So much being said about him on the media, on our forums etc

Great success in CT17 to back this feeling but as he is now dead cert for Test captaincy, will he be able to take the pressure? Will jealousy amongst players etc rear its ugly head as they see Sarfraz succeed?

No he's too good. Firm action should be taken against any player who tries to rebel. No more of that ugliness is required

PCB removed sarfraz from test vice captaincy to select azhar ali, which means for PCB sarfraz was never a choice, PCB restored azhar ali in ODIs just to retain him captain and than was abrubtly dropped than selected again

sarfraz as i say else where was an accidental captain, pakistan was on the verge of being kicked out from world cup and champions trophy so PCB had to do some damage control, so sarfraz based on his PSL success was chosen

but i still remember PCB did a campaign to defame sarfraz through some pakistan commentators in westindies series, i believe it was a planned campaign against sarfraz

and than on the eve of champions trophy PCB started airing news that sarfraz was no longer automatic choice from the tests

PCB has been scheming and planning to remove sarfraz but it is unable to do so, and i believe azhar ali recall in champs trophy was just to replace sarfraz in case sarfraz didnt perform well

so yeah Sarfraz is not the favorite of PCB, and PCB is looking at every window/opportunity to replace sarfraz as captain and install its puppet.

azhar ali was the choice in tests but sadly PCB cant afford ranking slump from 6th to further down when srilanka test series in looming as well.

Great post!

But fortunately Sarfraz has the backing of selfless team players like Azhar and youngsters so I dont think anything will happen to his captaincy soon.

Apart from 1-2 individuals I back my team and the young players and hope nothing ugly will happen..

Pakistan has suffered a lot due to infighting , grouping in the past but I believe this current crop of selfless team players like Sarfraz , Azhar and youngsters will take our team forward in the next 5-6 years. Exciting times ahead.

My only concern is that a lot happening too fast for Sarfraz. And lots of these journo types hanging around him who he can do without.

Needs a good mentor to help him through the softer skills etc. Of course too much to ask for PCB to spot this as an issue

Sarf is well grounded, he looks like a simple guy at heart and will have the same personality, lifestyle regardless of whether he has $100 or $10 million in the bank.

He doesn't seem the type who will let the pressure get to him as a captain, it was remarkable how calm and collected Pakistan were after the initial loss to India.

The only way he can crack under pressure is if the PCB does not deal with him properly.

From Sarfraz's demeanor he does not seem like a yes man and PCB will eventually have issues with him I feel, if they did not prior to the Champions Trophy. I hope Sarfraz just sticks to his guns and takes decisions in the best interest of Pakistan cricket. He will at times have to be diplomatic but hopefully he can communicate well with PCB to ensure they can work together.

Yes quite likely. We have seen some really good one's just crumbling under pressure. While it's good to enjoy the recent success and should be enjoyed thoroughly but Pakistan cricket quickly needs to come back to the reality and address the shortcomings which were in plenty just 3 weeks back. So more hard work is advised. Expectations have to get normal and reasonable. Pakistan should use the recent success as a catalyst for greater upsurge in future.

The pressure has already come and gone. Its peanuts from here until 2019.

I'm not worried about the pressure as this guy is mentally very tough.

What concerns me is his closeness to some mediawalas.

Almost after every presser he would go and hug and shake the hand of some very dodgy and anti-Pakistan cricket media guys at the Champions Trophy.

He needs to steer clear of such people.
