In the Indian city of Indore, a group of women held a rally advocating for the slogan "Clean-Shaven Boyfriend."

Videos that have gone viral on social media show women holding placards and banners that read, “If you want to save love, get a clean shave.”

Another banner declared that a boyfriend should not just be educated or handsome, but must be clean-shaven.

These videos have sparked a new debate among social media users, with some voicing objections while others defended the rally.

Some users noted that everyone has the freedom to choose their life partner or beloved, and personal preferences vary. No one has the right to impose their choices on others.

It remains unclear who sponsored this rally and why such an inappropriate and unnecessary campaign was needed.

Wasn't clean shaven an acceptable or established standard from 20 years ago? these days facial hair for men is in and very few males are clean shaven.

Looks like these women have lot of time on their hands. Attention seekers. From my experience, women love men with nice trimmed beards.

It's India, there's probably more of a stigma towards facial hair among modern women as their holy figures tended to endorse facial hair. Yogis, gurus, maulvis etc all tend to favour it.

No, I don't think that's the case.

Most of the Hindu Gods are all clean shaven. (y)

Yes at least in India that was the case. In my college life, I was always clean shaven...sometimes even used ulta razes to trim minutely. Then used to apply fitkari (desi after shave) :uak

I think the beard trend was started by Virat Kohli in 2016 when he started sporting that look. This was then copied by all Bollywood stars as well as cricketers.

Also, spotting a beard is easy...just need to trim and shape occasionally. Maintaining clean shave is tough.

It would make more sense for these ladies to speak to their boyfriends directly than to cause such a scene in public.

It was the case everywhere. When growing up in Pakistan, I rarely saw younger men sporting beards. Maybe a stand alone moustache but never a full beard or a goatee.

I think it changed a lot earlier around the world than 2016, and I am also sure you cannot credit Kohli with that trend, maybe in India sure, but not around the world.
I want to say when the movie 300 came out, a lot of people in the US at least seemed to become obsessed with that Gerard Butler look. I saw a lot of people starting to grow similar style of short on the sides and long around the chin.

I believe that was around 2005 or 2006.

They are also blue and some have elephant heads. I think he was meaning human religious figures and not their gods.
They may be blue or black or white. But they are clean shaven except for Brahma who is depicted with a beard among main Gods.

The problem you have with these freshies is that they have outdated fashion sense.

Clean shave is so 90s/2000s but in this part of the world you have to fast forward 20 years before they pick up on this trend.

It completely went over my head.
If you have a look at the video, it's obvious. There's a bunch of clues - maybe 20 girls pretending to protest, venue looks like a college campus, couple of teen guys overacting pretending to be surprised, video being shot on a cell phone because no media was present etc.

Give it a couple of days and the gimmick will be revealed. By that time, the news cycle will have moved on and outrage specialists like @sweep_shot will find the next 'radical feminist' thing to be outraged by.

Agree.

Clean shave is feminine to me. I think facial hair is one of the things that separates a man from a woman.

Having facial hair also has health benefits. Check below:

The health benefits of beards

Beards can:

  • Protect skin from sun damage. Beards can help protect the skin from harmful UV rays, though the degree of protection may depend on hair density and thickness. “You’re going to have some protection because hair is a reflective medium,” Dr. Harvey says. “Even though some UV rays get through, there is some scattering of light and that’s how it helps protect against sun damage.”
  • Keep you warm. Beards can add a layer of protection to your chin and neck, thus keeping you warm in colder weather. The longer and fuller the beard, the better it will insulate your face.
  • Make you feel more attractive. A study conducted by the Official Journal of the Human Behavior and Evolution Society found that men with moderately full beards are found most attractive, and men with full beards may be perceived as better fathers who could protect and invest in their children. “Men with beards have a powerful look,” Dr. Harvey says. “And that’s an attractive thing.”

Instagram stunt may be? Anything for clicks. (y)

Beards are essential for guys in northern pole. They can't survive without it. On a lighter note, I guess any such movement there will result in thrashing of individuals behind it

8 Amazing Benefits of Having a Beard

Beards have been a popular trend among men for centuries, but recent studies have shown that sporting a beard has benefits that go beyond just fashion. Having a beard can enhance your appearance, boost your confidence, and even have some health benefits. From protecting your skin to providing natural insulation, there are many reasons to grow a beard.
In this article, we'll explore some of the amazing benefits of having a beard, both in terms of appearance and health. Whether you're already sporting a beard or considering growing one, you're sure to be amazed by the many advantages of this timeless style. So, let's dive in and discover the fascinating world of beards!

1. Provides UV Protection and Shields Against Skin Damage
Keeping a beard can provide multiple benefits in terms of skin protection compared to being clean-shaven. Firstly, the hair in a beard acts as a natural barrier against harmful UV rays, which can cause skin damage and increase the risk of skin cancer. A beard can block up to 95% of UV rays, making it an effective way to protect the skin. In contrast, clean-shaven individuals have a higher risk of sunburn and skin damage from prolonged sun exposure.

The hair in a beard can also absorb pollutants and toxins from the environment, such as car exhaust fumes and industrial smoke. This helps to prevent these pollutants from coming into contact with the skin and causing damage or premature aging. Clean-shaven individuals are more vulnerable to these pollutants, as their skin is directly exposed to the environment.

Furthermore, the hair in a beard can act as a natural moisturizer, helping to prevent dry skin and irritation. This is especially important during cold or dry weather when the skin can become dehydrated and prone to cracking or flaking. Clean-shaven individuals may experience more dryness and irritation, as their skin is more exposed to the elements.
It is imperative to highlight here, that there are other ways to protect the skin, such as wearing sunscreen or using skincare products, but having a beard can be a natural and effective way to protect and care for the skin.

2. Provides Warmth To The Face During Winters
Keeping a beard can help to keep the face warm during cold winters in several ways. The hair in a beard can act as a natural insulator, trapping heat close to the skin and keeping the face warm. This can be especially beneficial for people who spend extended periods of time outdoors during cold weather.

Beard can help to protect the skin from harsh winds, which can cause dryness, redness, and chapping. The hair in a beard can act as a buffer against the wind, reducing its impact on the skin and preventing moisture loss. In contrast, clean-shaven individuals are more susceptible to windburn and skin irritation.

Additionally, a beard can help to prevent heat loss from the face, which is a common problem during cold weather. Heat loss from the face can cause discomfort and even hypothermia in extreme conditions. The hair in a beard can help to trap heat close to the skin, reducing heat loss and keeping the face warm.

3. Alleviates Skin Irritation
Keeping a beard can help to prevent skin irritation and skin problems that are common among clean-shaven individuals in several ways.

Firstly, shaving can cause micro-cuts and razor burns, which can lead to skin irritation and inflammation. By keeping a beard, individuals can avoid these issues altogether and prevent irritation.

Secondly, shaving can strip the skin of its natural oils, leading to dryness and flakiness. This can cause discomfort and even
skin problems such as eczema and psoriasis. By keeping a beard, individuals can retain their skin's natural oils, which can help to prevent dryness and maintain healthy skin.

Furthermore, shaving can cause ingrown hair, which can be painful and unsightly. Ingrown hairs occur when hair grows back into the skin instead of outwards, causing inflammation and sometimes infection. By keeping a beard, individuals can avoid the risk of ingrown hair altogether, as the hair is allowed to grow naturally without being cut.

In addition, shaving can cause acne and breakouts, as the razor can spread bacteria and irritate the skin. By keeping a beard, individuals can avoid this risk as well, as the hair can act as a barrier against bacteria and prevent them from coming into contact with the skin.

Keeping a beard can be an effective way to prevent skin irritation and skin problems that are common among clean-shaven individuals. By avoiding shaving, individuals can prevent micro-cuts, razor burns, dryness, ingrown hair, and acne. This can lead to healthier, more comfortable skin in the long run.

4. Prevents Allergies and Asthma Symptoms

Keeping a beard can help to reduce allergies and asthma symptoms by acting as a natural filter for allergens and irritants in the air. Allergens such as pollen, dust, and pet dander can easily become trapped in facial hair, preventing them from entering the nose and lungs.

Research has shown that facial hair can significantly reduce the amount of pollen and other allergens that enter the respiratory system. A study published in the International Archives of Allergy and Immunology found that mustaches and beards can trap a significant amount of pollen, reducing the amount that enters the nasal cavity by up to 50%.

Facial hair can also help to filter out irritants such as smoke, dust, and pollutants, which can trigger asthma symptoms. This is especially important for individuals with asthma, as exposure to these irritants can cause inflammation and airway constriction.

Some studies have suggested that the presence of facial hair may actually help to boost the immune system. A study published in the Journal of Hospital Infection found that beards can harbor beneficial bacteria, which may help to strengthen the body's defenses against harmful pathogens.

5. Maintains Moisture Of Your Skin
A beard can help to keep the skin moisturized by trapping natural oils and preventing moisture loss. The sebaceous glands in the skin produce sebum, a natural oil that helps to keep the skin moisturized and healthy. When an individual shaves regularly, they remove a layer of sebum along with the hair, which can lead to dryness and irritation.

In contrast, when an individual keeps a beard, facial hair acts as a barrier that traps the natural oils produced by the sebaceous glands. This helps to prevent moisture loss and keeps the skin moisturized. The hair in the beard also helps to protect the skin from environmental factors that can cause dryness, such as wind and sun exposure.

Maintaining a clean and well-groomed beard can help to promote healthy skin by preventing the buildup of dirt, bacteria, and dead skin cells. Regularly washing and conditioning the beard can help to keep it soft and hydrated, which can also benefit the underlying skin.

6. Makes You Look More Masculine
The perception that a beard makes an individual look more masculine and gives off a warrior vibe is largely based on cultural and societal norms. Historically, facial hair has been associated with masculinity, strength, and power in many cultures. For example, in ancient Greece, beards were a sign of wisdom and virility, while in ancient Rome, beards were worn by warriors and were seen as a symbol of courage and honor.

In modern times, beards continue to be associated with masculinity and strength, with many individuals perceiving them as a sign of ruggedness and toughness. This perception may be influenced by media portrayals of bearded characters in popular cultures, such as action heroes and warriors.

Furthermore, a well-groomed and styled beard can enhance facial features and create a more defined and chiseled look, which can contribute to a more masculine appearance. This may be because a beard can help to emphasize the jawline and create a more angular facial structure.

7. Hides Facial Imperfections
Keeping a beard can help to hide facial imperfections and problems by providing coverage and distraction. For example, an individual with acne or scars on their face may feel self-conscious about their appearance, but a well-groomed beard can help to conceal these imperfections and draw attention away from them.

A beard can help to create a more balanced and symmetrical facial appearance by adding volume and definition to the jawline and cheekbones. This can be particularly beneficial for individuals with a weaker jawline or a less defined facial structure.

Moreover, a beard can also help to hide skin conditions such as rosacea or eczema by providing a barrier between the skin and external irritants. This can prevent further irritation and redness, which can make the condition more noticeable.
However, it's important to note that keeping a beard does not necessarily solve underlying skin problems. Individuals should still practice good skincare habits and seek medical treatment if necessary.

8. Low Maintenance
Keeping a beard can be low maintenance compared to shaving every day because it requires less time, effort, and products. When an individual shaves every day, they need to use a razor, shaving cream, and aftershave lotion, which can be time-consuming and costly in the long run. On the other hand, maintaining a beard requires relatively fewer products and less frequent maintenance.

To keep a beard well-groomed, an individual typically needs a few basic products, such as a beard trimmer, beard comb or brush, and beard oil or beard balm. These products are used to shape and maintain the beard, prevent tangles, and keep the hair and skin moisturized. In addition, regular washing and conditioning of the beard can also help to keep it clean and healthy.

In contrast, being clean-shaven requires a more frequent and regular routine of shaving, which can be time-consuming and may require more products. Shaving every day can also cause skin irritation and damage, especially if the individual has sensitive skin or is prone to razor burn.

Keeping a beard can be a low-maintenance option compared to shaving every day. While a well-maintained beard still requires some upkeep, it typically requires fewer products and less frequent maintenance than a clean-shaven appearance. This can save time and effort in the long run, while also providing the additional benefits of a well-groomed and styled beard.

What on earth is happening here? Why is google denying me such entertaining content?

Some users noted that everyone has the freedom to choose their life partner or beloved, and personal preferences vary. No one has the right to impose their choices on others.

It remains unclear who sponsored this rally and why such an inappropriate and unnecessary campaign was needed.

A prank by local college girls nothing more! There were like 20 girls giggling and sloganeering for about 1 min.
Ultimate trolling and triggering keyboard warriors with their own speciific agendas ... these girls are geniuses :ROFLMAO:

Was wondering why I was denied such entertaining stuff by google. :p
