What's new

Yasir Shah takes 10 wickets on Day 3 as New Zealand end day on 131/2 after following-on

A few quick wickets tomorrow and we'll be in the driving seat. Should have scored our runs much faster when we were batting. Our innings was so very slow and boring.

Pakistan totally missed the plot by batting too slow.

A draw is probable result.

I live close to the stadium and bad news is it is raining right now. It has been light drizzle whole night as well.

Lets hope it gets clear in 2 hours. But i doubt.

Am assuming delayed start

I think even a Session lost due to rain will
Mean a sad draw. Since already so much time wasted.
It is still raining and its raining hard now.

Forecast is for fine weather from midday onwards. Anybody know how long it usually takes for the outfield to dry in Dubai after rain?

If it rains, the pitch conditions will change and Pakistan will win it quickly.

It is still raining and I can not see it stopping any time soon. Paksitan's best bet is to get a 1-1 draw in the series and move to South Africa for Test series.

I am seeing schools closed due to rain on Dubai so it's been pretty severe

It's been confirmed that we've lost the morning session, no play until after lunch.

Bat for two days and score 418 and next day the rain arrives. Even weather is making fun of pakistans approach.

Basically 394 runs if you remove the late runs we scored in the last 9 overs of the day.

For the past 10 odd years New zealand has often got away from Pakistan.

1) Beat Pakistan by 2 runs in 2009 T20 World cup super six match.
2) Narrowly Beat Pakistan in 2009 Champions Trophy Semi final.
3) Narrowly beat Pakistan in the 2009 Test by 30 runs in Dunedin (series drawn 1-1).
4) Beat Pakistan unexpectedly in 2011 world cup match, despite Pakistan winning ODI/Test series in nzl few months earlier.
5) Beat Pakistan badly in ODI/Tests 2016 in Newzealand and also T20's a year earlier.
6) Drew Test series in UAE 2014 despite Pakistan playing with it's strongest squad in UAE. Also won ODI's as well 2-3.
7) Now drew 1-1 odi series (rain helped) And on the verge of winning first over seas Test series win over Pakistan since December 1969. (Rain is again helping).

I believe the rain which never arrived in Auckland in 1992 semi final is finally showing the rub of green in Kiwiz favor.

3) Narrowly beat Pakistan in the 2009 Test by 30 runs in Dunedin (series drawn 1-1).

Don't forget that in the final test of that series NZ needed 100 runs to win in the last session with 10 wickets in hand before the rain rolled in. NZ probably would've won that, so it's not always going their way!

We won't have play today.

Very unlikely.

Have you seen the conditions of the roads?

I assume the ground is in worse shape.

Just saying.

Not much movement for the bowlers.

Yasir will have strike before he bowls 30 overs to bring pakustan any chance in this match.

All the pressure exerted by the fast bowlers dissipated by Yasir.

Time for Williamson to hit a century and same goes for Ross also.

Whats the purpose of playing bilal asif? A left hander is there and offspinner hasnt bowled an over since morning.

Two down, NZ can be taken out below 200 and made to bat again. Looks possible, it is not easy to score on this pitch

Where is Bilal Asif????
Why Sarfraz giving Yasir Shah the ball??
Definitely favouritism

Pakistan right on top. Pakistan favourites to win here. No chance of a draw. NZ will collapse rapidly aginst the spinners.

UAE is not the place for follow-ons. Even if Pakistan manages to get NZ out before 218, they will not enforce the follow-on. Especially given our troubles of batting last.

How to give away a Test in one over.

Latham and Nicols should have done much better, Taylor's was unplayable.

With looming rain threat , pakistan might not have a choice.
