. I think he's like 580 odd out of 600. You seem to love trash players like him butt etc.

Hafeez used to be the #1 All-Rounder in the world prior to his ban. Unfortunately, he lost his form for a while. Now, it looks like he is back.

Exactly, also worth noting that Hafeez was good when he chucking, his bowling seemed to lend confidence to his batting. With one string gone, the other one has never been the same since 2014 when he first got banned IIRC.

POTW nomination right here :)

Ma boi Professor is coming back ! Can't Wait . The ONLY genuine All rounder in the team with nerves of steel !. Can't wait to see him bat at 6 or 7 in LOI and destroy bowling attacks like he did to india in CT !

And the legend all set to return, against the mighty Zimbabwe. Haven’t been this excited about a player making a comeback since Miandad returning in World Cup 96.
