AFTER showing much promise, Pakistan has fallen away badly in their past two days of Test cricket.

The fight shown in Brisbane has quickly evaporated, showcased by a calamity of errors on the first day of the Sydney Test to back up their final day collapse at the MCG.

Australian coach Darren Lehman would have sat back and watched with glee as Pakistan fielding was more reminiscent of sub-continent teams of the 1990s.
Lehman has traded barbs with Aussie-born Pakistani fielding coach Steve Rixon this series.

The performance of Rixon’s men in the field made for uncomfortable viewing at a ground where Rixon honed his skills first as a decorated player for NSW and Australia before coaching his state.

Captain Misbah-ul-Haq floated the prospect of retiring following his sides weak performance at the MCG.

And he showed why 42-year-old Test cricketer’s are a rare breed as he “harboured-bridged” over a Dave Warner drive in just the third over, conceding a boundary.

It set the tone for the rest of the day. A misfield also helped Warner to his century.
Debutant Sharjeel Khan and Babar Azam were among the Pakistani players who fumbled their way at the SCG.

Azam spilt a regulation catch at gully despite getting two hands on to the ball when Usman Kwajaha was on three. It cost them just 10 runs.

Misbah’s negative field placings allowed Warner to thrive, while he received little help from his bowlers.

Mohammad Amir was plagued by a hamstring injury, and left the ground for a short time, while unfortunately for Pakistan recalled quick Imran Khan was linked to the Pakistiani legend in name only, going wicketless for 81 runs from 17 overs in his first Test of the tour.

Fast bowler Wahab Riaz, who took two wickets, said the bowlers were poor.

“At the end of the day it’s a bowling unit not doing good,” Riaz said.

“As a bowling unit we have let our team down.

“Everybody knows Warner is an attacking player. As a bowling unit if you keep making mistakes, you look foolish. Our execution is not up to the mark.”

Wicketkeeper Sarfraz Ahmed had been a shining light for the touring side by taking three catches — including a sharp chance to dismiss Australian inform skipper Steve Smith for 24 off the bowling of spin bowler Yasir Shah — but too blundered with a miss stumping when Peter Handscomb was on 10.

Wahab was destined to let us down.

Clueless management by Mickey Arthur, Misbah and Inzamam.

They're all obsessed with his 2015 wc spelll and 2011. Literally entire pcb is UNDER that SPELL and they can't see the rubbish.

He's the best Pakistani bowler right now, by a fair margin.

But Wahab hasn't let anybody down.

On horrible pitches he has 9 wickets at 38 with a strike rate of 56.

Wahab has been the best bowler. The problem has been the slower and shorter quicks.

Brainless bowler but sad thing is that he has been our best bowler this tour which just shows how bad everyone else is.

He gets too much criticism. He played a vital role in the 4th test in England. Even in the UAE, he was a better bowler than Amir and in Australia he has had more impact than Amir.

Which ones? Sohail Khan is 6'4, Mo Amir is 6' and Imran Khan is 6'1.

Tbf I think he has improved a lot on his line and length the last couple innings. He is bowling constantly outside the off stump and that's how het got the wicket of Warner and Khawaja today.

Imran Khan and Mohammad Amir are not tall enough to succeed in Australia: they can not get sharp lift from a full length so they can either be cut/pulled or driven and can't slow the scoring rate.

Sohail Khan was too slow and too unfit, and each spell was more harmless than the last.

In fact, horrifyingly, Rahat was the second best quick after Wahab. Because once he got his radar right, at least he was tall enough to hit a challenging length.

More than height, you need pace in Australia. Height is useless without pace.

Case in point Chris Tremlett. In 2010 he was operating at 85-88 mph and was successful. In 2013, he was operating at 77-81 mph and was subsequently dropped for the rest of the series.

Dont worry

Batting unit has let you down for the last 5 games

I totally agree.

That's why Mickey Arthur dropped Shaun Pollock for Andre Nel when his pace dropped below 135K.

Mickey had a rule: three specialist quicks taller than 6'2 and bowling at least 140K all day. Plus a fourth quick in the top six batters (Kallis).

Even Amir is too short - his only hope is to be the all-rounder.

Out of respect Mickey let Misbah do it his way, which has failed dismally.

Now Mickey needs to ruthlessly clean the stables.

Only Amir and Wahab are safe. And Yasir needs to be careful too: Mickey would usually prefer a spinner like Usman Qadir should have been groomed to be, who averages 40 with the bat and bowls more like Afridi than Kaneria, for 15 overs each day rather than 35 like Yasir.

Remember, Mickey's South Africa beat Inzamam's Pakistan in Pakistan with four quicks and Paul Harris as the only spinner.

Sarfaraz should be the next test captain with CHANGES in the team for next series. This would be my team:

1. Azhar Ali
2. Sami Aslam
3. Babar Azam
4. Usman Salahuddin
5. Younis Khan
6. Asad Shafiq
7. Sarfaraz
8. Yasir Shah
9. Amir
10. Wahab Riaz
11. Hassan Ali

12. Mir Hamza
13. Sharjeel Khan
14. Asghar
15. Nawaz

Bowling has been awful generally.

Doesnt matter if you are trundling or bowling at 150 clicks if you cant bowl the right length or line.

It's funny how they say this every match yet the results remain the same.

The worst part is that most of them are close or above 30 yet they can not come up with a bowling strategy when plan A fails.

That explains why Brett Lee was so successful in Oz despite being only 5'9 lol

If you continue getting chances, pak will be be let down more often than not, he is arguably the worst bowler from the sub continent, Bangladesh have far superior quality bowler than wahab.

Explains why he is been Pakistan's best bowler on this tour.
