With the draft now done, we know who will represent each PSL franchise.

We know from the first 2 PSLs that good performances can elevate you into the national side. So with that said which players this could year could be called upo the Pakistan set up with a good PSL?

I'll go with Umar Amin, Hussain Talat, Raza Hasan, and Shazbinda Farhan.

How about you guys?

1) Sahibzada Farhan - Amazing Pakistan cup, believe he is quite close to a callup.
2) Raza Hasan - brilliant in QEA, just needs to show his skill on the big stage.
3) Hussain Talat - if he can demonstrate his hitting ability.

Hope Umar Amin will already be in the squad for NZ.

Hussain Talat and Sahibzada Farhan should be opening together for IU. :)

Farhan
Raza
Talat
Hammad

Maybe Shaheen Shah if he does a Shahdab

I think Amin is there regardless and i wont be surprised if Asad Technique starts over him

I think Bilal is there or there abouts as well

You are scaring me, that’s nightmare for Pakistan...Mone of them are international material I would not select them based on PSL.

I hope Shaheen Afridi rises like Hasan in PSL 1 or Shadab in PSL 2... He can take Pakistan’s attack to the next level...I also hope Fahim has great PSL, specially with batting, even before that NZ tour.

We need good batsmen at top, Amin/Farhan/Talat can blossom. Let’s see...

Two players I would really, really be awaiting to watch is Amin & Maqsood. I see first if someone looks like a batsman or not (that's if he can hit the leather piece sweetly and place it more than any thing) - these two gives that impression. May be 3, because I believe LQ has deliberately decided not to pick a WK for a purpose.

It'll be scandalous if QG drops Amin for Asad and PZ bats MoHa at 3/4 ahead of Shakib.

Umar Akmal will keep ? And explain a bit more on Maqsood? I'm not too confident on his chances of making back to the national side.

No chance of top 2, last one I wouldn't rule out.

No. 2 and half of 3 shouldn't happen, if Sarfraz is honest - rest half of 3 is indeed a possibility, because Imad might flop.

No. 1 is at the hands of ICC - hopefully they allow him to chuck, so that PAK Govt. can ask PCB to play him as all-rounder; otherwise he'll play as opener in domestic and make a come back as opener - Azhar will again feel uncomfortable to open in Test, though he'll be doing that in ODI & would have done in T20 as well, had he been picked in PSL. If required, Sethi might even get a call from Pindi GHQ to preserve national treasure.

Haven't seen the recent T20 games - why this guy still is bowling 3/4 overs (and being hammered)?

If he is being hammered it increases his chance of being dropped because he won't be able to hold his place as a a batsmen. If he's banned from bowling, don't see him holding a place in the team for much longer.

he was bowling with one of the cleanest action in national t20.

You see - still you are not confident that he would be dropped after whatever happens.

He can hold a place in Test team if Ul Haq keeps picking Shan & Azhar declines to open - MoHa just need to fail a fitness test for 2 Tests in May-June; after that ZIM & a long home season in UAE. PAK might tour SRL as well or BD might play Test against PAK (in UAE/PAK) - so, endless opportunity to prove worth till 2023 ...... Also, if even banned, I believe he'll come back after ban as bowler, because chucking isn't natural to him like Ajmal or Murali (ok, bent arm) - this guy chucks deliberately when needs to bowl better. He'll do it again - that's pass the test with round arm action and then go back to darting selectively. He has done this twice already.

Umar's best chance to make the squad (PAK) is as back-up WK, because PAK's reserve WK would struggle to bat at No. 7/8. Sarfraz being Captain, unfit (& over aged for such work load), at some point will need rest at least from keeping, to play as specialist bat/captain - in that case PAK must have to have a back-up WK, who can make the team as batsman. I am sure, this calculation is done at LQ end as well, otherwise they won't have gone with a squad without any regular WK and remember, they had all but one 1st pick in every draft round. Personally, I don't think if he is fit, it'll take much effort to match Sarfraz as WK; to be honest - against spin, right now I am not sure who is better!!!

Maqsood is the cleanest hitter of the game, not only in PAK. I saw him reaching extra cover crowd with a checked drive - that's 85 metres from a top hand flick - you have to go long, long, long back to see such things from a certain West Indian (And, couple from PAK as well).

When you have such players, you have to be ready to accept that most times he'll get out to loose shots, but few times he'll win matches from hopeless situation and set many wins from 50-50 situations. Last night that 80, few years back he made a 123 of 71 or so to knock Punjab out of PAK cup defending 310+ in 41 overs to qualify, another time, he and Fawad scored 170 in 16 overs to chase an asking of ~10, for a distance of 200+ runs against SRL ........ these are not miracles, these are indicative of the capability. But, such players need backing for their aggression - unfortunately for last few years PAK's style had been to praise players for making it difficult to get him out, rather than scoring runs - it's like LBW without offering is better than hold out at long on .... in T20 - so Asad, Azhar & Ahmed played lot more matches than SM.

I wish Multan plays him at 2 or 3 in PSL and give him a full run of 10 matches - Moody is there & I have lots of respect for him. It might happen this time.

Amin, Babar, Maqsood, Sarfraz, Malik, ****, Shadab, Fahim, Amir, Hasan, ***

That's a great T20 side, on potential (Apart from No. 4 :( )

I am confident that if he plays overseas he will be exposed and he will be dropped eventually.

Can't afford for him to be caught chucking again. It's embarrassing

Yes I know we need a back up keeper . But don't think Umar is the answer. His fitness is poor as well and he has struggled when keeping versus spin. He should have concentrated a lot more on his keeping when he was made keeper for us before the WC but he wasted that opportunity. It looks like he will be keeping for LQ so he needs to impress.

Maqsood has the shot range and power but he throws his wicket away far too often. We played him as a late order slogger which was the wrong thing to do. But now he's 30, don't see him changing too much. Obviously opening slot is open for Pakistan in LO, so a good PSL could give him a chance. But doubt he will be opening for MS. Think he may come in at 6 or not play at all.

Sahibzada Farhan obvious choice, as we need an opener to replace Shehzad.
Alternatively anyone who opener that scores more than him will have a good chance of being selected

I believe all those players you have mentioned on the list are definitely close to Pakistan call up sooner rather than later. I personally would like to see Saif Badar in the team, but I think he needs a very good domestic season under his belt and PSL 3, but with the PSL it depends if he will play or not. Another player I would like to see in the team is Asif Ali of Islamabad United, he's an aggressive opener who is currently doing well in the domestic T20 right now.

Farhan,Talat and hopefully Badar.

Shaheen Shah Afridi is not ready, I watched his stint in the last U19 match and he is medicore.

Agree, his hype is far bigger than his actual talent. Watched him bowl in u19 Asia cup final against Afghanistan and he looked very average bowler. But being a LQ fan i want him to do good this PSL and make into the national team :)

Opener spot is key with Shehzad failing. Ideally Sahibzada Farhan will perform and take this spot in T20Is atleast and in the future if he continues to perform it may mean he is included in one day Squad aswell.

I’m hoping Mohammad Asghar gets a go, he has performed well in both PSL editions so far. There is a definite need for a good spinner as Imad is not that effective against all the big teams. Raza Hassan the other obvious choice.

Also it’s an opportunity to see more of Fahim Ashraf and to realise if he isn’t the real deal or not. If he isn’t we will need to search for another bowling all rounder (Sohail Akhtar and Hammad Azam both great options, though Hammad may have limited opportunities)

As for Shaheen Shah Afridi, Hussain Talat, Usama Mir and a few others. No doubt I will be interested in their performances, but given our current squad I doubt we have that many gaps that can be filled. So these guys should look to perform with the long term in mind

All of them.

There's no player I can think off who won't be called up no matter how well he does in PSL.
