I doubt it. Else Uncle Sam will be unhappy with Uncle Tom.

Muslim group calls for preacher linked to Trump to be denied UK visa

Franklin Graham, who has called Islam ‘evil’, is due to speak at a festival in Blackpool

Britain’s leading Muslim organisation has called on the Home Office to refuse a UK visa to a prominent US evangelical preacher with links to Donald Trump and a track record of Islamophobic and homophobic statements.

Franklin Graham, the son of the evangelist Billy Graham, has been invited to preach at a Christian festival in Blackpool this month.

The preacher, who said Trump’s election victory was evidence that “God’s hand” was at work, has called Islam “evil” and “wicked”, claimed Barack Obama’s “problem is that he was born a Muslim” and said Satan was the architect of same-sex marriage and LGBT rights.

The Muslim Council of Britain has joined three MPs, including a government whip, in demanding the Home Office apply its criteria on hate speech to Graham’s visa request.

The MCB said: “In the past the government has banned individuals whom they claim are ‘not conducive to the public good’. Mr Graham’s remarks are on record and clearly demonstrate a hatred for Muslims and other minorities.

“We would expect the government to apply its criteria here. If it does not, it will send a clear message that it is not consistent in challenging all forms of bigotry.”

Fiyaz Mughal, the founder of Tell Mama, which monitors Islamophobia in the UK, said it was shocking that Graham was being given a platform. His views were “regressive and need to be challenged,” he said.

Gordon Marsden, the Labour MP for Blackpool South, said he would write to Sajid Javid, the home secretary, this week to call for Graham to be denied a visa.

“It’s perfectly possible for the government not to admit someone whose presence is not conducive to the public good,” he said. “Graham’s visit to Blackpool is likely to cause considerable offence.”

How come you’ve performed takfir on poor Javid? Has he actually come out and said he’s no longer a believer? (As opposed to just saying he isn’t a practicing Muslim).

He regularly refers to himself as a Muslim in various speeches and interviews.

is there a difference? What is a 'non practicing Muslim'? One who doesn't believe in God/Allah, or The Prophet, or ....?

Being a politician, and by using the phrase 'he isn't a practicing Muslim', he's trying to hedge his bets by still 'being a Muslim' to the Muslim community, and being a 'former Muslim' to the non-Muslim community.

Only when it suits him. Otherwise the 'non-practicing' element comes to the fore in order to distance himself from Muslims.

I will also sign a petition banning this loon from entry into our country.

Start a petition Yosser. I'll sign it.

As we know gents, this Tory govt. doesn't pay much heed to petitions. Better to write to our democratically elected Members of Parliament expressing our views on the topic. May not help much, but at least they'll know what their constituents think.

Why give the guy so much importance? Let him come and speak his mind. If its hate speech arrest him according to the laws. Thats how these loonies should be discredited and dealt with.

If he is banned due to muslim protests it will only fan islamophobia.

It's pretty obvious what a nonpracticing muslim is isn't it? Surely if one accepts the shahada then irrespective of what they may or may not do in life then they are still a Muslim (assuming they don't partake in shirk).

There are loads of people around who don't carry out their obligated prayers, fast for ramadan, give their zakat, go to hajj etc and partake in lots of haram activities yet still refer to themselves as muslims - I'm sure there are plenty on this forum too. Would you consider these people nonpracticing muslims or simply non muslims/ex muslims?

The UK has (and rightly so) started to ban hate mongers and hate preachers. Just as I want Muslim hate preachers to be banned from entering the UK and spreading their hate, by the similar token I also want hate preachers of other varieties to also be banned and prevented from spreading their hate.

This guy is an ex muslim as in doesn't believe in Islam, he just brands himself as a Muslim to get the Muslim vote and be used a token for diversity.

From the post #5 above,

I've seen him giving interviews on tv, or speaking in the House of Commons, numerous times. He is the epitome of an Uncle T.

Javid is about as far from a Muslim as anyone could get.

Javid himself is not religious[125], whilst his wife is a practising Christian. [126] In describing his background he said:

“My own family's heritage is Muslim. Myself and my four brothers were brought up to believe in God, but I do not practise any religion. My wife is a practising Christian and the only religion practised in my house is Christianity."
