Shahid Afridi in his article:

“Pakistan have shown in recent ICC Men’s T20 World Cups that they are capable of challenging anyone.”

“Even though their form has been inconsistent in 2024, I believe they have all the ingredients to put it all together in the West Indies and USA.”

“Over the last two ICC Men’s T20 World Cups, they have made one final and one semi-final and there is no question of the talent in the squad.”

“The conditions in the Caribbean will definitely suit them. There is so much talent in the side, particularly when you look at the bowling attack which should thrive over there. The fast bowlers are as good as any team in the world and there is so much depth as well.”

“That class is much more important than recent form. We have seen time and again that the landscape of the game can change in the space of a few overs in T20 cricket. Part of the reason the results have been a bit up and down is that the selectors have been testing youngsters and giving them an opportunity to showcase their talent.”

“It was important to settle on the best combination for the World Cup. Once they get there, I am expecting them to target the powerplay, keeping the strike rate high, before building up until the 14th over. From there, the finish will be the key.”

“Even with the results this year, the team needs to keep a positive mindset and there must be total clarity on each player’s role. Teamwork makes the dream work and that can be the difference.”

“I am really excited to see the tournament return to the Caribbean. I captained Pakistan in 2010 when the West Indies last hosted and have great memories of that tournament.”

“As an all-rounder, I loved the fact that the pitches support both batters and bowlers, so it will be up to the players to acclimatise quickly. For the batters, shot selection is vital, while bowlers need to find their line and length.”

“This is also a huge tournament for American cricket. I have always had a great time when playing in the USA and for those who have not experienced it, the conditions are similar to playing in the West Indies.”

“People are going to love the support in the States. There is a great expat community over there which absolutely loves cricket. And the Americans absolutely love their sport, whether it is American football, basketball or baseball. I really believe that cricket will hit the mainstream over there in the next few years, which is very exciting for up-and-coming cricketers.”

“For those Americans discovering the tournament, they should know that Pakistan’s game against India is like our Super Bowl.”

“I used to absolutely love playing India and I really believe it is the biggest rivalry in sport. When I played in those games, I got a lot of love and respect from the Indian fans and it means so much to both sides.”

“Against India, it is about handling the pressure of the occasion. There is so much talent in both teams, they just need to put it together on the day.”

“That will be the case in that game and in the tournament overall. The team that can hold its nerve will come out on top. T20 cricket is so unpredictable, and teams can bat so deep now. You can have a batter coming in at No.8 and smashing the ball at a strike rate of 150 to win a game.”

“I hope that will be Pakistan this time around, but it is hard to pick a favourite.”

I disagree that the USA is a great place to play cricket, considering the lack of interest from the local population and the sparse crowd situation. In my opinion, cricket is not yet a popular sport in the USA, and it may not be an ideal location for matches at this time.

Locals hardly watch T20 even in England or Aus or UAE it’s always the Desis.
The crowd will be good in states, just that Pak team isn’t full of superstars anymore to pull big crowds like before.

Yes, of course as Pak are small time, for India its just a Sunday stroll out in the park.

Only thing we've left with is fantasies about playing India.

There's no self respect in this team anyway. They'll be out to restaurants today and tomorrow and enjoying sights and surrounds.

Shahid loud mouth afridi needs to wake up or get out of his Lalaland apart from Zimbabwe Ireland no major cricketing nation is interested in playing proper cricket with Pakistan when was the last time we played a 4 match Test series

honestly speaking afer watching such terrible performance of Pakistan my interest in the match has gone down to zero now

This is the best time to watch any team one supports in any sport , when they’ve have a shocker & now play their biggest rivals who are a better side .

Sport is watching people rise up or fall apart in a very difficult & highly pressured situation.

It’s T20 , fun cricket, enjoy :yk2

Test cricket is dead now outside the. If 3. No one is interested to play test cricket anymore. PCB themselves are not interested to organize ODIs let alone tests. Situation for test cricket is pretty dire.

Baber knows once the t20 campaign is over so will be his captaincy and the likes of Shan maqsood, rizwan or Shaheen will come in the frame

Problem is we've been in freefall for such a long time getting battered black and blue home and away then losing to USA is like getting knocked out by Mike Tyson. The fans are absolutely demoralised.

There is no hope for this team, its utter dross. Two players came out of retirement to play. One should be retired long ago, one should not be an international cricketer let alone be near the team, we have a tailender playing at 5 due to yaar-dosti. The balance of the team is not right, I mean the list goes on.

Hopefully, we wing tomorrow though against all the odds.

Afridi openly has showcased his agenda , he only is interested in getting SSA back to captaincy which is shameful knowing his son in law is in team he should not be on TV criticizing Babar for the sake of it

The hype is not there anymore after looking at this current Pakistan team. Defeat against USA has made a massive dent in Pakistan cricket fans. I am sure that 99% of people would be thinking about India winning this game easily.

The hype is there. And the hope for a pakistani win is also there.

I get it, fans are still unhappy after the loss to USA, but it does not change the hype for todays game. Everyone that follows cricket will still tune in

It is still there but the team looks finished due to parchis like Azam and Amir :)
Azam is a parchi. Amir is not a parchi but he's an aged bowler who's out of it. And babar has been exposed as another labu type player who was never suited for the t20 format.

Babar is not the no 1 player who's better then Warner that you claimed. Cold hard reality. If he was, Pakistan would at the very least be getting some fireworks amd some assurance that maybe if Bobby performs we'll win. But everyone is claiming fakhar or bust.

When Babar Azam is your biggest star – what can you expect...

Babar Azam isn't even a better batter then hafeez, Prime Malik, Haris sohail etc etc.

It's just he played longer and unlike malik benefitted from the fact that he played in a very easy era where 2 new balls were introduced, Due to cricket just returning in Pakistan sides frequently sending 2nd string, and Sarfaraz being a good captain where he actually played people in position. Hence stat inflation, Theirs a reason he's an utter mess against top sides.

Had misbah and azhar still been around, Hafeez would still stubbornly occupy no 3 and babar would be a no 4 to 6 like he was when he came Early on in his career. Sarfi let him have no 3 as he felt Bobby was the anchorer.

The evergreen, Shahid Afridi walked in with the trophy that 20 teams are fighting for, during the Pakistan vs Canad game.

Perks of being an ambassador.
