It seems like no one wants to talk about this topic but writing is on the wall that Najam Sethi Days are numbered. Ehsan Mani and Majid Khan are the strong contender for the PCB Chairman post. However, it seems like Javed Miandad is also working on his PR to get the position.

Depends who comes into power. Majid if his cousin assumes power.

I personally think Majid Khan is too old for the position, Bazid Khan would be ideal candidate but there will be lot of pressure from Media therefore Imran khan would choose none of them and he will go with Ehsan Mani.

Will the PCB be restructed if there is a government change in Pakistan?

With the unfolding of recent events within the Pakistan political spectrum, I was thinking what would happen to the current PCB management (which in all fairness has done a decentish job).

Will they be removed from office? Or do you think in the light of their performance so far, they should be allowed to continue?

Instead of beating around the bush, lets name names. PTI and Imran Khan are expected to win elections, even journalists in Nawaz's pocket are predicting this now. IK has time and again said that PCB (and other sports boards in the country) are running on ad hoc basis and the chairman is changed as per the whims of the politicians. He has always wanted to restructure these sports boards so that they run independently. Therefore imo either Sethi will automatically resign or will be asked to hand over his resignation. The PCB will then be restructured to have regular elections and chairman elected from within itself. Better days are finally here.

If Imran Khan comes to power then he will almost certainly sack Najam Sethi and replace him with Abdul Qadir.

I would officially stop supporting Pakistan cricket if any of the following personnel, even in the slightest, make it to any sort of adminstrative position.

1) Abdul Qadir
2) Sarfaraz Nawaz
3) Muhammad Yousuf
4) Sikandar Bakht
5) Shoaib Akhtar
6) Faisal Iqbal
7) Javed Miandad
8) Moin Khan
9) Rashid Latif
10) Abdul Razzak

It will be sad on Najam Sethis part as he has done a fabulous job as chairman. Abdul Qadir is a less calm person and will find it hard to manage affairs Imo.

Abdul Qadir is a racist and does not have the necessary brain cells to handle any sort of position. In plain and simple language HE IS AN IDIOT!

N Sethi hasn’t done bad job at all considering the circumstances and the state pcb was in.
I would keep him on and train someone else under his wings.
Don’t forget the court case coming up later this year he is the right man for the job for now.

You can keep supporting as none of them is gonna come near any executive level position.

From the outside looks like Sethi is doing a fantastic job. Will be harsh if he is sacked. Maybe Imran should use him in some capacity in PCB if he becomes PM, a great leader should look beyond political interests when nation's interests are concerned.

we want sethi for atleast two to three more years. once cricket is properly back in pakistan then he can leave with full diginity and respect

Would be harsh on Sethi if he is removed, but I don't think Imran can forget the "35 puncture" ordeal

Najam will likely resign unless Imran Khan wants him to stay. I think so far there running okay. Much better than they were in the past.

Can tell you one thing: Sethi will run away.

Even though Sethi has done well, IK and Sethi do not see eye to eye. Sethi could complete his term as IK does not want to interfere, but I doubt that Sethi will stay as accountability will become a big thing.

IK loves cricket too much to not do anything about it at all which will force Sethi to consider his stay.

Oh Please. Sethi has been the best PCB Chairman we have had in history, he needs to be in charge of the PCB for the next 10 years minimum atleast. I will start an online petition if efforts are made to remove him.

Will be sad to see Sethi leave, he has done a great job with Pakistan cricket, especially the PSL

Sethi doesn't need to be chairman. He can continue working with PCB in another capacity. Biggest task in next 5 years is bringing regular cricket back to Pakistan. Someone like Ehsan Mani who worked at ICC and has connections around the world can help make that happen. Sethi has laid a good platform and his work on PSL has been solid. But now we need someone with diplomatic and foreign ties to help restore regular international cricket to Pakistan, and I think Mani is the man for the job

PTI To Regularise Sports At All Levels : Fawad Chaudhary

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th Jul, 2018 ) : PTI spokesman Fawad Chaudhry has said that the party will take drastic measures to bring reforms and improvement of sports benchmarks in the country.

Talking to a private news channel, he said that the party will take drastic measures to bring reforms and improvement of sports benchmarks in the country.

"PTI's agenda of transforming sports is driven out of our policy of professionalism and merit. Reforms into less productive or outdated structures could not bring desired fruits if administrative structures like PCB, PHF, PFF etc are not transformed," he said.

"Appointments of professional players blessed with both vision and expertise as heads of sports bodies would be the fundamental element of our reforms in sports which would be complemented with enhanced resource allocation and provision of opportunities," Fawad said.

He added that PTI, as a political party, has an exclusive vision and plan to transform sports structures in the country to tap untouched potential.

Fawad further said that under the agenda of human development, PTI is determined to invest in sports along with health and education to enhance prospects of development and employment for youth that covers an overwhelming chunk of our national population.

Replying to a question about sports budget, the PTI leader said that it needs careful consideration in order to account for cost-effectiveness.

"We would certainly be doing that and maintain an active link between budgetary demands and outcomes. Reducing administrative costs and enhancing production is key to our budgeting policy and we will employ this in sports as well."The PTI official also promised that their policy will not be cricket-centric and added that they will work to revive the lost glory of pakistan in squash and hockey.

"We think restoration of hockey is the most viable option. Tennis, wrestling and boxing also have potential. So we will adopt a holistic approach and develop maximum in terms of quality players and games," the PTI leader promised.

After election under a new set up, any chance for Sharjeel Khan?

Sherjeel was ousted but nothing concrete was proven. Something somewhere was more than what met the eyes. So under a new set up does Sherjeel Khan has a chance to make his comeback under a new investigation or make a comeback once he finishes the ban period. What do y'all think?

Im a definite PTI voter but IK and current cricket do not gel. Remember when he was advocating Useless khan to be playing ODI’s and the whole PSL final (racism). Sethi has made some bad mistakes esp giving Geo Sports seveal questionable tenders but he has defined been the beat chairman in the last 20 odd years. No way sethi stays with IK at the helm the danger is someone who knew abt cricket 26 years ago and has been dealing with bigger issues may think Maindad or Abdul Qadir as ex cricketers would be good for the PCB even though we all know how toxic they would be

There will definitely be changes for sure. Nawaz Sharif's friends will be asked to leave now that PTI are on the brink of winning. It also has to be said that IK's views on Cricket seem to be stuck when he was playing.

That seems to be an issue. IK has admitted to pretty much leaving cricket behind after retiring.

Radical reforms like a Sheffield shield style system of minimal first class teams are thrilling. Whether it’s the right one, I’m not in a position to know. There are still too many teams.

Now that Imran Khan is going to be prime minister

Hello guys just a thought, now that Imran Khan has become prime minister, do you think they will be a completely change to our domestic structure and if there is to be changes how long before they are bought in?

Comments .....

Imran Khan’s idea for restructuring the domestic first-class structure seems promising. For decades, the Pakistani first-class structure has lacked competitiveness and quality and this could be one idea that PCB hasn’t properly adopted yet.

Also, even if Sethi is removed, which he inevitably will be. I just hope Imran doesn’t bring in someone like Qadir or Miandad who have failed in their previous tenures with the PCB.

I'd suggest that he should just focus on politics since cricket has moved on since the 1980's, he did mention strengthening the cricket culture in the Pashtun areas of Pak but will he give any attention to Punjab? That's my main concern since our best players have been from Punjab.

Why just Punjab. Maybe "Best Players" are from punjab because they get most chances, better facilities?
You never know, if given the oppurtunity, we may unearth gems from Baluchistan.

Couple of things to ponder....

Imran Khan when he became captain, sacked his cousin (don't remember whether Bari or Majid Khan) on performance.

Sethi even though he has done a decent job with PCB of late, is a political animal aligned to NS. He was made caretaker PM before 2013 and was accused of facilitating massive rigging in Punjab. I am pretty sure IK has not forgottent about that :)

I don’t think Imran will remove Sethi if Sethi is doing a good job. Imran is not going to take any revenge by sacking him, he stands above these things.

But he will have a close look at the high expenditures in the Board and many people who are doing nothing will face the axe.

And finally the domestic cricket needs to revamped.

The reason why I say Punjab is because we produce the best players who are excellent fast bowlers, good batsmen and good fielders. Without any players from that region our cricket would go down the gutter.

Make NAB an independent body above of any influence.

Make PCB an independent body above of any influence which hire people on merit and performance.

Then Sethi or no Sethi, PCB will rise.

Goodbye departmental cricket ?

Cricket probably won't be high up on his agenda nor should it be - the economy and human development has to take priority.

You completely missed his point...

You completely missed his point...

Yeah I understand that other regions need excellent facilities so that they can produce good cricketers but the thing is that we haven't done much when it comes to investing in these regions. Someone on PP told me once that only 4 cricketers from Balochistan have represented Pak. It would be nice to see cricketers from other regions though.

Spoke with a few guys today who reckon Ehsan Mani and Arif Abbasi might be in the running as next PCB Chairman.

Now the question is whether Najam Sethi will resigned or get sacked... I think he will get sacked so he can claim severance package.

Will cricket come back to Pakistan quickly now?

Election results are quite motivating for Pakistan cricket fans at least. As what IK vision was, if he even realizes 50% of it, we can become cricketing super power. I have heard his many speeches and statements and his focus was primarily on improving cricket infrastructure. And now he is in power, he can do what he wants to do in the below areas:

1) Cricket infrastructure and better facilities
2) Teams will come to play in Pakistan, PM being former world champion is more than enough for many foreign players to get convinced
3) As he has done, he is keen on promoting youngsters which will be good.

Hopefully. However lohare is considered fine, but countries do not want to tour karachi at all.
Im not sure thrs a problem for touring teams in faisalabad.

Pakistan will only get cricket back, if we can find 5 suitable cities

Wouldn't mind Ehsan Mani as chairman. His international links could actually be useful for Pakistan

Young cricketers expect Imran to deliver on promises

With Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan all set to become the first sportsman ever to be elected as the prime minister of a country, Pakistan’s athletes have huge expectations from their leader.

Imran Khan’s PTI won the most number of seats in the center and is hot favorites to form Pakistan’s next Federal Governmen The ex-cricketer has always laid emphasis on the decline of sports in Pakistan and promised on various occasions that if he ever comes into power, his team will do the best it can to revolutionize sports in the country.

Pakistan’s young cricketers are really hopeful that during the tenure of the 65-year-old, cricket will flourish both at a national and international level. According to some young sportsmen, they voted for Khan’s PTI only because they wanted to see an improvement in the sports department overall.

Talking to media, a young cricketer said, “Obviously we have high expectations from him because he himself has been a great sportsman. He understands the game of cricket well and we expect that he understands the financial needs of upcoming cricketers better than anyone else. Hopefully he will do his best to improve the financial situation of the sport.”

“Firstly, the new chairman of PCB should be a sportsman because we want someone to lead the board who understands the game from a professional level. Previous chairmen have never paid attention to the players’ problems especially at the club and zonal levels,” the young cricketer said.

“We expect such problems to be addressed once Imran comes into power,” said another young cricketer. Other players further elaborated, “Imran Khan has always talked about merit based selection in his speeches and frankly he did the same during his captaining days. We expect him to do the same with respect to Cricket once he becomes PM”.

“The biggest problem with every sport is corruption. I expect Khan to set positive precedents and punish all such cricketers that taint the image of Pakistan by doing corruption.”

PCB Regional Presidents Meet PTI Chief

ISLAMABAD, Aug 6 (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 6th Aug, 2018 ) :A delegation comprised of elected regional presidents of pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Monday met with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan and discussed the current situation of the board.

I truly hope he follows through with this. It's been the right decision for years.

What has Ehsan Mani done to be considered worthy of a slot, other hold a ceremonial position as icc head when the slot was considered largely useless.

Imran Khan needs to let Sethi do his job.

Atleast there is no monopoly of seniors in the team and youngsters are given opportunity.
