Winter break trip to AZERBIJAN-GEORGIA and a 12 hour layover in Warsaw

SO finally decided on my 13 day trip for the winter break with GF and 14 year old son. I am flying NYC to Baku with 12 hours in Warsaw, train from Baku to Tbilisi and then Tbilisi to new York with 12 hours again in Warsaw. Anyone been too these places? Suggestions?? Greatly appreciated. Should we venture out to smaller towns?
