Ever since Pakistan caught that Iaf soldier, people are now tuning into news more and interested in the developments that are taking place regarding the battles being fought on LOC and what discussions are taking place.

Even on the forum currently i saw that there are more people viewing timepass than the cricket forum which never happens.

WIll PSL have drop in rating this year?

PSL is doing fine at the moment and will get re-energised if 90 % foreign signed players come to Pakistan and Pakistan leg of PSL takes place.

I hope India gives positive gesture to Imran Khan's offer for dialogue and peace and soon things normalise.

If PSL matches do not take place in Pakistan or majority foreign players do not visit Pakistan due to threat of War than it would be a massive blow to PSL because currently I just see current matches of PSL as a Build Up and real PSL begins with jam packed stadiums and TRP will shoot than.

PSL viewership has definitely suffered in last 2-3 days but expect it to improve once again tonight with Taakra of Lahore vs Karachi.

Not really, it is possible to watch both side by side. If your watching the news on tv, you can watch the PSL games on your cell phone and vice versa. In fact the PSL has provided people with an amazing distraction from this Indo - Pak Crisis and India in desperation used every trick in the book to escalate things

The only thing which is killing PSL at the moment is pathetic pitches

Yes. I didn't watch few matches because i was more focused on the news.

Not sure where this talk of PSL taking a hit is coming from. All the news channels are discussing the PSL side by side with the Pak India situation.

In fact Wasim Badami lol is hosting a big show where he invites Karachi cricketers, politicians and media analysts so that he can discuss all the issues simultaneously

Personally i wasn't interested in the PSL after the pak indo conflict that's going on. So once this eases, most people will start watching psl again

To be honest PSL quality is very poor regardless the current political situation. Here are following reasons:::

1. lack of quality of foreign players.
2. Many old local and foreign players with poor performances
3. Not a single new young emerging batsman unearthed (Even though their numbers is very low as well) while 65% of matches being played.
4. Not a single young spinner given chances.
5. Pitch quality is very low.
6. Franchises keep playing same squad even after same players are failure matches after matches. Ex. Kamran Akmal.
7. Local batsmen are batting very low to face few balls while foreigners are taking the spotlight from locals.

Only positive signs are some quality fast bowlers coming up H Rauf, Hasnain, Musa, S Gul, Illyas so far.

I am currently working with world's biggest media agency. Just had a talk with their research guy, ratings have actually increased YOY. He told me that ratings keep on increasing every year since PSL 1. So, rest easy. If you still want, i can get proof posted from the Kantar Rating System!

Well, at a personal level, yes, I was least bothered about the PSL the last three days or say. A lot was at stake you know, despite the fact that PSL is one cricket tournament that I look forward to eagerly every year. However, that doesn´t mean that I didn´t watch the recent matches. I did, every match, but the mind wasn´t just there as in every break between the overs I´d switch over to the news channels. Would you believe it that I´ve forgotten a couple of times as to who of Karachi and Lahore have won yesterday! Even my recent posts over here weren´t about cricket. So the TV ratings still won´t be effected, but the tension must´ve divided people´s attention. A Karachi-Lahore match is usually a blockbuster match but there was hardly the same buzz about it on Twitter yesterday.

The research guy is based in Pakistan, so he only has access to Pakistan's media rating system which is known as Kantar.

- The market share of Sports genre increased by 21% during PSL matches vs 2018, along with an 8%Increase in UIM (User Viewership in minutes).

- The below is example of the rating & reach:
