The Narendra Modi government has emboldened Hindu extremists and effectively given them carte blanche to attack Muslims, kill them and destroy their places of worship, homes and businesses. If this was China or Russia the US and its vassals would be shedding crocodile tears, condemning them for their human rights abuses and gathering together an international support package of severe sanctions and UN resolutions. But, India is a US/Western ally - an important anti-China partner - so its atrocities are suppressed, concealed and, to all intents and purposes, encouraged.

The war against Islam began with the Christian Crusades, evolved into colonial campaigns and ultimately morphed into capitalist-driven conflicts - any nation that kills Muslims is an ally of the West, unless it is non-compliant then Muslim suffering becomes a tool, weaponized and politicized to destabilize the government, bring it down and replace it with a pro-Western regime.

India is fortunate it does not have oil - otherwise..

The west has its populist elements but the institutions (like courts and police) are generally able to keep them in check. In India, the institutional checks and balances against right wing extremism have almost disappeared.

The result is that the cadre of these extremist parties are emboldened to keep pushing the envelope without facing any repercussions. Once this cycle of fanaticism begins, its very very hard to reverse. I am sure Modi and Shah think they can precisely control right wing discourse - dial it up it during elections and then cool down the tempers before India starts getting a lot of bad press globally. But its like riding a tiger - once you start, here is no easy to stop without getting eaten.

In the late 90's the butcher, may he rest in hell Ariel Sharon visited the then BJP government. They forged an alliance and plan to help each other. Both feel Islam/Muslims are mutual enemies. Were all illegal buildings in the area demolished? Or the Hindu ones spared.

These are local issues and everyone admits there have been local conflicts especially in the state of UP.

It has nothing to do with constitution or democracy.

People still have the right to vote for majority.

Constitution still doesn't discriminate based upon race or religion.
