What's new

“This is an opportunity for me to leave a legacy behind, next 4-5 years are important” : Azhar Ali

He and Asad Shafiq already have a leagcy of giving big statements before every series and then doing nothing in the series. I have noticing this for the past 1 year or so. If you have doubts you can look at the threads here. He shouldn't only be removed from captaincy but should also be dropped from the team for his poor performance. He is taking his place for granted. I would rather make Babar captain in tests also. :inti

Such legacy. Much wow.
It'd be a miracle if he can save his career after this Australia tour, much less his captaincy.

Azhar Ali's legacy must be to make opposition achieve world records against his team and demoralize them.

Can't even score in double figures and this loser has been made captain. Salute to Mani and Wasim Khan.

And he has been made captain . Such atragedy, surely it has been on Misbah recomendations.

he got his butt saved if anything. This is what is shameless in Pakistan cricket, "oh you've got a declining average, no problem we'll just make you captain"

Words mean nothing. He was a disaster in 2015 and will be a plunder again.

thank you for this stat. I reckon his average was 54 in 2016, 42 in 2017 and 30 in 2018. Dropping in performance by 12% each year. Consistency, gotta love it!

Speaking of 12%, his average over the last 2 years outside UAE is... 12.

It was always a temporary appointment but it needs ending soon. Misbah seems to be making the on field decisions and Azhar isn't good enough anymore.

Time to move on . But as we know in Pakistan cricket we hold on to mediocrity for far too long.

Someone who batted worse than Aamir in South Africa is captaining Pakistan in Australia!

Pathetic!

Azhar’s legacy got ruined when he became the chosen son of Misbah and Wicky bhai. If this is the kind of legacy he plans on leaving....he should just leave himself

Mickey on Azhar Ali

"Azhar's the nicest guy. He brings stability and good values to the dressing room, he's calm all the time and the one thing he'll do is he'll lead by example when he scores runs. It's been tough for him with the bowling attack not being able to control the game, and also him not getting a big score which will change soon"

“This is an opportunity for me to leave a legacy behind me and the next 4-5 years are very important for me as a player and a captain”

It hasn’t been a year yet but I don’t think we need to see anymore :inti

He's certainly leaving a legacy behind him don't worry about that. A legacy that will be remembered for a long time.

According to a article I saw, he will not be getting the sack as he’s been given a 12 month period which means he will continue regardless

Seems legacy time coming up soon.

In the meantime, in QeA20, Round 3:

Azhar anchored Central Punjab’s innings with an undefeated 184-ball 95, which included 11 fours.

If they have batted at least 5-6 runs an over when thy are well placed at 180/4 they should have won it.

Problem with Azhar is even after batting for the whole day , he doesn’t seem assured in the crease. Also his SR will be constant and doesn’t improve a bit even after facing 100 balls. He is a batsman who the opponents can believe that he is never set and can give his wicket anytime,

His and Misbahs legacy should be with them , failures to follow for someone.
