Chief Selector Muhammad Wasim will unveil Pakistan squads for the seven-match T20I series against England, tri-series in New Zealand and the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Australia 2022 on Thursday

1.Fakhar/Shan
2.Rizwan
3.Babar
4.Haider/Safraz
5.Nawaz
6.Asif
7.Shadab
8.Wasim Jr./Iftikhar
9.Rauf
10.Shaheen
11.Naseem/Hasnain/Dhani
That's.the team but unfortunately not an emphatic team alot of loopholes particularly the fragile middle order or lack of big hitters

Expect Fakhar to be scapegoated.

Shan Masood to replace him due to media pressure.

Saqlain Mushtaq and Mohammad Yousaf to resign after team announcement.

Waqar Younis to become interim coach coach + bowling coach.

Matthew Hayden to become batting coach along with team mentor.

Shaheen to be refused visa entry into Australia, Hassan Ali replaces him.

Ifthikar Ali gets injured during fielding practice, Shoaib Malik comes into the team.

Selecting a 40 yr old Malik will be a disaster. I've been a fan of Malik over the years but now his time is up.

I would probably have gone with the below team.

Sherjeel
Fakhar
Babar
Rizwan
Haider Ali
Shadab
Asif Ali
Nawaz
Rauf
Naseem
Shaheen
------------------
Imad Wasim
Mohammad Wasim
Sarfaraz
Iftikhar

Quite difficult to leave out Dahani and Hasnain but I don't think they can afford to drop any of those 4 Pacers. M Wasim , I think, is a very good bowler and must be in the side. I'll prefer Imad over Qadir for now, although I do rate Qadir, he spins it quite a bit and I really like that.

This is awesome bro. I can totally see some of these things happening.

We are probably going to need to play 4 seamers in Australia. Dahani imo is a must for Australia. I hope he isn't sidelined.
Hasnain can be dropped for now, good as he is.

They won't play 4 seamers becouse that would upset the balance of the team both Nawaz and Shadab will play.

Fakhar
Rizwan
Babar
Iftikhar
Khishdil
Asif
Nawaz
Shadab
Naseem
Haris
Hasnain

Plus...
Dahani
Hasan
Haider
Usman Qadir

***Afridi and Wasim to replace Hasnain and Hasan when/if fit.

That's it.

1. Babar Azam (c)
2. Mohammad Rizwan
3. Fakhar Zaman
4. Shan Masood
5. Iftikhar Ahmed
6. Khushdil Shah
7. Asif Ali
8. Mohammad Nawaz
9. Shadab Khan
10. Mohammad Wasim Jr.
11. Shaheen Shah Afridi
12. Haris Rauf
13. Naseem Shah
14. Mohammad Hasnain
15. Shahnawaz Dahani

Reserves: Haider Ali, Imad Wasim, Faheem Ashraf

Openers

Babar
Rizwan
Shan Masood
Haider Ali
Ifthikar Ahmed/ Umar Amin / Haris Sohail / Agha Salman any 2 out of these four
Hassan Nawaz ( x-factor pick)

Sarfraz Ahmed - as a backup wk and also the best bet to play in the middle order , he his having a very good National T-20 ..Reason that Haris is not picked is the same yardstick, looks to have poor tourney so far and also in the middle order he sucks

Nawaz
Shadab
Shaheen
Haris rauf
Naseem
Dahani
Wasim jnr

Hassan Nawaz looks good but should not be considered for selection espically down the order. As back keeper who can play as a batter I would go with Azam Khan instead of Sarfraz.

Sarfaraz will be a very valuable addition to Pakistan's middle order, his experience will come in handy. Salman Agha looked good in that last ODI series, I think he cannot do worse that the current middle order.

Sarfraz can't play as a specialist batter pluss he has to bat in the top 4 which I don't believe he will if picked.

1) Babar
2) Rizwan
3) Shaan Masood
4) Haider Ali
5) Shadab
6) Nawaz
7) Azam Khan
8) Imad Wasim
9) Shaheen
10) Harris Rauf
11) Naseem Shah

i want to put asif ali in tht num 8 but i have no trust in him... Imad wasim is 10times better than him and gives a much finer bowling option as well

Dahani, M Harris, Abd Shafiq, Shaoib Maqsood , M Wasim (mayb) could make the rest of the XI

Abdullah Shafique come on bro

Just hope they don't give in to the media pressure and select Malik...that would be a tragedy.

Khushdil, Iftikhar need to go...Haider and Kamran Ghulam need to come in.

Could try Shan Masood in place of Fakhar in Eng series.

I'll still stick with Asif as he's still the best six-hitter in the country and he has played a few crucial cameos in last 12 months and there's no one else who has that 6- hitting ability.

Shaheen/Rauf/Naseem/Dahani/Hasnain should be the fast bowlers.

Backup spinner Qadir hasn't been impressive....perhaps Imad could be brought in his place.

Kamran Ghullam strike rate this national cup in 111.

I thought they were going to ask for extention for the world cup squad.

Putting Babar and Rizwan in the middle order is not a good idea other teams will start the spinners.

Read somewhere that Squad will be announced tomorrow at 4.30 by Mr Wasim. Pakistan have missed all the chances of experimentation so i really don't expect much to change. It will all come down to batting positions and how Pakistan utilize Fakhar and haider will have a huge impact in the outcome. I expect Fakhar to do well on Aussies pitchs though he was clearly struggling for timing in the Asia cup.

I don't have much expectation from these guys because their is a clear focus on saving individual position
rather then team betterment. Pakistan having arguably world best attack might struggle in WC

Haider Ali
Abdullah Shafique/Sahibzada Farhan/top opener from National T20 cup (Abdullah Shafique pick is actually looking forward a couple of years, if they develop him properly)
Babar Azam
Kamran Ghulam
Shadab Khan
Mohammad Rizwan
Mohammad Nawaz
Waseem Jr./Faheem Ashraf (or whoever the best-performing fast bowling all-rounder is in the national T20 cup)
Shahnawaz Dahani
Haris Rauf
Naseem Shah

This is my team.

I'm presuming SSA won't be back in time for the World Cup.

No Fakhar.

No Iftikhar, Asif, or Khushdil.

No Sharjeel, I don't want him back, I saw some of his recent national T20 innings, he has slowed down a lot, lost his fluidity, he won't do well against international bowlers, he didn't do too well in PSL either.

Certainly not Shoaib Malik, that would be an abomination.

No Imad Wasim, he's no good as a spinner, Nawaz and Shadab have permanently replaced him.

No Shan Masood, although he is the only one from those being frequently mentioned I would consider, in place of Fakhar.

Rizwan should never open again, that experiment is over. Wasn't that one of Misbah's last blessings to us, to pick him to open, and destroy Mickey Arthur/Sarfraz's winning T20 template?

Pick three or four young aggressive specialist batsmen in the mold of Haider Ali and give them a free run of a few years in bilateral T20s to develop. We never did that in the last year.

Having said this, replacing personnel will do no good if the mentality of preserving wickets for the first 15 overs doesn't change. Viv Richards couldn't save you at the end if you do that.

The stupidity of the Pakistani unimaginative mindset appears clearly in the approach to T20s. The very notion of a "finisher" (like Asif Ali) who will hit a few sixes to bail you out and take you from a pathetic score to a semi-decent one is ridiculous.

Sack Saqlain as coach because he seems to be satisfied with decent performances rather than winning and is locked into an outdated mindset.

Transition away from Babar as captain in the next year or so. He'll never be an imaginative T20 captain. Or an imaginative any kind of captain, although he's excellent at creating team spirit.

SSA will be back for world cup.Abdullah Shafique is struggling massively and he will struggle big time on them bouncy pitches pluss he's in experienced.kamran Strike rate is 111 in this national cup.

You have to make some changes. Abdullah Shafique as I said is someone for a couple of years down the road if he develops properly in this format. A minimal change for the World Cup would be Haider Ali/Shan Masood to open, so that Babar can play the anchor at the top, and Rizwan can perform the same role down the order (although I hate to use the words anchor and T20 in the same sentence). We never gave Kamran Ghulam any chance to get better at the international level, and then they lose confidence and decline in the domestic set-up, as happens time and again with different players. The fast bowling is all taken care of, and Shadab/Nawaz are doing great in the spin department. Just need fast starts and aggression at the top in batting. So you have to take some risks in changing the personnel. We'll see if SSA is back, I doubt it.

So Pakistan have no choice but to announce the squad today?

They really would like all the time in the world won’t they?

1-Sharjeel Khan
2-Fakhar Zaman
3-Babar Azam (c)
4-Mohd. Rizwan (wk)
5-Iftikhar Ahmed
6-Mohd. Nawaz
7-Shadab Khan
8-Faheem Ashraf
9-Haris Rauf
10-Shaheen Afridi
11-Naseem Shah
12-Shan Masood
13-Asif Ali
14-Mohd. Waseem Jr.
15-Mohd. Hasnain
16-Azam Khan (reserve keeper)

Umar Akmal as spare keeper-batsman given his good record in both AU & NZ

My squad for England/ T20 World Cup (followed by my reasoning for Umar Akmal inclusion):

1) Sharjeel
2) Rizwan
3) Babar
4) Shan
5) Malik
6) Asif
7) Nawaz
8) Shadab
9) Shaheen
10) Rauf
11) Naseem
12) Husnain
13) M. Wasim/ Umar Akmal
14) Usman
15) Fakhar

Given its a T20 WC, I'm very tempted to include Umar Akmal as spare keeper-batsman but I know thats very controversial. Have seen his recent explosive impactful batting clips in T10, PSL and others, he loves batting against fast bowlers n still has those amazing timing & range + he loves fast n bouncy wickets + has done well both in AU & NZ!

Put aside everything else, this is a moot point

Umar and Sharjeel have no prospect of playing for Pak under Ramiz’s watch

Pakistan don’t believe in taking a spare keeper and a spare opener

You can make some changes correct but on what basis are you selecting Shafique who is struggling in National cup.so bisicaly you want to play 3 players who bat at a similar rate in the top 5 Shan Masood,Rizwan, and Babar.

Hassan Nawaz looks good but should not be considered for selection espically down the order. As back keeper who can play as a batter I would go with Azam Khan instead of Sarfraz.

Adam khan did nothing and he is also not playing the current national T-20

Those unfit bulldozers can rest at home. If they are any serious about their cricket , either reduce weight or float like Babar.

Not because he is Moin khans that he can walk into the team.

Australia is miles away we have to take a spare keeper

It should be Muhammad Harris and not Sarfaraz

But PCB will be more inclined to go with Sarfaraz for obvious reasons. I’m not going to point them out

Harris or Haseebullah. I hope everyone remembers the last horrendous innings Sarfaraz played for us in Bangladesh

1. Babar Azam
2. Fakhar Zaman
3. M. Rizwan
4. M. Haris
5. M. Nawaz
6. Iftikhar Ahmad
7. Shadab Khan
8. Shaheen Afridi
9. Naseem Shah
10. Haris Rauf
11. Shan Masood

15. Haider Ali

Haseebullah is trash and overrated as a batsman. He can’t catch either!

Hmm not much changes only major change I see is Shan Masood in squad and Fakhar Zaman in reserves.

Dahani is in reserves are you kidding me ?

Asif khushdil and ifti all retained and usman qadir in Australia when you already have shadab
